Dimitrisgb
Hi there. I have been trying to make some new sets of armour ny changing the colour. I changed the colour, but I don't know how to select it. I try by searching the "edit" box of the item, but all I can find is the meshes.Am I doing something wrong? Striker879
Assign the new texture files to it in NifSkope (the little purple flower icon in the left hand panel, once you've expanded the nodes).
Dimitrisgb
How do I do that? With the Construction Set, or with the programm I use to change the colour?
Pellape
Nifscope is a very nice tool from Niftools. When you open your new NIF or rather mesh with it, you will see all bloody nif info and you choose an object in it that you want to have a new texture, and then go to the NiTexturingProperty and choose your new texture by clicking that purple flower next to the path. Delete all crap before textures as it must start there and you will not be able to see the texture when you delete c:\xxxxx\Oblivon\Data in the path If it is a new armor then save the file as a new mesh in Meshes\Dimi\Armor or in Meshes\Armor\Dimi as you have to choose which path you want to use but useyour name in it and Dimi should go fine as it doesnt seems to be taken. Do you have tools for open and edit the dds files? Dimitrisgb
Ok, I almost made it. The thing is that when I wear the armor, my body is disappearing. What am I missing?
Striker879
Invisible (or flat non-reflective black) is an indication of missing Normal Maps (the _n.dds files). - Edit - The normal map file name must match the correspeonding colour map file name ... so MyTexure.dds will have a normal map file named MyTexture_n.dds in the same folder path. Dimitrisgb
I don't get it. Is this dds in the same folder as the nif and gns.nif?
Dimitrisgb
Ok, found it. Do I have to change its colour too?
Pellape
It depends. If you only edited a texture, changed its colors, then use the texture_n.dds as well. Lets say you remade IronCuirass.dds to DimiCuirass.dds the copy IronCuirass_n.dds to DimiCuirass_n.dds If you make a new texure, there are several ways to make a _n.dds file, which is called Normal and what does the Normal do? Well it creates the 3D structure, making a flat surface less flat. Like this:http://666kb.com/i/c0zr4c2p9um8p89vj.jpgThe _m.dds is called _g.dds in Oblivion and _m.dds in Skyrim and do not make any unless you want it to look like shiny glass or rather, only make _g.dds when you know exactly what you wanna use it for. Creating new normal files with gimp, if you make a complete new texture, you need the Normal Map plugin but there is also nice online tools for it that works great
