I had to reinstall Obivion, but now it keeps crashing on startup for no reason. Any fixes for that? I installed the MessageLogger and ObMM, no idea how ObMM works tho.

Did you uninstall any mods first?

If not, and you just reinstalled the game, then you've still got remnants of the mods in there, and need to delete the entire game folder

Also, you'll need to delete your Oblivion INI so running the game will generate a new one

As in Steam\steamapps\common\oblivion ?

that would mean that reinstalling everything in there would be nessecary, such as OBSE, ENBoost , etc right? the mods will be easy to reinstall, but what about the saves? they should be fine, right?

So you say that if you play the Steam version, your saves are stored at Steam?? That is completely nuts really.

Do check your Documents folder and click:

  • My Games
  • Oblivion
  • Saves

If that structure does not exist or that Saves folder is empty, then Steam Sux... That is my personal opinion for sure and if Steam does that to their players, they should be put in the corner wearing the fools cap and be ashamed.

Well this really pisses me off for sure... 50905320308_efe5a3ff02_o.png

If your save files are stored at both Steam and locally, it is brilliant on the other hand. :D

Do open your Oblivion.ini that are stored in Documents\My Games\Oblivion and also check the SLocalSavePath which should be

SLocalSavePath=Saves\

in a normal Oblivion game... What is it written on that row in your Oblivion.ini

Bloody Steam causing problems for honest players... :wallbash:

The saves are located in the document folder, but i was wondering if there is a possibility that the saves became corrupted aswell due to all that trouble.

No they will not. :D

To be 157.3% sure, do backup the latest ones at your Google Drive or OneDrive if you use it or at some other nice place, like an USB or similar. I backup my stuff to my Google Drive with Google Drive Sync and I do it regularly but that sync also makes the game to stutter so I only use it when I do not play the game.

If you do it manually, be sure you copy them, not move them as if you drag and drop them within the same drive, they will get moved, not copied... If you drag and drop within the same drive, you can press the [ctrl] key while doing it.

Hmmm, I should exchange my profile picture to the 50905320308_efe5a3ff02_o.png really. It looks so cool...
