Zanderat
If using the vfs extension, I assume it it essentially turns Vortex into MO2 (deployment wise). So any changes to, say, .ini files would need to be done in the staging folder, correct?
Tannin42
No, Vortex uses the vfs only for the deployment of mods, ini files (like skyrim.ini) or the plugins.txt file are all edited in place and users can make their changes the same as if they were manually installing mods, independent of the deployment method. Also unlike MO2 the vfs extension for Vortex doesn't (currently) use an "override" mod containing files modified within the vfs, those too are handled exactly like other deployment methods. Generally we don't want users to have to change their behavior for different deployment methods. You pick the method that works best based on the game and your system (filesystem, partitions, permissions, ...) but all other functionality should work the same no matter which method you chose.
