jlou Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Hello. Thank you in advance for your help. I had been trying to get mods going for Skyrim SE. I had bungled the install twice, so slowed down and learned the proper way to install FNIS, SKSE64, and ENB. I have several mods installed and they are working fine. I've been installing a few related mods at a time and testing the game throughout. I got to a mod called devious devices. The mod installs several .esp's. By chance, they released a new version of it on Monday. I have tried to load both the older and the newer version in. Each time, Vortex tells me they are for a different game - the original skyrim. Funny enough, the last time I had loaded mods, these were fine. I assume that there's a conflict with FNIS, but I'm really just learning this and not sure how to even troubleshoot. Any advice would be welcomed. Once again, thank you.
Tannin42 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 The error message basically means that the mod was built with tools intended for the original skyrim. They may still work with special edition - or they may cause crashes. If you know the mods in question work, feel free to ignore the message, it's more of a warning like "If you have problems, this might be the reason"
jlou Posted March 19, 2021 Author Posted March 19, 2021 I guess the thing that's bothering me is that it didn't throw the errors before. I've installed a couple of other mods and this mod remains unchanged. Thank you for the feedback. I will try to find a mod that uses DD and see how it performs. I'd just feel better if others had seen the same issue and I am not finding evidence of that on any forums. I'd expect that would be the kind of thing others would have asked about.
jlou Posted March 19, 2021 Author Posted March 19, 2021 One more thing before I go. I had last enabled/deployed using the 5.0 version of the file. I disabled it, redeployed to make sure all was well, and then enabled the 5.1 version. I then got a message from Vortex. "Mod files were changed outside Vortex. You can undo these changes now or apply them permanently. File content modified ("save" will apply the changed file from teh game directory permanently, "Revert" will restore the original file from the mod directory)" It then lists my FNIS Behavior SE 7_6 XXL-3038-7-6-1582110624 file. I'm not sure if this indicates a problem, but it sure seems that way. Could it be that FNIS is corrupt and I need to wipe it and set it up from scratch? The options from the dropdown with my choices are "Use newer file," "save change (use deployed file)" and "revert change (use staging file)."
Guest deleted34304850 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 doesn't mean that at all. it means that the files have been modified outside of vortex - by fnis.just select save.
jlou Posted March 19, 2021 Author Posted March 19, 2021 Thank you! I'm sure these are silly questions to someone who understands this. I appreciate people's patience while I learn it.
rmm200 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Your specific foundation mod, Devious Devices, is in a bit of a mess, version-wise. Latest version does not work with quite a few older mods. Just finding the pieces can be a challenge. For the mods you want to use, you are best off checking in the support forum for that mod, and ask what version DD works best.
jlou Posted March 19, 2021 Author Posted March 19, 2021 Ah, that's good info. I'll switch gears and see where it takes me. Thank you.

If the mod was recently updated, and NOW it's telling you that the Mod is for Skyrim LE and not Skyrim SE, then the Mod Author forgot to convert one or all of the ESPs to Form 44 by loading up the mod in the SSE CK and saving it.
FullM88 Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 What do you guys think about this older mod? Less Intrusive HUD II hasn't been touched since 2018 Lol Just did a clean re-install of Skyrim LE and some of my main mods and saw this Lol I unpacked the files to rid the Check Failed warning but still, Vortex should know what files belong to what game version. IDK
