Valour549
There was two consecutive updates in the past few days, and IDK what they've done, but it has completely screwed up my mods and load order. Among the issues are: 1) Suddenly making up random rules with .esp's I don't even have installed. For example, showing: - One of my mods is incompatible with Z_Horizon.esp - Another one of my mods must load after OVT.esp When I swear by the gods I've never downloaded any mods with names like that. In other words, non-existent esp's. 2) Not allowing me to make my own rules to order my mods. I have two mods that have absolutely no rules with any other mods, including each other. Yet when I try to set a rule between them, it tells me it cannot perform the action because it's cyclic. I've never had any issues setting rules before until now. 3) Rearranging the load order It's nothing like what it was 3 days ago.
HadToRegister
Dude....all of these "New Things" and "Problems" you're trying to bring to light as "Just happening" when you Updated, have been features in Vortex for the past 4 years. These "Random Rules with esp's you don't even have installed" has been there since 2018 and they're just loot rules letting you know that if you ever install the mod it mentions in ITALICS that Vortex will set a LOOT rule for it.You should really follow the tutorials and read the knowledge base etc.First of all, that "Incompatible Z_Horizons.esp" message has NOTHING to do with what you have installed, because it's in ITALICSAll Vortex is telling you is that there's a LOOT Rule set for "Z_Horizons.esp" and whatever other mod you have installed, THAT DOES NOT AFFECT YOU IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER.That screenshot you posted has absolutely NOTHING to do with your problem, and is just letting you know that that is a LOOT sorting rule, nothing more, which is WHY it's in ITALICSYou are completely mistaking Existing LOOT RULES, with something that is not affecting youYou're getting cyclic rules because you're trying to force LOOT to sort something it cannot sort because you're trying to force it to load a mod before a GROUP that it's assigned to.Stop trying to use Vortex like NMM, and let Vortex sort your load orderYour problem is seriously just a case of PEBCAK
HadToRegister
- One of my mods is incompatible with Z_Horizon.esp- Another one of my mods must load after OVT.esp Again, if it's in ITALICS it just means that there's a load order rule for that particular mod, WHETHER YOU HAVE IT INSTALLED OR NOT. What worries me, is that you're checking individual loot rules like that, because if you're using Vortex Correctly, you would rarely, if ever see those popups. I'm not sure why you're even checking these things, you should just be letting Vortex sort your load order and be done with it.
Valour549
If those rules have been there for so many years, then why is it all of a sudden showing me them only after I updated Vortex in the last few days? I've been modding for about 2 weeks straight, and I know for a fact they weren't there before. Why? Because I looked at Valdacil's Item Sorting almost everyday. Or does all this suggest that after the updates, my Vortex is finally working properly? And by properly, I mean it has the wonderful "feature" of showing me random rules for .esp's I don't even have installed? Is there any way of turning that feature off? Valour549
I'm checking individual rules a lot because I have a lot of texture mods installed (non-loose files), so ordering them is important to get the in-game look I want. And this silly OVT.esp message certainly wasn't there before either. I'd have noticed the whole column of those glaring yellow dependencies on my SavrenX textures (mod group is Items just to sort them all further down for ease of arranging btw). I can guarantee you those rules HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE, and if you aren't using those mods, they DO NOT PERTAIN TO YOU AT ALL. I'm using Vortex 1.3.20 and those Rules are there, and they DO NOT AFFECT ME because I don't have those mods installed. You're freaking out over NOTHING. Also, you are using Vortex completely WRONG. If Vortex is telling you you're making Cyclic rules, it's because you have two mods in two different groups, that you're trying to force to load before or after another group. LET VORTEX SORT YOUR LOAD ORDER. Either That, or switch to MO2 where you can freely mess up your load order without any resistance, because what you're doing is wrong GROUPS are for Sorting. Groups load before or after other Groups. What you are doing, is trying to make a Mod in one Group, Load Before or After, a GROUP that is set to Load Before or After another Group, which is WHY you're getting Cyclic Rules. PLEASE WATCH A VIDEO or Read the Knowledge Base, everything you are doing is wrong, you are not understanding how Vortex works, and are making things very difficult for yourself.
