I have a few:

1 - Regina(Dino Crisis 1 & 2) and Jill Valentine(Resident Evil) - tie

Yes, I'm a guy, so the obvious reasons do apply :P But at the same time, both characters are well developed, showing fearless determination in the face of danger despite the obvious fear they have once things start to spiral out of control in their respective games.

2 - Kasumi(Dead Or Alive)

Purely guy reasons LOL "She kicks high"

3 - Duke Nukem

What guy wouldnt want to be uber muscluar who is popular as hell and always has the ladies hanging off him?

4 - Solid Snake

Uber-badass. Would kick Duke Nukem's ass blindfolded, unarmed and nak...erm, nevermind.

5 - Gabe Logan(Syphon Filter)

Take away Solid Snake's occasional flirty and pervy nature and you've got Gabe. Just as serious, just as badass - though Snake would take him AND "The Agency/ICPA" down with little trouble.

WarBoss Gorgutz 'Ead 'Unta.

From WarHammer 40,000.

Gorgutz is an anomaly. he is an Ork. Orks in the 40K universe epitomise a slightly thuggish, lowbrow style, they are known for their constant willingness to fight, their terrible aim, their lack of any tactical ability whatsoever and their incredibly effective technology that they build out of scrap.

Gorgutz is a freak, he is a good shot, contrary to ork stereotype shows a high degree of intelligence, and spends hours before a battle planning tactics and manuevers in advance. He is also unusual since he uses radios to talk to his troops rather than simply shouting.

The other part of Gorgutz' appeal is the shear fun of playing as him, this supremely armoured, knuckle dragging, stupendously strong 3 metre tall juggernaut is a one ork army, armed with a Digger's digging metal digging attachement as a melee weapon, and a pair of gargantuan machine guns in his other hand.

Edwin Odesseiron from Baldur's Gate.

I haven't really played a video game made in the last 10 years that had characters I really enjoyed. Must be all the crappy 3d graphics.

And this dude!!!

It's a tie between Kelemvor from Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, and Martin Septim from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Kelemvor is just awesome. I've never before heard a character make you feel so stupid with such eloquence. He walks an incredibly fine line between good and evil, and never stumbles to one side or the other. I know many people think he's a jerk and a coward, but I think he is quite merciful and daring. Plus, his VA is amazing. :woot:

Martin Septim is another awesome character....the reluctant leader who, in the end, grows to fit his station. Sean Bean did a fantastic job of conveying his character. I almost cried at the end!
