I have duplicate files listed when I try to install a mod

I recently began using the current version of Vortex. I last used Vortex 2 years ago (?), and some things changed. Not knowing what kind of things led me astray. When I began downloading mods, they never appeared in any list on Vortex. That must be something new, I thought. So I kept trying to download them again ... and again. It kept asking me if I wanted to download them again ... "well I guess so" I kept thinking to myself. After some further experimentation, I find that a filter had somehow been set, and nothing matched it, so nothing was showing up as having been downloaded. Now that I got that figured out, I found the directory Vortex stored the mods in and deleted the extras. Now...to install them. On every one I tried, it wanted me to decide which of the nearly identical files to install. Didn't I just delete the extras? So then, how can I delete these extra mods/files from Vortex without messing things up any worse?

Why not just delete any file that has (1), (2) etc in the filename, because windows does that when you keep downloading the same files

EX:

Mods A.zip

Mod A (1).zip

Mod A (2).zip

Mod A (3).zip

The other option is to uninstall the mods you have and delete the archives in the download directory and redownload only one of each
