Sony Pictures Folds Up Like a Lawn chair?

Tidus, you either have freedom of speech/expression or you don't, there's no halfway house. Of course you're responsible for the consequences of that freedom, for example, shout "Fire" in a crowded theatre and people get hurt then you're responsible for those injuries. "It might offend someone" is not a reason to curtail anyones freedom of expression, we already have a big enough problem with people closing down debate by pretending to be offended. Anyway, offence is taken not given, you can always choose to ignore anything or anyone you find offensive.

Sony was covering their posterior - it is now out in the wild. Sony will likely lose money on it as it is available on every torrent site out there. Due to the complete clulessness of the NK censors, probably ten times as many people will see this third rate comedy as would have if they had just ignored it. Somebody please explain the 'Streisand Effect' to them.

While I do believe in the right of freedom of expression, I do ponder where this movie falls in regards to that right. I have seen the question raised numerous times regarding, "How would the USA feel about a film that was about a plot to assassinate the President?" and I do wonder what the reaction would be if such a movie was made.

Actually, it's already been done.

Well, how many ISP addresses are there in North Korea?

Actually NK didn't have anything to do with this . People who work in the cyber security fields have been saying that from day one . The last time NH got caught trying to hack into Western based anything, their hacking attempt was characterized as being amatuerish , even rudimentary , the type of hacking you would of seen in the earliest days of the interenet around the early to mid 1980's . And that was in 2012 , yet somehow we are to believe they have made up a 30 year gap in technology and technical skills in less than 2 years . Not only made up that gap but surpassed it , apparently these guys called Gaurdians of Peace (also known as the Apostle's of God) didn't jus go in once , but went in repeatedly over the space of almost a month ransacking the place at will . Even while Sony was trying to stop them. NK is no where near that level of sophistication , not even close.

As for the movie being released its release was announced the very next day after this webcast.

This story is dead , how you will know isn't jus by Sony releasing the movie or putiing it online as they have now done . Its dead because your no longer gonna hear the likes of Sen John McCain saying its cyber warfare or Sen Lindsay Graham saying its an act of terrorism . Its going to die quietly and be forgotten . They have been made fools of and no one likes being embarrassed.

What a droll crime theory ..my client is too stupid to commit the offense your honor. Hmm..lets see, NK is adjacent to one the most adept cyber warfare country in the world, yup it would be impossible for them to hire proficient outside help from their mentors..

Not sure of your real point.......NK is innocent.... or...... taking a eminently predictable swipe of derision at conservative senators.(yawn)

If you honestly believe that, I feel sorry for you. God bless and get a clue. :)

They don't have to make up any gap in technology, they can go out and buy it as they can buy the services of competent hackers who can operate from anywhere in the world.
