Turning .bsa files to .esp/.esm files?

Is it possible to convert .bsa files to .esp files? I have a mod that I want to download but I feel that it has too many conflicts I need to manually fix. Since these files are packed into a .bsa, can I somehow turn them into plugins so that they will be accessible to FNVEdit? Thanks.

It is impossible to convert BSA to ESP. BSA is Bethesda's proprietary archive format (think 7z, zip, rar) and contains file assets (meshes, textures, etc). The BSA is typically loaded into the game by use of an active plugin (ESM, ESP, ESL) of the same name.

FYI - I have no direct experience with FNV.

Can .bsa files contain weapons and armor? Or do they just contain meshes and textures and are used by the plugns?

The Textures and Meshes ARE the Weapons and Armor.

All objects in Fallout New Vegas are constructed of a.... Mesh, and a Texture.

You wouldn't edit Texture and Meshes with FnvEdit anyway, you'd use a paint program like Photoshop, Paint.net, Gimp to edit the Textures, and a Mesh editing program from the Meshes, such as NIFSkope, Blender, 3DSMax

I've done Textures for Oblivion, FO3, FONV, SSE and FO4

If I were to try and remove weapons and armor from .bsa files I would use NifSkope, is that correct? Also does the same work for creatures too?

What do you mean you want to "Remove" Weapons and Armor from a BSA?

To you want to EXTRACT them so you can edit them, or remove them from the game?

As I told you in my previous post, to EDIT TEXTURES, you use something like Photoshop etc

To EDIT Meshes you use something like NIFSkope,

I didn't say ANYTHING about EXTRACTING Textures and Meshes.

If you want to EXTRACT Textures and Meshes from a BSA then you need to use something like BAE or whatever other BSA Extractor that has been made by modders to extract Textures, Sounds, Meshes etc from BSAs.

There are plenty of tutorials out there to google for editing textures and meshes in Fallout New Vegas and other Bethesda games.

Just google them.

The mod I have has many non friendly creatures, weapons and armor and I think that many of those are contained within the numerous .bsa files with which the mod comes with and i want to remove them.

There should be an ESP or ESM file associated with the mod commonly called a plugin. The plugin contains the records that point to the meshes and textures. To remove something completely from the game requires removing the records from the plugin. But it needs to be done with care as other records could rely on the ones you wish to remove.

.bsa=Bethesda Software Archive. It is compressed files that the game uses for meshes, textures, sound, etc. Just check the data folder of the game and you will see the different types of .bsa files.

In order to edit a .bsa file, you will need to extract the contents using a BSA unpacking tool. There is on that is part of FOMM. I don't know if the other mod managers have one, since I only use FOMM.

I have read that there is an unpacking tool available online that is "supposed" to be better than the one that is part of FOMM. I can't vouch for it since I never used anything but FOMM.

You should try to use google to locate one of the other BSA unpackers.

To answer your question that was ignored, no, you cannot use NifSkope to edit a .bsa file. The .bsa must be unpacked before you can use any tool to edit any of the packed files.

So to remove weapons i just remove the records associated with those weapons? The same goes for creatures aswell?
