Best GPU/Motherboard Brand?
urbex replied to Feltmarskal's topic in Hardware and software discussion
For MOBOs, EVGA is god tier. MSI, ASUS, & Gigabyte follow. As far as GPUs go, MSI usually has the best cooling, EVGA, Gigabyte, & ASUS are acceptable, and XFX & Sapphire are meh. -

This a great keyboard guide, I'm typing from a cherry brown Das Keyboard atm. -
I'm going to assume that you're trolling and not just a complete idiot.

The G.E.C.K. and patchs for XBox 360
urbex replied to garyben01's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Unless you've JTAG'd your 360, mods are unavailable. -

I meant a mechanical keyboard, of course. -
My Custom Build Specifications
urbex replied to stealtrecon's topic in Hardware and software discussion
I'm going to be honest, this seems like a waste. An i7 for gaming? A Blu Ray Drive? LEDs? A G19? A RAT7 ? A wireless USB adapter AND a wireless card? A sound card? 24 freaking GB of RAM? I mean, you're never going to utilize all of it, and even by the time you do it'll be worth less than a thousand. I think it's cool that you're getting a wish, but really, get a car or something else nice and spend $1000 on a computer. It'll perform just as well for any game you'll play in the near future and won't depreciate in value by 800% percent. Either way, good luck. -

If you're going to spend more than $100 mechanical is the way to go. -
I honestly have no idea why someone would not build their own. You'll not only save money building, but you'll be able to upgrade in the future saving even more. Most manufacturers are horrible as well, alienware was OK until dell bought them out.

Sigh. I know a lot of what I said was BS filler, but I don't know a better way to get it through your heads. The main idea is that VIACOM would never start a lawsuit over using an audio sample in a mod. It's just stupid. It won't hurt their profits and if anything serve as free promotion for southpark. Wrong again. And it's clear to me you are not yourself, and do not have any close friends or family, in the actual music industry. Was I implying I did? No. I do know for a fact that obtaining an instrumental, rapping over it, and distributing it for free without permission IS legal. Does sampling a voice from an animated character and distributing it for free via a fallout mod not constitute the same thing? Anyways, I'm done with this thread and arguing over something so clear.
-
The thing is you guys are completely blowing it out of proportion. Do you realize how often music artist's instrumentals are completely covered and reused by other artists? They're always redistributed for free to prevent such lawsuits. The same applies just in a far smaller way. Sure, Viacom potentially could sue for it, but that would simply never happen. I'm sure there's thousands of times cartman's IP has been reused in flash games, parodies, hell theres even Nike SBs based on him. All a fallout mod would do is promote the show. Now stop thinking so hard.
-
Last I checked, unless you're marketing it, sampling a voice for a mod is legal.
-
How exactly are copyright laws beneficial to modders?
-
Would even be a nice premium-only feature. Bumping for admin response.
-
Realistically, no. Falls directly under fair use and there's no chance of a lawsuit etc. According the the mods here, possibly. If they ban people for uploading music distributed for free by artists, they'd probably ban for this.

A wise man once said, "you can't polish s***". Just get Opera, Chrome, or Firefox.

It would be nice to have an insight tab on mod pages, that would show you the sites that link and refer others to your mod. There could also be percentage statistics from in-site access. (e.x. search, top 100, endorsement topic)

Really hyped from that trailer. Disappointed in gamebryo but it was expected.

Fine in opera, are you using IE6 OP? : P
-
Hmm, I wasn't aware. I know mine is pretty wide at 71.XXX.XXX.XXX. (although obviously only a tiny fraction of those)
-
Which is rather stupid considering nearly everyone has a dynamic ip that can be changed by simply resetting your router.

I'm sure that a tutorial would be fine, as it would require you already having the FO3 resources. Also, why was the last thread locked? http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/257347-can-the-nv-wanderer-go-to-dc/page__st__30

Gamebyro had a good run, if TES5 turned out to run it I'd be disappointed.

Time to get a new computer! In need for advise.
urbex replied to tinylampe's topic in Hardware and software discussion
I just don't understand why an educated person would knowingly waste money on a prebuilt computer. The money you would save could go towards a well better GPU/CPU. I mean, why would you purchase a noticeably worse system just to save an hour of troubleshooting? In the long run it would never be worth it. -
Except that any sort of modding on a PS3 requires a voiding of the user contract to use that system. Not a problem if you're making a server farm and don't care about having to be responsible for any damages caused, but not something the average person would want to deal with. Modding also STILL requires content to be made on a PC at some point in time in order to be ported over. There are no viable dev kits for console. There are is no viable 3d modeling software. There is no viable 2d graphics software. Atleast without having to jury-rig one up with hacked, and usually illegal code. And even then, the console usually can't handle the demands of such programs very well. Consoles are, afterall specialized in nature and are designed primarily to play media directly from a game disc instead of storing all that information locally. Although newer consoles have broken beyond this a bit in order to meet the needs of online and digital functionality, the system still isn't designed around doing anything particularly intensive and all softwares designed for that console are made specifically so that they don't try and push the system too far. Consoles look like they're center stage because they're accessible to a broader range of users. That is all there is to it. PC gaming pushes the edge of what can be handled by current hardware, while Consoles just make make for certain milestones in that capability. This can be quite clearly seen as mainstream, multi-platform games don't come close to taxing computers which use newer hardware (ie. FO3, Oblivion, NV, Dragonage all have fairly similar system requirements, and need to be modded to hell and gone in order to put any real strain on a system using even mid-range hardware). If accessibility made something better, iPhones would have consoles beat, hands down. I really wasn't trying to say that consoles are superior. :S I agree with you, although most of the points of software and development are invalid. The PC will always give you the most usability.
