" fallout 4 has stopped working"
snapper69 replied to shizitmonkey's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I would be inclined to look at your GPU or your PSU. Both of your probems occurred when gaming so those two would be a bood place to start. -
I downloaded the latest version from Nexus and installed it over the top. It worked ok and best of all my mods were still there.

Cait had a worse childhood, and she turned out ok, if you overlook killing her parents (if I'd been there I would have re-loaded her gun) and working as a fighter. Now she's off the drugs and in love with me  she's pretty good.

Nexus Mod Manager installs mods outside game directory.
snapper69 replied to th3rmal95's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
After you reset the the settings to install on the f drive you will probably need to reinstall the mods as they will still be on E:. -
Well, I reinstalled it and enabled the mods a few at a time and most of them enabled. The few that didn't, I deleted and downloaded again and everything seems ok, although I didn't have time to play FO4 to see if everything is ok, but all being well I'll try it tonight.

I'm using the 0.63.9 version from th top of the Nexus page, it was working fine a couple of days earlier when I downloaded a mod. Looks like I may have to reinstall it.

I'm on my second playthrough and I've never had Preston as a companion,he winds me up too much. Other than Cait, Curie, Piper and Dogmeat (with the Dogmeat as a human female mod), I've only recruited followers when I've had to for the sake of the story. I've used the "Ada as a human mod", but the problem is that she still talks like Ada and sounds like Ada when she walks, (mind you, the Dogmeat mod has it's problems, such as the dialogue options, "How you doing boy" and the one where you ask her to do some tricks, Ok I quite like the second one.) I also have the mod that classes Dogmeat as not a companion, so you can have Dogmeat and one of the other companions. If you give her good armour and weapons, she is quite formidable, as are Cait and the transformed Curie.

Yesterday I tried to download a mod from Nexus, I clicked on the download with NMM link, NMM opened up, but all my mods were disabled, so I selected the first 20 or so and selected the green tick to re-enable them. NMM enabled several of them (missing a few) then crashed and refused to open again. I rebooted my system and it opened, all the mods were disabled, I selected a different batch of mods. clicked the tick, NMM started to enable them and then crashed again. Rinse and repeat twice more with the same outcome. It was working perfectly on Friday. I then clicked F4SE, the game started perfectly and all the mods were actually there and working, so there's something odd happening and at the moment I can't use NMM to download mods. I have been using 63.9 for several days with no problem. Is anyone else having a problem?

Sometimes settlers actually spawn on rooftops, if I find that happening, I build a ladder or a set of stairs to the roof and they happily come down.

"The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being." The motif (a hooked cross) appears to have first been used in Neolithic Eurasia, perhaps representing the movement of the sun through the sky. To this day it is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Odinism." So it looks like not everyone is offended by it, some religions still consider it sacred. The sad thing is that the Nazis took a religious symbol and turned it into an icon of hatrid and evil.

The problem is Steam breaking, sorry updating FO4 and stopping F4SE from working until I can get an updated version. I've now stopped it from auto updating and selected the FPS counter, so I just start FO4 from the F4SE shortcut and it all seems to work well. I wanted to check the FPS as I was about to buy a 1070 to replace my R9 390. Playing at 3840 x 2160 on my old R9 was a bit iffy, so I set the game to play at 1440p which was better, the R9 started off at 60 but when things got "busy" it dropped below 30. The 1070 starts at 60 and when it gets busy drops to 58. I've been thinking of getting a 144hz monitor, but a good quality, 27 inch,1440p, ips monitor is a bit more than I'm ready to spend at the moment, nearly £500 or more.

Red Rocket empty? Potential issues....
snapper69 replied to blackhand8657's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
If you have a building mod or a settlement mod that is below Scrap Everything in the order, it won't be affected and therefore you won't be able to scrap everything.- 16 replies

Can't get out of the power armor/ can't use workbenches
snapper69 replied to diocaneeeee's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
The workbench/chair thing isn't a bug, you have to exit Power Armour in order to use them (and some terminals) so if you can't exit Power Armour you can't use them. I had a similar problem in my last playthorugh, although not with all armours, it was related to the fast entry/exit animation mod. There was a cure suggested involving using console commands to check your inventory to find out if you had 2 armours on and if so how to remove them. It worked for some people although not for me. If I can find a link I'll come back and post it. -

Just make sure that Scrap Everything is right at the bottom of the plug-in list, otherwise it may not scrap everything.- 16 replies

When I played this mission the first time, after I had beaten off the attack, I was attacked by some of my settlers, but it was only the synth ones that I didn't know about. After I killed them everything was ok.

Ok, ta, I'll give it a try.

I used to have the Steam FPS counter running in FO4, then I got F4SE working and didn't want Steam to break it, so I start the game with F4SE. Can I get the Steam FPS counter working when I start the game with F4SE?
-
I don't know what needs fixing on it, it works fine on my system.

is it just me or automatron places have problem?
snapper69 replied to ckhong87's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I played that mission last night with no problems at all, could it be that you have a mod installed that isn't 100% compatible? -
Do you mean that you are starting from scratch with a new character? When you tried to play, did Steam break, sorry update, your game? If you are starting from scratch, I think that you will need to go to plug-ins and disable them all, apart from the .esm one(s) at the top, then see if you can start the game. If so, play it until you have come back out of the vault, then save the game and exit. You should then be able to enable your plug-ins and then try to restart the game. If you can play the game with the plug-ins disabled, but it crashes when you enable them, you can try disabling them all again and then enabling them a few at a time (5 or 10) then try to run the game. If it starts, fine, if it doesn't you will have narrowed down the problem. If Steam has broken, sorry, updated your game, you will need to update your mods and F4SE. Loot is ok, it sometimes gives you messages about conflicts etc, but it doesn't always get plug-ins in the right order, for example, Scrap Everything has to be right at the bottom of the list, but Loot moves it higher up. Hope some of this helps.

Modded M2216 and modded Desert Eagle plus occasionally a Combat Shotgun and a Sniper Rifle.

So dumb question about texture mods...
snapper69 replied to Helixes's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
My first thought is "Why would you want a 4K texture mod if you haven't got a 4K monitor?" I have a 4K monitor and I had a couple of 4K mods, but in order to get better frame rates I dropped it down to 2560 x 1440 and the mods still worked fine.
