Another New Patch A Now The Wait To Play Again
snapper69 replied to ClayboTGW's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Almost none of my mods use F4SE, so I just start using NMM, seems to work fine. -
Nearing End of Game, Trying to Keep MM, RR, BOS Friendly
snapper69 replied to Stargazer09's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Don't know how I did it but I ended up friends with MM, RR and BOS. I finished the story with the MM though. -
I though that Skyrim was a very good game from the beginning, before I started modding it. I put a lot of time into playing it, but I never finished it, but I'm not sure that I can say why I stopped playing it. I'm loving FO4, I guess that I prefer the gunfights to the fights in Skyrim and I also like the settlement aspect of FO4. I installed the War of The Commonwealth mod and there are battles happening everywhere.

Contraptions- how did Beth go so wrong
snapper69 replied to zanity's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'm quite enjoying playing Far Harbour, I play games for enjoyment and sometimes I get immersed in them. I downloaded a mod, War of the Commonwealth, that expands the spawns for enemies amd Minutemen patrols and I was wondering around when I spotted a Minutemen patrol being attacked by gunners, One of the Minutemen was being attacked by three gunners, with iron bars, I nailed two of them with a sniper rifle but the third killed the Minuteman before I killed him. I was surprised how gutted I was that I'd failed to save him. I also get satisfaction from building settlements, giving them defences and arming my settlers with decent weapons. I'm enjoying FO4 at least as much as I did FO3 and FO NV. -
i look forward to your mod, it looks great. Good luck with the competition.

Nexus Mod support request for console
snapper69 replied to Syntensity's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
With a few exceptions, this thread has been one of the most sensible, non abusive threads that I've read about this subject. I admire what the mod authors do, (I'm a hardware person, software writing/modding is a black art to me) and in my opinion stealing their work is disgusting. My enjoyment of Fallout 4 and before that FO3, FONV and Skyrim, has been enhanced by some excellent mods and it seems a shame that console gamers cannot share in that enjoyment, after all, no matter whether we play on a PC (I do) or a console (I have an XBox One which I use as a blu-ray player) we are ALL gamers. -
These are my thoughts, for what they're worth. 1) Stealing someone elses intellectual property is wrong, the reason doesn't matter, it's wrong. I'm not a mod designer/writer, I have neither the talent/skill/imagination nor the patience to do what many of you guys do, and I applaud you for it. 2) I love my PC, it's a brilliant games machine, better than a console. I know this because 3) I have an XBox One, it makes a passably good BluRay/DVD player, although if I had to do it again, I would spend about half as much on a good 4K player. 4) I cannot see how "going to war" with the creators of the game is a good idea. As someone said earlier, how does it benifit us if Bethesda decide to ban third party mods? When you consider that they broke quite a lot of peoples mods with their last update, presumably without meaning to, how much more damage could they do if they took the stance of "It's my ball and I'm taking it home" and deliberately broke third party mods. 5) It's Bethesda's game, they made it, if they hadn't we (and I use the term we VERY loosely) wouldn't have a game to mod.

If being stupid was a reason to ban people from forums, some forums (not this one, obviously) would be empty. Such as the chap on a shopping site forum who posted his sort code and account number, or the one who posted his name, address, email address, landline number and mobile number.

I wondered why Place Anywhere had stopped working, now I know. Thanks.

The Commonwealth's future after the ending (DLC idea)
snapper69 replied to JackTrenton's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I love the idea, but I would prefert o just kill them all, maybe joining forces with some Minutemen to attack the stronghold at the end (as per the Institute ending). I'd love to clear the Commonwealth and maybe decontaminate the radioactive areas. -
How to get the best looking FO4...
snapper69 replied to Moksha8088's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'm playing FO4 on a 28 inch Iiyama 4K TN monitor and it looks and plays excellent. I'm currently using a Sapphire Nitro R9 390 and I very rarely get any slowdown, even with almost everything on the highest settings. -
You could always try playing without Power Armour, that would scare the c**p out of me.

Raiders spawning inside walled off settlement?
snapper69 replied to mac2636's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I usually build settlements with walls, but I put turrets (mini guns usually) facing inside as well as outside. -
Fortunate Son starts to play when rinding Vertibird.

Isn't that video from the series Tour of Duty? Every time I think of that programme I think of Paint It Black. -
I'm guessing that's a no then?

"We all know FO4 vanilla is a very mediocre game" That's your opinion, and whilst it may be a perfectly valid opinion (for you) you can't possibly speak for everyone who bought it, or even everyone on here. I happened to enjoy it, even before I started downloading mods for it, and I'm still enjoying it now. In fact, Fallout 4 re-kindled my interest in gaming, more so than even Witcher 3 was able to do. I have an XBox One which I rarely use (except as a Blu-Ray/DVD player) as the vast majority of my gaming is on my computer, but I accept that there are millions of gamers around the world who game on consoles, I don't like it when games are dumbed down for the PC as a result, but I still believe that we get the better end of the stick compared to console gamers. My understanding, when the current gen of consoles came out, was that they were more like the PC for developement of games and therefore the PC versions wouldn't need to be dumbed down so much.

1.5 = Tons of Settlement Attacks?
snapper69 replied to WastelandGeographic's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
That's one of those "that's so simple, why didn't I think of it" moments. Brilliant! -
Put them in Power Armour, then trade with them and remove their outfit, then tell them to exit Armour. Works for companions anyway (so I hear)

Are Nexus mods now working with FO4?
snapper69 replied to Nutulator's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
If you think that it's bad on here, take a look at the Amazon.co.uk general help forum, at the number of people asking about "£79" or "Prime", usually in a thread where the question has been answered several times already, if they bothered to read it, or even if they bothered to use the search forum box. This forum is a font of sensible questions and answers compared to that. -
I presume that it has to load the mods, so it seems reasonable that the more mods you have, the longer it will take. I've installed mine onto a spare SSD, which has brought the time down quite a bit, but even so, fast, it ain't.

1.5 = Tons of Settlement Attacks?
snapper69 replied to WastelandGeographic's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'm not sure why, but since I finished the main quest, I have about 50 Minutemen in Sanctuary, all hanging around my workbench. They don't show up on the stats, but they gave a party of raiders one hell of a shock, when they attacked Sanctuary and the Minutemen ran off towards the attack and mopped it up in short order. I played for about 4 hours yesterday and had to deal with 3 attacks on settlements.
