  1. There's a bit of a difference between "The Nords" who created the Empire, and the Nords who are currently in Skyrim.
  2. No. I'm sure half the posts in this thread already described why it's not.
  3. The one thing that keeps me from playing Skyrim more than I should is the freaking dialogues. Seriously Bethesda, fire whoever wrote the script and just use a room full of monkies next time. Maybe you'll get more lines to use for NPCs out of the five chimpanzees than the one writer you used. "Once I've made enough money from the--" GAH! IF YOU WEREN'T SO CUTE YSOLDA I WOULD KILL YOU IN A MOST UNPLEASANT WAY "Looking for my husband Nazeem?" I COULDN't CARE LESS ABOUT HIM! "Hello, I'm Gisl but you can just cai--" I KNOW ALREADY SHEESH
  4. The challenge in Skyrim, for me, isn't hard fights (MMO style Boss scripting), the challenge comes from not having HP, not wearing armour, and a lack of survival. I wear the Arch mage robes, Krosis, and some Leather gloves and boots. I have no armour class to speak of, and don't even have 250hp. Playing on Master difficulty, a bear can sneeze on me and I'll die. That's the challenege though. I'm playing a stealth archer (because that's what you do in TES) so all my fights have to be planned out with escape routes, Rune traps, and kiting space. If the target doesn't die before they reach me, I better be able to switch out my healing spell and Whirlwind Sprint away because I won't live to see a second attack. However, I thought it was just because I made my character like that, so I tried a Paladin. He's sporting nice armour class (200+ Iirc) in full smithed Steel Armour. Has a lot of HP, and is pretty tough to kill. And then a mud crab shows up and rips his face off...I'm seeing the same thing in Skyrim as I did in Oblivion. There is no "challenge" in the game, there's only monsters having a ton of HP and a ton of attack damage. Perhaps I'm just spoiled with Fallout3 mods when it comes to "challenge". When I played Fallout3, I used the overhaul mods that made it so if you broke a limb, you were screwed unless you had medicine skill or caps to heal it. In that game, it was all about actually surviving. Not just the fight in front of you, but the after effects of what that fight brought. One mis-step meant you had to limp back to town and spent 200 caps to heal yourself back up. In Skyrim, it's all about living through the fight in front of you. Once you do that, you have nothing to worry about. There's no need for future planning if something goes wrong; you just have to kill the guy and move on as if nothing has happened.
  5. Level 40 still using Scaled Leather Armour because they give +Sneak and Bow damage. Sure, I get two shotted by anyone with a sword and I get one shotted by any full dragon's breath, but god forbid I actually have to use tactics (Throw Voice + Fire Runes = <3) to kill my targets.
  6. I find it funny that Beth is calling it an HD pack. Most textures were increased by twice as much. (Which isn't a lot) 524x524 ran rampant everyone in vanilla, now they're 1048x1048. ~That's not bad, but they're not HD.
  7. Didn't know there were rivers of juices in Skyrim :x Did they look appetizing?
  8. For some reason, I find the lack of beverages in my game very immersion breaking. I know people have talked (to death) about food and drink being a requirement, but I have yet to see anyone mention the very basic: Why is there is no water, juice, or tea to drink? The only beverages in game is wine and beer. Don't get me wrong, I love wine as much as the next guy, but I'm no alcoholic and wake up to a glass (or bottle, in Skyrim's case) of wine. No, I much prefer a glass of Apple juice or Orange juice. So, if anyone would be so kind as to add in different beverages into their (obligatory) survival mod, it would be much appreciated! A list of Juices: Jazbay Grape Juice Juniper Berry Juice Snowberry Juice Apple Juice Teas: Mountain Flower Tea Dragon's Tongue Tea Elves Ear Tea Frost Mirriam Tea Thistle Tea I wouldn't add Nirnroot Tea or Nightshade Tea since they're normally poisonous =p
  9. I wouldn't say yes, per say, but it depends on the mod. I wouldn't ever use that Pony dragon mod, for example, but I love various armour mods and dungeon mods (Like Oblivion adding SFK and SM from WoW)
  10. What's good about Skyrim? The game looks amazing--Oh wait, nope. I had to mod it all to make it look like a PC game. The magic system i--Nope. Had it mod it all. The fighting system is good. Even if it's a pain in the butt to switch out duel wield We have dragons! Those are fun to one shot. The crafting system is nice! If only they spent some time to actually balance it... There's a lot of good quests thrown about. Dialogues are deep and thorough. (Sorry, bad joke) You can see the consequences to your actions throughout the entire game! I was actually rumored of helping some natives out of Markuth! There's like 100+ Voice actors now! Yeah, that random NPC may sound exactly like the Arch Mage and that bandit may sound like the bandit next to him who also sounds like the store clerk in the next town, but you better believe that there will be no duplicates of the Jarl voices! Hmm...what else is good about Skyrim? Oh, you can spend at least 100 hours just trying to find that darn knee-capper. I swear I saw him once in the mountains but a snow storm blocked my vision :( Don't get me wrong, Skyrim was a great game, but I found no reason to play it past one character (I quit about 17 hours into my second. 150 hours total). I played her very specialized in hopes of keeping the other options out there, but even with doing that, I felt like I experienced all Skyrim had to offer even though I've only finished the Mage's guild (in terms of major questlines) and a few Daedra shrines with some miscellaneous quests thrown about. Then again, you can't complain about getting 150 hours out of a game. It's what Beth is good at, making games large enough that they trump every other single player RPGs.
  11. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind styles like that, but with a game like Skyrim when I seek near flawless immersion, combat like that just kills it for me. It's nice in hack and slash games and grindfest MMO's because "lol immersion" but for Skyrim (and other more "realistic" RPGs), I feel there's just no place for it. Great things about mods though - You can have it and I can choose not to :D
  12. Pretty much what everybody else said. Combat is nice like that once in a while when I feel like playing a Korean grindfest, but I don't want it in my TES games.
  13. Make sure both the quest and the "Miscellaneous" is checked.
  14. ...An Ebony sword at level 19 and your complaining? You shouldn't be seeing Ebony until late 30's...
  15. Wait, people actually care about functionality of armour in video games? I thought that died in 04.
  16. I agree with everything else you named, but there are random skirmishes in the wilderness when you hit the roads. That was one of the pleasant surprises when I already had some agro about the impactless questlines. You mean those 3v3 or 4v4 battles? Lol...
  17. Quests have no impact on the world Grabbing system blows Dialogue is completely shallow at best THERE'S NO BATTLES! There's suppose to be a war going on, where are the battles for territory? Don't give me the "Follow the Civil War quests" killing 10 NPCs that are designed to die in one hit as they run up a hill isn't a war... I'm going to teach myself how to mod and make one where battles actually occur and troops actually move across the map and make it so each battle gets harder and larger as they get closer to the Solitude or Windhelm. This is WAR dangit!
  18. Enchants do not get tripled.. Like others, I have smithed my Ebony Bow to the point it does like 90 damage base. Even using Iron arrows I 1 shot most everything when sneaking now. Bosses take a bit more and dragons take about 10 shots.. Ancients about 20.. *LOL* You're right, forgot to mention excluding the enchant. My bad ^.^;
  19. If they fail so hard, why not make a UI yourself, OP?
  20. It would be a problem if, say, arrows were actually rare to come by...Give her 1.5k arrows and let her go. They should last a while, yes?
  21. Thalmor already do that. The Stendarr worshipers also already do that. Both these factions already have a base in which they work from. Why you can't join them in vanilla is beyond me (DLC?) I'm sure we'll see a mod for it within the coming months.
  22. I'm an archer with no smithing and enchanting skill at all. My bow does around 90 base damage (Just a +30 fire enchant on an Ebony Bow). Multiply by 3 and I pretty much 1 shot everything that isn't a boss. Those get two shotted. If they do live to the point of seeing me, I just break out Fireball and finish them off.
