  1. LOL! You're right, I didn't even think of that. Are you telling me that you are not a Diablo fan? I'm shocked
  2. I just watched a couple of video interviews from GameSpot with the devs of Blizzard's Diablo III. Despite the ten year wait for the game, and hyping it up for the last 2-3 years they STILL are not giving a release date. BUT, they are starting to divulge bits of information about the game folks are hoping is due for release in 2012 or 2013.....but with their current history, who knows when it will actually be, lol I've lost some interest in it, even though it was my favorite game before I discovered Morrowind. As I saw it once said a year or so ago, by the time they release the game, the engine will already be obsolete! The recent gameplay trailer I watched was pretty cool. Lots of flash and fire. Looks as though the old type of weapons have been replaced with more magicka based skills and items. Fans generally salivate when they even hear the words "Diablo III." But recent info releases have got many folks up in arms about the changes Blizzard is talking about making. The biggest outcry is coming from long time fans of the game who are outraged at Blizzard's move to make even single players always be online. I myself do not like this idea. As someone in the comments after the video said- what if you just finished a 30 minute boss fight, only to have a power outtage, or Blizzard's servers drop connection. Dropped connection was something that, when I played LOD on Battlenet, did happen quite a bit. It was easy to lose progress, valuable stuff or even your character. Plus if you didn't play your character at least once every 90 days, it would disappear, forever lost. This move is supposedly being implemented due to Blizzard trying to reduce the hacking and piracy of the game. I might be very dense and not seeing the bigger picture, but REQUIRING EVERYone to play online, whether they want to or not, (or even can), seems extreme. Then there is the fact that they will NOT support or allow modding of the game. Again, a ploy to try and reduce hacking and piracy. When I modded LOD, that was the best thing I ever did. Just increasing the size of the pack, storage chest and horadric cube was a big deal for a hoarder like me, lol Plus, we have such a vibrant modding community here, that really extends the life and re-playability of the game, I can't imagine a game company NOT wanting it to be modded! Then there is the "Auction House." Blizzard will not sell items, the process will be facilitated by them, but player/community driven. From what I understand, you can buy any item for sale, beginner to rare items for either in game gold, possibly Blizzard points, and for sure REAL MONEY! What do you think of this? Wouldn't this allow some folks to just advance without really playing the game? It's their choice and right, but it would seem like a huge cheat and take some of the fun out of it for me. But I do know folks do it now. I've seen Diablo items for sale on ebay before! I think the biggest reaction from the Diablo fan base is due to being forced to play the game online. Some folks didn't even use that option. I used it very rarely. I enjoyed playing alone with in game companions. I just think that is an over the top manuever to prevent piracy, so is no modding. Bethesda allows it and it has only increased the game's value. I wonder why this is such an issue for them? A lot of players cry GREED! since Blizzard will get a cut of all sales made through the Auction House. Your thoughts? If anyone would like to petition the devs to incorporate single player-offline mode back into the game, you can go here: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/diablo-3-offline-single-player-petition.html Here are links to the interviews: Update on Gameplay and Developments so far: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/diablo3/video/6326137/diablo-iii-the-story-so-far--interview-boyarsky?tag=related_video%3Btitle%3B1 Technical Aspects of the game discussed: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/diablo3/video/6326084/diablo-iii-technical-video-preview?&tag=stitialclk%3Bgamespace Discussing the Auction House: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/diablo3/video/6326089/diablo-iii--the-cash-money-auction-house-interview?tag=related_video%3Btitle%3B1 This site has lots of good info on the game, including a great new gameplay trailer- (shows the action with all the new characters): http://diablo.incgamers.com/ So, what are your thoughts on all of this, especially if you are a Diablo series fan?
  3. Thank you ub3rman!! As noob as it sounds, I've been trying forever to figure out how to properly use that tag!
  4. True, but the modders here more than make up for Bethesda's oversight in this area. I have a wonderful Bunker- Bella's Bunker by MDC519. It's right next to the Mojave Outpost. I have a nice apartment in the motel across from Ft. McCarran, just to name two. So check through the mods and I'd almost guarantee you'll find something to your liking.
  5. Most of those ARE hiliarious or like The Letter Home, just really well made and thought out. I enjoyed watching them. There really are so many out there, it's hard to pick just one!
  6. Very nice! Did make me sad though as it reminded me of two things..... 1. Skyrim isn't out until 11-11-11 2. Season 2 of GOT isn't out until next Spring  Good job on the vid
  7. I have two, both made by me, lol Just finished the one for FO3: I also worked hard on, and like this one I uploaded to the Nexus a while back: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33244 MyLifeForOdin does great FO3 and NV videos on youtube. Anything using Umpa's usually appeals to me. Baclo just uploaded one on the Nexus Fallout site called "Division." He did a really nice story line and uses both Oblivion and FO3 footage together. Very creative. (oh yeah...sorry for the shameless plugs up there, lol  )
  8. Started it out about 10 years ago. I have this huge 3 ring binder with all of my notes, concept art, etc. It is called The Red Door. The game is all about finding the red door to save a small town in the Louisana bayou. It's a fabulous (imho) plot line. I took the lineage of the main characters all the way from present day back to the 1500's. It's an action/adventure RPG. Has puzzles, exploration, several unique tweaks to make it very creepy, sinister and engaging. The plot is set up to make you think one person is the villain, when at the end you find out you're totally wrong. I created a whole new religion based on Santeria and VooDoo, with 10 corresponding deities. There is a relationship in everything that reflects the concept of good vs. evil, light vs. dark. Anything with a spooky, old fashioned carnival, plus a slaughterhouse in it, has got to be good, lol Actually I hate writing about it, because it's so much creativity going to waste. But I'm not a game maker. I can create the story and describe the mechanics, I just wish I could create it as well. It would be a great game.
  9. Well said and so true Vagrant. My daughter works for the local skating rink part time since she's in school. They are starting to rub her nerves big time. Same type of petty gritching from "managers" that are a few of them, younger than she is. They don't treat her like that though, meaning the verbal abuse, cause that's what it is. NObody should have to be talked to like a dog! I'd have a BIG issue with that, but ANYwho. When she comes home and complains, I remind her that this is one reason to stay on course in school so she can go to medical school like she wants. When you have these bitter, old heads in a no advancement career or a low paying job, they sometimes act like tyrants and take out all their shattered career dreams on the help. Shine it on, but don't let him treat you like s*** either dude!
  10. A friend of mine actually had the chance to visit E3 this year and got to play a demo of Skyrim! Lucky Dog!! He salivated just telling me about it, lol  He does say he is now UBER excited. Says gameplay is awesome, environment is awesome, so he's chomping at the bit. Thought we could use a report like this. Gives us more to look forward to
  11. Yep you're in the wrong place for NV help. Each game has its own forum page. Try going here: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?c=346,347,351 You can go to either Tech Help, Mod Talk, or whatever one looks to be the best place to get your question answered. You can also PM or leave a note here asking the admin/moderators to move this thread to the right spot. Good Luck!
  12. Looks like Spotify will launch here in the States after all: http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/web/07/13/spotify.us/
  13. The land of Dorothy and Toto- Oz, ok Kansas, lol
  14. Yes, but we're still allowed liberal usage of hot skewers, so cheer up. But in all seriousness, it's not about bowing to staff, or even being extra courteous. Frankly, I get annoyed when I know someone is trying to suck up to me or some other member of staff. The rules are easy, the environment is usually helpful and relaxed... We don't enforce the rules for the sake of the rules, we enforce them so that the environment doesn't go to crap and this place becomes just as bad as some sites out there. Think of moderators less of rulers or police, and more like super heroes from Silver Age comics. Dark0ne you cheeky one you, lol! Great answer a couple of pages back. I like this ^^ Vagrant. It is also good to know and cleared up a question I had over a couple of potential bans. I hate to see folks doing the suck up thing, since the vibe around here doesn't reinforce the necessity for it anyway. For those of you that feel they may be harsh, trust me, count your lucky stars. Not so long ago I was a moderator of the poetry section of a large adult community. My section ran well, with very few problems during the 3-4 years I was coordinator. However, the section designated as the "Anything Goes" discussion forums was a friggin free-for-all. I honestly felt (and still do) that admin LOVED a good cat/dog/heathen/fool fight! I've seen folks call each other names in flaming fight thread arguments that would go on for up to a week. Admin would do very little, if anything to put that nonsense to a screeching halt. Someone said a bit of conflict or trolling is amusing, well....it can be, but in these cases I mention, it was downright ignorant and atrocious. The board had fakers, fake profiles complete with pics! Items or language supposedly not allowed would be allowed, if only for the duration of 8-12 hours so the riot could be well incited by the time they mosied over to remove it. If someone did get banned, within 5 minutes, no lie, they could have a new profile up and running, continuing their reign of terror. Many folks had multiple accounts so that their "evil alters" could insult people, while the nice alters could ride the fence and just stir the pot, or watch on in glee at all the crap they'd started. Banning was a joke. I once had a person plagiarize her poetry. With my ninja search skills and instructor's spidey sense, I found the exact works. The offender hadn't even bothered to copy and retype. The whole piece was copied and pasted onto the thread. They got tons of compliments and kudos, when all along this wasn't even the poster's work! I as moderator called her out, informed admin, waited for instruction, and it never came. Not even a note to let me know they would read and review. SO I had to then introduce blanket statements, rules and examples of plagiarism to warn anyone that those types of infractions were scandalous and would cause shunning of that person's work if they were not banned by admin. Poor communication by admin with moderators/leaders in the different sections. So being clever and resourceful we learned to work around that and still try to maintain a fairly healthy, cohesive group in those sections. We got a LOT of lemons, thus we made lemonade when we needed to. So here, while "I" may not agree with an action taken by a mod or admin, I remember that as a member I am not priivy to EVERYthing that goes on behind the scenes. That's where faith in this system, and those who maintain, it comes in. We must trust that they are acting for the greater good and have taken all aspects of the problem/situation into account as they make their rulings. In fact, it reinforces my feeling on that as I'm reading the mod and admin comments here in this thread. They are honest enough to say- hey we ARE taking care of this, might be different than you would, but we're doing our best, even though you might not like, agree, or know all the implications of the actions we take. Again I say trust, a little trolling often blooms into a full fledged flame war complete with a side order of cheap shot name calling (even down to the mamas, grandmamas, and babies being used as ammo!) personal button pushing and downright bullying. And the clique action was over the top. During my total time there, I saw many good members flip the bird to the offending members on their way out of what had become a messy, petty brawl spot. This eventually lead to the site having to downsize. I was long gone by that time. It was like the rise and fall of a great empire. Very sad, since many GOOD things were there in the form of information, thoughtful debate, and loyal friendships. I don't miss it, but I do miss my section. Once I took over, it grew exponentially and the participants turned out some really quality, publish worthy work, myself included. I don't know which was worse that site, or the one where I had all my posts removed because I'd written in color and that was considered to be drawing attention, disrupting the board, or some other illogical explanation. I left there with the quickness! I'm grateful that I'm free to be me here. When my text is too dark or light someone (usually a gracious fellow member), lets me know via PM or in the threaad, so then I can correct the color and keep it moving. I love my colored text  So two things I learned- 1. The admin-mod system here is well oiled. They work as a team under a leader who they respect, and he respects them back. 2. The community is safe, you'll rarely be bullied (not for long anyway) or have your work stolen, be called names or any of the other foolishness we had back at the other site. And of course the community is invited to get involved through the use of PMing and the REPORT button. Use 'em, they really work! If we see questionable things/behaviors, a moderator or admin is never too far away and takes care of it as soon as they can. So action is decisive and quick. Again, this keeps conflict and drama to a minimum. There will ALWAYS be conflict on sites, especially ones of this size comprised of various ages, genders, cultures, ethnicities, et.al. It's all about how those things are handled, and even in this thread, you can see the majority of us feel things are being handled as saavy as possible in an environment such as this. Besides, a bit of cold water on a skewer wound, followed by antibiotic ointment will have you fixed up in no time ;) ANYway, just my 4 cents, cause Lord knows I talked way past two lol! :whistling:
  15. Hmmm...tastes like air, with a smidge of paint aroma. I mean come on....there's no user there, only a big red X, lol
  16. Ok, I'm an idiot! I thought I was in NV mod talk! I'll leave the info below though, in case you ever have the same questions about NV. The same author that made Bella's Bunker, also has two for FO3. They are Crystal and her Compound. This is a great compound with room for companions and Crystal is a good companion: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12840 and Victoria. She's quite the tank in battle, but has no house: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14971 I have Jasmine, who is a cutie and holds her own, also no house: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15758 My best companion is Dante. He is like a body guard almost and easy to work with. One warning, he's rude and crude talking, but that's what makes him special, along with his combat skills: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11111 As far as homes go, the Daniel's Family Vault is a great vault-player home. Even has a pool and working showers. Very nicely done with room enough for all my companions: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15187 Recently added this player home, also made by Crystal and Victoria's author- The Enclave Hideout. A great, roomy player home, with a bunk house for companions: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13982 I like to make dance videos using Umpa's, so I got this player home which is MASSIVE!! But very kewl! Called My Mansion Player Home. Has a nice quest too: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11852 Those are some to get you started anyway. I do have Groovy Followers, which allows you to recruit any NPC as a companion. Works great, I just hate having to rename him each time: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8927 Well, that's a lot, but I hope you find something you like in there  Try Bella's Bunker: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37705 She's a great companion and has a very groovy vault right around the corner from the Mojave Outpost. I had RR companions (and still do), but decided to try NCCS - NosCo Companion System: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38059 It was so easy to do, I ended up making 3 new companions of my own. Now I mostly travel with them when I play. That is a fun one. I also have Jade Companion: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38733 Another good companion, but no house or anything. You need RR for her to work. As far as must haves, I always use Fellout, The Electro-City Lighting mod, Advanced Recon Stealth Armor, plus other mods that add different foods to the wasteland. I've never really used the needs mods in FO3 or NV, only in Oblivion, so I can't speak to that. There are tons of bugfix mods, which with buggy ole NV you certainly need.
  17. I dunno if bugs just happen by coincidence (although I'd be willing to bet they do), but for me, game play time makes a difference. With both FO3 and FONV, at about the 3rd to 4th hour of playing time, I can predict a CTD. It has helped to purge the cell buffer periodically. There are mods out there that do it for you, but it takes like 5 seconds to open the console and type in "pcb" (without the quotes). That has helped greatly. I think with both games bloat is a problem. I would have thought that NV was the crashingest thing in history. Very buggy that one o_O But I've never had that many problems with FO3 crashing unless it was due to a mod conflict. That's why it's good to only activate one or two mods at a time. Trust me, I learned that the hard way, lol
  18. I got FO3 after I had been playing Oblivion for awhile. I didn't like it at first. The world of TES 4 was so much more beautiful and vibrant. Plus I was unfamiliar with the game and got my butt dusted pretty good at the beginning. Then I got NV for Christmas. I got captivated by that and played for several months. I just went back to FO3 to make some new videos. I actually started playing the game, and now have it modded and like it. BUT, neither of these two will ever replace Oblivion's appeal for me. Truth be told, Morrowind is still my favorite of them all.
  19. You can do it that way, or you can get a free program called FRAPS. This will use one of the F keys to take a picture in game. The free trial will take .bmps that have to be converted to jpg or png (I think on the png, used to be anyway) before they'll show up as anything other than black when uploaded to the board. I used to use Roxio Photosuite for that, but some folks just use MSPaint. FRAPS will also take 30 sec. videos with the trial version. Again, you configure an F key. You can also keep track of your FPS. I like it so much I bought the full version, especially since I take a lot of videos. Full version you can take screenies in .jpg or a couple of other formats of your choosing. Videos can be as long as you want. When taking screenshots remember to use the console command "tm" (without quotes) to turn off your menus and HUD for a cleaner shot. Using "tfc" will toggle the free roaming camera (best done in 3rd person view or you might see yourself standing there headless or something!) so you can take photos or videos from any angle. Taking screenshots is addictive, but oh so fun  Here's a link to check it out if you like: www.fraps.com/
  20. Jim_UK expressed my sentiments exactly and KD gave you some of the great reasons for going premium. I started with one month, then went to 6, now I'm up to a year. I do one year at a time so that I can continue to give back to the community in some small way over and over again. Another perk is that you can see all of the files you have ever downloaded. That's very helpful for me in keeping track of certain ones. My tracking centre is filled with too many "wants" whereas the files I've downloaded show me what I actually have and when I got them. No scam or problems, just benefits. As I always say, this is the first and only site that gets my hard earned money in the form of a paid membership. I'd do it as KD said and start wtih a month. If you like it, and it fits your needs, then there you go
  21. I bet pretty soon you'll be able to see snippets, or maybe even whole episodes on hulu or something. I think you'll like it. Now that you mention it on the Potter series, I do remember my daughter having to explain certain things, which were in the book, but not in the movies. That's always tricky as you say, because if something deviates a lot or is changed the viewer can get really confused because things just don't make sense. I read a LOT of Stephen King undergrad and beyond. His movies ALWAYS veered from the book in some way, often in really significant ways. He never shyed away from killing off kids in the books, but in the movies...naw, they always lived. Took some of the "ooomph!" out of the movies, imho. But as I've said for GoT, that definitely is NOT a problem, lol!
  22. Did they really BE? I was always thinking they followed the story of the Potter books pretty closely. My daughter read them all but the last 2 or 3, more than once even. She enjoyed the movies. Probably too young at that time to really analyze the differences, lol. I thought Deadly Hallows Pt. 1 was very slow compared to earlier installments. Makes me think Pt. 2 will be action packed. Of course there's the predictions purely from a literary point of view about the fate of all good heroes and such. But as with GOT, I hope they don't follow suit on those predictions  I haven't read the books Ghogiel, but from the synopses I read on the wiki, seems as though they did stay true, with the exceptions of the things you mentioned. I did catch a couple of things that were different, so I thought on key issues, they'd deviate, but no dice! I bet you'll also think they rushed a bit in the finale. Whether they did or not, it sure felt as though they did in certain spots. But good series overall, I'll be looking forward to it next spring.
  23. Well I thought about them and the possibility, but just thought they looked too old to do what they did. (How do you like my espionage talk? lol!) I will say this, there is much to come from what I allowed myself to see. But I'm so glad I stopped so I don't know everything! If I hadn't read some of those spoilers though, I would have been completely caught off guard with the twists that happened. The author did do a great job as BE says, of grabbing our attention, then reeling us in hook, line and sinker! Oh yeah BE! Me too! I'm telling you, they are following the books pretty close, so all those things I thought they'd do to keep certain characters as they were in the beginning of the series, was just thrown waaaay out of the window. I'm jealous! I bet the books are even better than the televised series, they usually are.
  24. Hmmm....well I don't know about that one. But I do remember reading that folks with like Windows Vista (I think, I can't remember for sure) and 64 bit machines may have trouble with this. I think I saw it on Umpa's Animation Dance mod description pages for FO3 and FONV. You might search the Nexus Wiki to see if it is addressed there anywhwere. Hopefully someone else with more experience than me will come in to help. Good luck with it!
  25. Excellent news! I knew you could do it! Just make sure you are planning ahead with alternate ways of coping should those old feelings come back again. That is not uncommon. In the world of mental health treatment, I teach my students you can't take away a coping mechanism, without giving one in return, hopefully a more healthy, positive one. Great job tho Calliton! You keep it up! We're very proud of you
