Do TES games really need large populations?
metaforce replied to stebbinsd's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Well I think it depends on what the maker of the game attempts to depict. Does the capital of Skyrim really feel like a big city with lots of activity? To me all cities in Skyrim feel like villages/towns. I dont want to sound like critisizing the makers, since I understand what you could do at that time with a PCs resources. Just a bit after that Witcher 3 came out. Now here I got Novigrad and that damn sure feels and looks like a big city. I guess he's trying to say that if you want a place to depict and feel like a big city then it needs a large population. In this case quantity and quality go hand in hand. Solitude is bound to always feel like a town, although its actually a large city. So the lack of quantity brings about a lack in quality, if you understand what I'm trying to say -
Need help with a standalone follower i made
metaforce replied to Nekroas's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm afraid the issue at hand is a blending of the hair mesh with the mesh of the armor/clothing. Its one of the reasons why in most games there is only short hairstyles available, which can't blend with the clothes. If what I'm thinking is correct then the only way around is unfortunately a different hairstyle...unless you're able to make a custom mesh which doesnt blend into the armor. -
Ok...hm...well. I will just tell you which mods I use for my respective builds. Generally I would advise you to give Perkus Maximus a look. It needs PcaPP patches and also a Java Patcher but the results are phenomenal. I wouldnt ever want to miss it again. Especially since you are going to use a wide range of abilities. Not gonna tell you about texture/mesh mods since taste differs widely among players and I'm sure you can find a nice sword for you. I mostly put emphasis on animations and good looks because that is what I like more than different game mechanics. Long story short here are my mods I wouldnt want to be without. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49784/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59849/? including http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59257/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18436/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69033/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56980/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34155/? (Dont use it together with Equipping Overhaul...however if you want to see a mages staff on your back I got the best results with DR since EO doesnt do a good job with that) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70142/? (No matter what character you play...eventually you will get bored of how vanilla skyrim handles radiant quests...so this one is a good way to improve that) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56614/? (Just adding a fresh effect to the same old sword changes the feel of the game..at least for me) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33914/? (Especially if you combine magic with a sword) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20923/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16351/? (for Twohanders) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77343/? (Again..the way my character moves changes the feel of the game a lot....for me. Dont know about you...but you might give it a try)

Sorry to say mate, but your load order is still very messed up. This is one of my load orders https://modwat.ch/u/metaforce Try to arrange your mods in a similar way. PerMa files need to be together and far more towards the top. Try to keep mod "effects" in one place and together (e.g. everything that adds/modifies NPCs like followers and the like), anything that modifies landscape together and so on. In addition, since you decided to install PerMa, you need the respective PcaPP patches. Mods like Valerica, Inigo, 3NPC and the like need to be together, not as far apart as they are at the moment, also you distributed landscaping mods too far apart, stuff like AddItemMenu should be closer to the end and so on. I dont know all your mods so I can't be specific about all of them.....Go through the list I added before....If a mod serves more than one purpose (landscaping which also adds NPCs for example) then put it at the higher place not further down In addition you might add the MCM Mod to Inigo http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70035/?

It depends a bit on what kind of character you are going to play. An archer? A mage? A warrior? Your question is very general. It really depends on what your character is going to be like. Personally I wouldnt install a major melee/archery overhaul if I'm going to play a mage. So please tell us a bit more about your future character

After looking through your load order I would say its not a very good load order (for example mods that add/modify/remove any kind of NPCs are not in the same place) So here is my advice. 1. Dont let LOOT sort your load order. It does fairly well with short load orders but yours is too long for that. Trust me...it creates more of a mess than it helps with long load orders...sort it by hand 2 As a guide you can use PcaPPs suggested load order. PcaPP load order I realise you dont use PerMa (yet....you might give it a try) However the way PcaPP advises you to sort your load order is a very good way to handle it 3. Did you clean your masters/other mods using TES5Edit? The masters are full of dirty edits and deleted references which can cause massive instabilities

I have an issue with a weird forehead texture
metaforce replied to CalienteJeff's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
This looks alot like an incompatible tint mask. Be sure to remove all mods that modify the headmesh/textures of female nords. After deinstalling said mods make doubly sure there is no leftover texture files for female nord heads in the respective folders. After that reinstall a fresh version (reinstall the mod dont just reactivate it). My assumption is that when you installed "pretty face" some leftover files of "women of skyrim" have not been removed, which caused an incompatible tint mask to be applied to their faces. -
console command to complete forge an iron dagger?
metaforce replied to jbsheridan's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
First of all Madcat is abolutely correct. A rudimentary item like that should always show up. So I also advise you to take a look what is causing said issue. Do you use Complete Crafting Overhaul maybe? That mod has options for certain crafting recipes to not show up. In any case if you don't want to bother with it, the console command to skip that quest stage would be setstage TutorialBlacksmithing 20 After that you should get the message to bring the dagger to Alvor -
Having issues creating a character!
metaforce replied to Deleted10140670User's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Do you use racemenu? If the answer is yes you can add a mask to the base of the neck to reduce the neck seam. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, please don't hesitate to ask....How this works is a bit more complicated to explain....so if you're really interested I can make a few screenshots and explain how it works) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29624/? If I may give you an advice. I''d switch to using UNP instead of CBBE. The CBBE slider sets are available in Bodyslide so you will not have to change the body shape. Just an advice...your choice though of course. I would also like to mention that I'm pretty sure you graphics on your new machine are better that on the old one, right? So you have to keep in mind that you can see your old character in more detail, possibly like you never seen before. -
As far as I can remember there is only one issue with the start of that quest. Said issue happens if you visit Mzulft or Deep Folk Crossing before reading Aetherium Wars. Do you use USLEEP ? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19/? If the answer is no, then install it and try to read the book again (outside the dungeon). USLEEP contains the Unofficial Dawnguard patch, which corrects that issue. Did you pick up any aetherium shards prior to reading the book? If yes then drop them and then read the book. If all else fails try and trigger the start manually in the console setstage DLC1LD_Misc 11 (be sure to be outside Arkngthamz when you enter the code) After entering the code you should get the message "Investigate the ruins of Arkngthamz". Unfortunately if that does not happen and the game does not react correctly to the console command, I have to advise you to go back to an older save game before picking up anything involved with the quest.

OK! Just offering help.

Wanting to mod the burnt house in Morthal, is it safe to do?
metaforce replied to Entrisen's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You have to be careful not just to replace it since the spot is involved in a quest (helgi's ghost appears there).- 3 replies

I don't see an ENB in your load order. Though your setup implies that you tried to set it up for Realvision. This could very well be the reason for crashing right after you start the game. The files needed for some of your visuals mods are in the wrong order. Also double check that you got all the Climates of Tamriel patches you need. I also see Realistic Nights in your loadorder. I'm pretty sure thats not compatible with ELFX. You'd need an RLO setup for it. Instead install night level 3 (or even less if you want it still darker) that comes with the CoT weather patch. You might also try the snow level that comes with the weather patch. Should be like this (keep these together in your loadorder since they depend on each other) ClimatesofTamriel - Dawnguard patchClimatesofTamriel - Dragonborn patchSupreme Storms - Cot Version.espCoT-WeatherPatch.espCoT-WeatherPatch_DB.espCoT-WeatherPatch_NL3 (or choose a nightlevel you like best)CoT-WeatherPatch_Snow-40CoT-WeatherPatch_SupStormsmintylightningmod.espMintyLightningMod_COT_Patch.espEnhancedLightsandFX.espELFX - ExteriorsELFX - EnhancerNext would be your ENB. In general your load order is still a bit messy. Check here http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59257/?tab=5&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D59257%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D2213034&pUp=1 and here https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/753253-only-you-can-prevent-forest-fires/ You got alot of environment mods installed. It's impossible to say if all of them are compatible with ELFX. I use a similar setup like I posted above (I added true storms though). Try deactivating all environment mods and then see if the game starts

@ Tr3x4rms3237 If you would allow chimichanga to somehow download her facegen data or give it to me I could make a simple follower out of her (using the vanilla follower system which could easily be modified by AFT for example) , or I could teach chimi about how to transfer the facegen data onto a player character.

Not a big help, but I stumbled over the house she is in http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59552/?

Go to the Nexus Mod pages and log into your account. Click on your account (top right) and choose "User area", Under "Files" click on "View your download history".

Ok....phew I uploaded the new list to Modwat.ch: https://modwat.ch/u/metaforce

Well, guess who taught me about that about 2 weeks ago. Look in the mirror. You probably don't remember since you answer hundreds of posts  I will work on this and get back as soon as I got the time.

See..... I told you its leftover animations files from FNIS Creatures

You're using an incompatible tint mask which is usually used for makeup. Which body texture mod are you using? Does it have a compatible tint mask you might be able to download? try using www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2812/? Personally I wouldn't use texture blender....If you have to modify texture files use Gimp (its free and very good) or Photoshop if you have it available....Remember to get the dds plugin for Gimp if you decide to use it. There is also the grey face workaround you can try: Open CK and load the mod that contains the NPC in question (or just vanilla esm if its a vanilla NPC)go to the actors tablook for the NPC in questionOpen her entry (rightclick and choose edit)Check if "Is CharGen Face Preset" is UNCHECKEDclose the edit windowHighlight her entryHit CTRL + F4Confirm the popupClose CK (You don't need to save)

Since you two have a similar problem as in this post I recently answered to https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/4847395-face-texture-missing/ I would like to ask you to move there and answer the questions I asked in my post

Generally only Mods that add/modify/remove specific items or NPCs, spells and so on need an esp. Your mod is a texture replacer which doesn't need an esp. The meshes/textures are simply loaded INSTEAD of the vanilla ones the game comes with. So no cause for concern about that supposedly missing esp. Go to the Mod dowload page and click on that little looking glass next to where it says COMPLETE FULL. All the files and folders you see now have to appear in your Skyrim/Data/textures folder. If they are not there you installed the mod incorrectly

90% of all crashes on startup are missing masterfiles. There is a SKSE plugin which can help. Do you use SKSE to start your game via Steam? If the answer is no then get SKSE on steam (don't worry it's free). Remember to start your game using the SKSE loader from then on. Once you have done that go to Skyrim\Data\SKSE\ and look for skse.ini (should be there by default but if not then generate it using Windows notepad). In skse. ini add the following: [General]ClearInvalidRegistrations=1EnableDiagnostics=1 [Display]iTintTextureResolution=2048 [Debug]WriteMinidumps=1 (you can keep that at 0 too) After that get: Crash Fixes http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/? and Bug Fixes http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76747/? After having installed it go to to Skyrim\Data\SKSE\Plugins\CrashFixPlugin.ini Open it with Windows notepad and modify UseOSAllocators=1 Lastly get SKSE Preloader: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75795/?
