  1. You do realise that unless the system is exploited (which is often quickly fixed), it is actually not feasible to simply distribute Steam game files? I have a lot of games on Steam, including Fallout 3. Things like FOSE, work a dream I don't recall the Steam version of a game having ever prevented me doing anything that I would do with a retail copy. I mean, at the end of the day you can *censored* all you like about Steam but it won't change anything, lol.
  2. You could try downloading an older version of the mod to see if that download works. However, I'm assuming you are able open other compressed archives (rar, zip, 7zip, etc)?
  3. It could be that the download itself is corrupt, have you tried a different mirror?
  4. 19th for Noth America, 22nd for Europe... Additionally the wiki's are based on infomation that the developers have let slip of the tounge, untill the game is released nothing said can be confirmed factual or not.
  5. In theory it would be relatively easy to make versions of current existing mods for New Vegas, as it is the same engine and assumably the same base code some mods may natively work without modifications. But it's all theory untill it's released.
  6. For one, you have Steam Cloud, easy Updates, easy access to future DLC - etc. PLUS, the devs don't have people whining about DRM or say GFWL. There are many reasons for it to use Steam, many of which do in some way benefit the average end-user. lol
  7. Steam possesses an Offline mode - You only ever need to login once to activate and verify the product. You do not need a persistant connection.
  8. The thing is that the vast majority of people do have an internet connection at home and as such a platform such as Steam is perfect as it provides anti-piracy protection and limits the hassle for not only the end-user but also the developers themselves. You claim they have 'no right' to make you activate the product via the internet, yet they do have every right as it is their product and you are merely purchasing the right to use that product according to their EULA and contract. No one is forcing you to buy the game remember.
  9. Skotte, what game was this? If it was release day then it was unlikely there was a patch released and it was merely a hitch with Steam detecting the game files correctly on the disc, if you look at the Steam support FAQ there is a workaround to this which would've saved you from having to download the game via Steam. As for Steam being unstable, care to elaborate? It's most likely to do with your PC than Steam itself.
  10. As it is a game that uses steamworks you will need to run it via Steam anyways, even if it is a retail purchase. However, Steam will have no impact on the ability to use mods or things such as FOSE/FOMM (assuming a version of them is released for Fallout: New Vegas)..
  11. If you provided valid proof of purchase from a legitimate distributor whom LucasArts conduct business with, then I see no reason as to why LucasArts would continue hassling you. Ignore it, if they take you to court then the case will most likely be thrown out before it is even heard.
  12. I like it, looks well done. Reminds me of the Japanese Tengu unit in red alert 3.
  13. Mate, that's impossible to say. Minimum, Average and Maximum framerates all vary depending on quite a lot of variables. Not just your processor and Graphics card (which are not very powerful to be fair)
  14. Of course, FoSE is legit. It's a nifty little piece of equipment which allows people to do far more modding wise than the restrictions of the GECK.
  15. Spotify is technically still in beta and is legal whereas Grooveshark isn't last I checked. I only have one playlist on Spotify as I got lazy. User: Gishank Genre's: Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Heavy Metal, Folk Rock, Neue Deutsch Harte, Industrial Metal, Power Metal, Punk... The list goes on, but you get the idea.
  16. Hmm, guess i'll definately give it a go when the beta comes to Europe. lol
  17. I heard about this a while ago, now as much as it sounds an interesting idea. From your experience, what seperates it from other generic Korean MMO's?

There are no modifications for Mass Effect 2, this is because no modding tools were released to the community and as such it's not possible to decompile the code to modify it. There are a handful of cheats available which can be found here, top of the list in a google search.
  19. As stated whilst my rig can be considered high-end, it doesn't use hardly any resources along with several other programs running in the background. So in theory, it shouldn't be resource consuming on systems that run it on the lowest settings and exceed the minimum specs. I have a friend who plays it and has a rig that doesn't meet the minimum specifications but it runs fine on the lowest settings. @Keanumoreira; I purchased it retail for £19.99, and activated it on my Steam account.
  20. It looks an interesting build, though there would be three things I would note. It's clear you want all out power but honestly at the end of the day I think you're throwing money at something that will naturally become outdated in 6 months. 1) CPU - Whilst you could easily wait for the Bulldozer's to come out, you would be better off getting the 1055T as at the end of the day you wouldn't notice any difference in gaming, plus the 1055T has serious overclocking potential (even on third-party air-cooling), so if you need more power you could always overclock in the future. But untill people start optimising their game-engines to be more efficient in supporting multi-core CPU's, it's pointless throwing money at tech you won't use to its full potential and will just be outdated in 6 months. 2) GPU's - To be perfectly honest you won't ever 'need' more than a single high-end GPU in your system, I think you're just wasting money here. Whilst I personally would opt for an SLi compatible motherboard rather than ATI's Crossfire as Nvidia offer superior all-around GPU's, I would note that you will need a far more powerful PSU if you're thinking of doing something silly like quad/tri-crossfiring high-end GPU's. There's no question that ATi Crossfire or SLi offers superior performence to a single GPU however you may be better off getting a single high-end GPU now and upgrading to cross-fire when neccessary in the future ;) 3) HDD - The SATA 3 (6Gb/sec) on HDD's is more or less a marketing gimmick, no HDD can make use of the SATA 2 (3GB/sec) bandwidth... SATA 3 is aimed more or less at SSD's which operate far faster. You would be better off going with the Western Digital Cavier Green WD10EARS, it's cheaper and offers the same performence.
  21. I purchased this the day before yesterday for around £20. I've had the full Civ IV collection on my PC for a while and haven't played it too much as it felt outdated and combat wasn't really tactical or relax so to speak. However I am thoroughly impressed with Civ V, both visually and gameplay wise - it feels new and modern, though it also does away with some of the pointless features, but throws in some awesome new ones such as the redesigned combat system which makes things far more tactical. To be perfectly honest, I disagree about it being taxing and I would say it is fairly well optimised, I run it on the following at the highest DX10 settings at 1600x1200. CPU: AMD Phenom II 1055T hexa-core @ 2.8Ghz RAM: 8GB of Kingston Hyper-X Genesis 1600MHz DDR3 GPU: ZOTAC Nvidia GeForce GTX285 1GB VRAM, Overclocked/AMP! edition I also have several things running in the background such as HWMonitor, Firefox (usually 5-6 tabs aswell as downloads going), Spotify, Windows Live Messanger, ESET Smart Security, Steam (obvs) and I never see more than 25% of my system resources used.
  22. BBBAWWW STEAM'S BAD, BAWWWW BAWWW. However seriously. I have been a user of Steam since the start of 2007 & I purchase near enough all of my games on it, I also have New Vegas pre-ordered via Steam. There isn't really any issue with it, sure you need to have it running so you can play a steam based game yet as Steam is chosen to be the DRM platform, additional copy protection isn't needed... Steam itself isn't too resource intensive and I have it running 24/7. So basically - if it didn't make things worse, there would be more painful forms of DRM such as *shudder* GFWL.
  23. I'm not going to bother getting it as I already have it and all of the DLC on my PC (save for the latest recently released one). Honestly the only difference between the PC and PS3 versions is probs that it'll include a DLC pack or two and that's how they get away with 'new added content'
  24. Can you provide anything to actually back that up such as a scan of the (official) guide? You'll find that the Aliens had been abducting humans and experimenting on them long before the Great War, additionally if they could communicate with the Humans, why wouldn't they?
  25. Hi. Most of you do not know me as I am one of those people who tends to browse the forum more than actually post. I wish to bring to you, the community - A modification concept, with the hope of acquiring people to form a team to hopefully get the concepted modification project off of the ground. Bringing Battlestar Galactica, to Fallout 3 - Essentially. The mod itself will fit into Battlestar Galactica's canon by splitting off at the Series 3: Episode 4 - Exodus (Part 2)... With the entrance of a prototype design Battlestar. I don't want to give too much away as to story etc.. But this is more of a general idea as to who would like to see a Battlestar Galactica mod?
