  1. No, there is no way to legally acquire the DLC other than via Biowares site, hell even if you attempted to pirate the files it'd fail anyhow as you need to login with your EA account for it to verify you own the DLC ;) -- Also, have you tried using a debit card instead of a credit card?
  2. Sorry? What's stopping you from playing other games whilst one updates... Because I can play STEAM games just fine whilst another is updating.
  3. Steam is a content delivery service, personally i've been using Steam for about 2 and a half years. I love it due to its simplicity and ease of use, I have purchased a good number of games via STEAM. As Fallout: New Vegas will use Steamworks you will need to activate it (no matter wether you buy it via retail or from Steam itself) on Steam once, however after activating it you can naturally select "Offline Mode" in steam if you are not going to be connected to the internet. Some people have had issues with Steam but to be perfectly honest I have never heard of an issue which hasn't been somehow the fault of the end-user. Pros of Steam; Always have a backup of your games. Regular, and often great deals on games. Games which use Steamworks often have Steam cloud support, so always have a backup of your save games. Steam Cloud. The Steam Community. @Ben & Uber - You simply uncheck start steam with Windows in the options menu of STEAM, works fine for myself.
  4. I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) and it works perfectly fine for me, if you're still having issues and are sure it's FOSE and not some mod which has issues, try running the FOSE launcher as an Admin in compatibility mode with Vista/XP. Though I doubt it's an issue with Win7.
  5. Yes, you can. Assuming the system isn't a major trading hub like say Dodixie or Jita.
  6. If you have a GFWL account you must buy non-refundable Microsoft Points which can then be used to purchase the DLC, at which point it is assigned to your GFWL account and then downloaded. At least I would assume that's the process.
  7. It's unfortuent. But hopefuly Beth have learned their lesson and won't put the fanbase through the same issue with NV. Also - You can purchase Pitt, Anchorage, Broken Steel & Point Lookout on disc as semi-expansion packs.
  8. Yes, version 1.6 is a must for all DLC's other than Zeta which requires the game to be patched to 1.7. Patching your game is always beneficial generally as it fixes bugs, etc...
  9. The simple answer to this is to acquire your DLC legitimately. Even if GFWL is a pain. ;) EDIT; Though on a more serious note, the issues you're describing are those which are experienced when you do not have the latest patch. You can download the latest patches from... http://fallout.bethsoft.com
  10. 1) If you've not noticed the vast majority of robots are owned by organizations which have gone extinct, etc. 2) It's a big place, and considering the sheer scale of nuclear war's devestation it's surprising that there are so many human suvivors. They would sooner burn the dying trees than places which can be used as shelter. 3) Trash is a global term, and can easily be applied to the debris. Game mechanic wise is another story. 3b & 4) If you've not noticed there are several military facilities, including a reasonably large military base / armoury. Considering Fallout canons culture post-war, it's not surprising there are so many firearms about. 5) Nuclear Generators naturally require management, they cannot work standalone without human intervention. Even so, lightbulb's themselves, power cables etc are not going to last 200+ years without matinence. 6) You'll find that there is ALOT of technological equipment produced post-fall. Granted it may not have any form of major breakthrough, but without untainted time & resources aswell as sufficient manpower it's to be expected. 7) It can be assumed that she was taken on as an apprentice by another person with expertise, either way there is nothing saying that the title may not simply be self-proclaimed. 8) Schools? It can be easily assumed that there are other schools not directly on the map area... It can also be assumed that other schools within the mapzone were either completely obliverated in the attack, or simply crumbled away. Ultimately. It's a game... Stop complaining and simply enjoy it for what it is.
  11. 1. - Deus Ex 2. - KOTOR I & II 3. - Fallout series 4. - Bioshock series 5. - Men Of War 6. - Soldiers: Heroes Of WW2 7. - Hitman (series) 8. - Star Wars Battlefront (Series) 9. - Super Mario Smash Brothers, original on the N64 10. - The Saboteur
  12. Fallout 3 is primarily a free-roaming exploration game, the main quest is just the base storyline. You'll find there's plenty of side-quests and other things to do.
  13. Firstly - There are only a handful of Intel Celeron processors that actually have 64-bit compatibilty, so you'd need to look more in-depth into the matter. Secondly - As has been previously stated by others, Windows XP (64-bit) is fairly buggy and has ALOT of compatability issues especially with games.

    Steam sale

Personally I think STEAM is a great service, i've been using it for a couple of years and I think it's great when they have their annual christmas sale.
  15. It's possible if you used FOSE to create it. (assuming it's hard-coded)... I remember seeing a tutorial not too long ago on these very forums, so try having a search.
  16. You don't *need* a graphics card that supports DX11 to install DX11, just pointing that out. You just won't be able to use the DX11 graphical improvements.
  17. I just wish to make a note on this thread, I personally had Vista Home Premium (32-bit) not too long ago before upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). I personally never experienced any issues with UAC - And I was using the STEAM based version of Fallout 3 which installs into "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3". So it's not neccessarily an issue with the Vista OS in specific I believe.
  18. True.. Though the mod would need to have some form of combat rather than in a sense just passive running errands and exploration.
  19. First things' first, make sure you have at least patch 1.6
  20. I believe that this issue is cause by a missing model.. Try reinstalling the mods?
  21. This thread is pointless. You shouldn't blame Beth for the game not being stable on your PC, the majority of people can run it fine without any issues. I personally have never experienced crashing with Fallout 3, with the exception of a single occasion when the OA DLC played up.
  22. You raise a good point Penny, though soldiers committing a war crime would not neccessarily mean that rationing and martial law would be in effect. Perhaps closer to 2077 when international relations begin to radically collapse martial law is brought in, though the other things you noted such as parading about in full armour and with obvious weaponry would obviously arouse suspicion but you wouldn't be able to be detained by the authorities for doing so. Although I am not an American I believe that the American constitution states that any citizen of the USA has the right to bear armaments. Additionally, I aim to keep the pre-war interesting by implementing new quests, and perhaps attempt at adding a new area of DC... I will also ask select modification authors for permission to use their select mods as Fan-Fiction to add some new things to toy around with. (Of course nothing that would upset the canon too much)
  23. I'll keep you in mind, honestly I have no issue with non-professional voice actors (as long as a false accent isn't attempted xD, see Men Of War and you'll know what I mean.).
  24. Do not blame the matter on Windows 7 specifically, as I personally have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the DLCs work fine for me. Make sure you game is patched to the latest version.
  25. Either way, lets not derail this thread by trailing off onto gramma-nazisim. As long as it isn't l33t speek it's fine in my books.
