Better lanterns would be great, since they're everywhere. Shop signs with dramatic normal maps would also make a pretty big difference.

You could always go the route of using solely text-based dialogue and even text-based audio indicators instead of audio while such a project is in its early stages. Many sounds could be used from Skyrim instead of Morrowind sounds. It wouldn't be as authentic, but it would be safer.

That might be the case if I was planning on SELLING the mod, but there have been countless examples of entire games being adapted to a new engine as a mod, i.e. Black Mesa (full Half-Life conversion using HL2:E1 engine). I could make a 1:1 copy with all original assets, and as long as it's made available as a mod, which by definition requires full purchase of Skyrim before a player can use it, is legally protected. As ownership of every Elder Scrolls game has belonged entirely to Bethesda, there is no fear of copyright infringement. There was already a mod which did this in the Oblivion engine. Bethesda wasn't too pleased with it. You should probably look more closely at that history, and see what to do differently, if you want to pursue your own project in Skyrim.

Since I don't experience issues in the first place, it would be difficult to experience less.

It would be cool if there were a lost Dwemer community buried deep somewhere, perhaps they'd all be asleep through magic. I wouldn't be too surprised if Bethesda comes up with something similar for a Skyrim expansion.

As an archer assassin, heavy armor is superfluous. An ideal archer needs no armor at all.

It's depressing for me, because I'm not a huge fan of Nord ethno-centrism, being an Argonian and all. It would be great if there were more non-Nords in Skyrim. It would it make it less lonely for those of us who don't care much one way or another if you're Stormcloak or Imperial. As for your preference related to the visuals, I suggest the Himmelsrand mod. My own preference is for a bit more saturation, and my configuration is actually posted under the optional files there (just overwrite the config from the main download if you want to try it). It's worth a try, if you want to saturate the visuals a bit and make the world a bit more vivid.

Who else is ambivalent towards the whole marriage thing?
xaliqen replied to xaliqen's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I don't think anybody was treating it like one. Though, I would like to see a play-through where the player treats it like a real marriage! "Look, I can't get those goat legs you wanted for the soup because I have a pressing appointment with the Dark Brotherhood... Yes, I know you want me to stop taking their contracts because of what happened to your uncle, but, trust me, they're not like that anymore!" -
I've been using mods with the Steam version of Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas pretty much since the day each of them were available. I wouldn't worry about using mods with Steam, it's really not that different. I'd turn off the Steam Cloud sync, but, other than that, have fun modding. I apply large address aware patches to every new game release on Steam without problems, so I wouldn't worry about that either. There are a bunch of tweaks listed here. There's even a Skyrim ini generator here. As always, make sure to back up your ini file before replacing or editing and know that some of these tweaks are bound to be experimental.

I have the quest to cure vampirism by giving Falion a filled black soul gem in Morthal. I give him a filled black soul gem, and he tells me to go to the marsh where he'll perform the ceremony at dawn. I stand in a particular spot near the stone circle in the marsh until my quest updates to speak to Falion. I go to speak to him next to the stone circle and he only has the usual speech options, no quest-related options. As a result, the quest is stuck and won't update. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Alduin's wall is impressive, but I think it could be downright awesome with an ultra high-res retexture. I don't know if there are currently any high-res sources available in promotional materials that might help, but I just thought I'd put this out there as an idea.

Am I the only one who is scared of dragons?
xaliqen replied to Violentguy's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I can take down dragons pretty easily with a bow. The boss-level bandits, on the other hand... -
I agree completely and really don't understand why this is there in the first place. My guess is it's unintended and should really be considered a bug in the game that needs fixing.

I pre-ordered through Steam. So, no map for me. I'm not missing it, though, to be honest.

I love Skyrim, I love Elder Scrolls and I love Bethesda (most of the time). That said, there's no way I can see Skyrim outselling MW3. I don't like the Modern Warfare series, but, to exaggerate slightly, I'm one of about three people on the planet who doesn't own one of those games.

Did you disable mouse acceleration (mouse smoothing) in the ini file and disable vertical sync (vsync) as outlined here? It may help. Also, for most people the ini file you need to edit is not the one in your Steam folder as indicated in that article. Instead, you'll need to change the SkyrimPrefs.ini file located in C:\Users\YourWindowsUsername\Documents\My Games\Skyrim instead of the one in the Steam folder. Remember to make a backup.

In Steam, default key to take a screenshot is F12. In the Steam application, look at view-->settings-->in-game to adjust.

Since each of the Elder Scrolls games is so large, I enjoy pieces of each game more than the others. Certain Oblivion questlines, for example, are going to be difficult to beat in my opinion (especially the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild questlines). It's also difficult to outdo the unique feel of Morrowind's environment, architecture and cultural ambiance. As for Skyrim, I really would enjoy more diversity (I understand Nords are everywhere, but, playing as an Argonian, I do feel a bit lonely). The main questline for Skyrim may be the best out of all of them, but I'll have to wait making that judgment until I complete it.

I just think it doesn't make sense if you're a vampire and can't drain your victims. Similar to the game Bloodlines, I think it would be cool if you character could drain victims as a sneak attack.

Steam's never been an issue with my modding. If there've been a few hiccups, I'm able to find a solution pretty easily. Just be sure to disable the steam cloud option, since this may interfere with the game. I'm kind of surprised at all of the hate for Steam. As someone who uses it on a daily basis and has compared it to the competition, Steam does a good job in my estimation. I'm guessing most of you who have such a deep hatred for Steam haven't used it very much.

It looks like there's still work to be done in terms of improving the guards. There've been a couple times where, if I don't let an actively hostile NPC hit me first before I fill them full of holes, all of the guards descend on me. This also happened when no other guards were present, and I took down a hostile character who was coming straight for me, then I go outside to find 15 guards ready to make me their personal pin-cushion...

I'm imagining the role playing here, and, at least how I'm imagining things, it would be a bit difficult. I'm just thinking of an entire city running in terror as you smash your head through a wall so you can ask about a fence at the thieves guild... I'm guessing it would be easier if there were a questline devoted solely to playing as a dragon. If a team starts on this ambitious project, there's no doubt it could be truly awesome.

So, you have an NPC running at you with their fists raised up to knock you one. Instead, you punch five arrows through their chest. But WAIT, did you let them hit you first? If not, you'll have 15 guards running after you, since clearly you're in the wrong for defending yourself... :pinch: Also, don't forget certain dragon shouts, even though they do no harm, are considered a form of molestation and will have you being pursued by entire villages (even if they were only intended for one person who's clearly trying to kill you)... Anyway, I thought I'd post this as something to potentially look at for a future guard overhaul.
