  1. Did you save your edited version in meshes/characters/_male and use an archive invalidator like the one in Oblivion Mod Manager? Sometimes that will be necessary if you weren't using a body mod before. Resizing a dress should work, yes. Honestly, though, your best bet on getting something that looks the way you want will probably involve editing in a modeling program like Blender or Max. And yes, this community has gotten a lot nicer in recent months thanks to liberal use of the banhammer by scrupulous moderators. ;)
  2. I'm beta testing another mod that uses that method for NPC's - I think it's a good way to go, especially since that avoids conflict with player body mods (and I don't use the most popular one). I wish you the best of luck with your project, and I'm always up for help when you have questions.
  3. Robert has even made some "fat" and "skinny" male meshes, which are available from the mod section at Slof's Hive (adult content warning there). I don't know of any similar fem ones yet, though - I made a BBW FF version but never released it because I wasn't willing to do all the clothing/armor work inherent (though I would like to play a character like that, given that it's my RL body type and I'm not ashamed of it).
  4. You will probably only see those edits on nude characters. A clothing mesh equips in place of the body, not on top of it. That's why there aren't even more body mods than there are - to really see one in your game you have to have full clothing and armor support for it.
  5. I think the armor .blends are an AWESOME idea - hopefully this will be a boon to newbies. :)
  6. I didn't know about the .esm - I will download it at once and look forward to your mod. :)
  7. I can see why you'd want a round bed mesh. It would definitely fit that dais better. :) I like your set design and I especially love the hot tub. I think every house mod needs both fire and water - basic human comforts. I'm not sure I want to add COBL to my game, though.
  8. The daedric artifacts divide about half/half for me on things to keep or give up. I can usually spare the weapons because their meshes tend to be disappointing and their stats "balanced" to the point of being useless compared to my modded items. I always keep Azura's Star (so hard to hang onto Grand Soul Gems) and the Skeleton Key; sometimes I keep the Sanguine Rose for its pretty mesh (though it's not very useful). Anything else is pretty much up for grabs.
  9. Heh. Gaming is definitely something all ages do in the United States. :) The consoles are probably a bit more popular with kids than PC gaming (partly because it's a bit more technical).
  10. I'll be 27 in October. Oblivion has a lot of fairly grownup content and many mods are even more so. While I can see why younger gamers might enjoy it (especially those already used to a fair amount of violence), it's definitely targeted toward an older crowd.
  11. :D This one honestly made me chuckle. 242: If companionship in real life were like Oblivion, you would step out of your wedding only to see your spouse charge forward and, using only the wedding bouquet, attack a gang of street thugs armed with handguns.
  12. 60. Male Khajiits and Argonians have an unusual congenital defect that causes them to sound Russian when all of their female counterparts sound American. 61. Bretons have French names, but British accents. Huh? 62. It doesn't matter how cool the magic weapon looks, if you get it at level 1 it will suck forever and ever. 63. Amazons don't care if you ARE female, misandrist and bloodthirsty, they want you dead. Now. 64. Judging by their reanimated remains, the ancient Ayleids were all identical to one another. Perhaps inbreeding is the real reason they died out. 65. Only human and elven races can be raised from the dead. 66. A game can have exactly one semi-seductive female animation, and until umpteen billion sexy anim mods come out, that animation will be used unto death. 67. Any game that can be even slightly modded will eventually be made to contain anime cat girls, "sexy" vampires and G-string armor. Eventually someone will release a game whose main character is a sexy vampire catgirl in a metal bikini, and the world will end.
  13. Couldn't agree more. I'm always looking for new and different houses for my characters. Top of the World, Touran's Tower and kalikut's Snow Globe for SI are my favorites so far. Most of the time you're going to want either new meshes or new scripting (both is nice, but one can substitute for the other if you're creative), or the house is just plain boring, but it could be a good learning experience even then. And the OOO/compatibility problem is exactly why I always do my new armors in shops. I love FCOM and so do lots of other people, and that's hard enough to get working by itself without trying to opt in another set of lists yet. I'm also always looking for (and making) armors for Fantasy Figures/Robert's that aren't softcore porn, but that's not work for a modeling newbie and most people have strong preferences regarding body mods. ;) Weapon mods that contain something other than swords are also nice, and weapons are a good first modeling project because you don't have to rig like with clothing.
  14. Hm... I thought at first you meant AlienSlof's dremora retex for Robert's bodies, but those still have horns and Dremora features. Perhaps you mean kikaimegami's work? ...Darn it, I can't find a link. Anyone know if kikaimegami ever released that Dremora stuff he or she was working on?
  15. You're right, that's bizarre. I couldn't figure out if the idea was that they were "faking" the beggar voice for sympathy, or it was just an error.
  16. I heartily agree. Now we just have to get people to actually read the pinned threads before they post...
  17. I'd like to see LAN-play wherein two to four people could explore the world of Tamriel in a party, doing different quests, pooling loot, etc. As an MMORPG, an Elder Scrolls game would lose everything that I like about the Elder Scrolls. As a smaller LAN/private multiplayer experience, it would still be possible to enjoy exploring, actually make a difference in the game's world, and have fun with friends without dealing with obnoxious jerks unless you just want to. I loathe the entire MMORPG concept and I would hate to see TES turn into that, but I agree that something more like Diablo II could still be a lot of fun.
  18. Morrowind was also already set up for throwing knives and crossbows, which Oblivion isn't.
  19. Nope, you can't activate that pressure plate except from the other side of the door (arrows/spells won't work). That plate is to let you get out of the ruin when you're done without having to retrace your steps - most Ayleid ruins are circular that way. Go to the room DeusXMachina said and look for random wall buttons. They'll probably be square and have a glowing thing in the middle, not exactly inconspicuous.
  20. Others have done them also. My Syntyche's Cavern mod has a sickle and two scythes, and the Deadly Clutter mod makes existing ones playable.
  21. Good one. :D Those darn cheating ogres. Does it bother anyone else that only MALE Argonians and Khajiit have Eastern European-type accents, while the females all sound American? (In Morrowind both sexes had the same accent, so it's not like there's precedent.) I'd also have really liked it if there hadn't been so much overlap with the racial voices in general (someone mentioned the Dunmer, who now sound effete and snotty instead of tough), but that's a common complaint.
  22. Thanks, Marcus - I've actually already made a molded copper breastplate (like one of the ones shown there, a little more orange and less yellow than brass) which will be in my Corwyn/Robert update to my Syntyche's Cavern mod. Mr. Walther - Sorry, I almost never make armor or weapons from other games/media for Oblivion. I hadn't realized the Mithrodin sword was from something else before.
  23. I've seen a lot of requests for child mods around, but I really doubt that's ever going to make it into a game out of the box. Too much sensationalistic press potential - "This is the game where you can kill babies! To arms!" :D
  24. Silly kitty. You're attempting to use the rules of logic again. :D
