Have you tried to disable the basements mod? You should try to disable any mods you have recently added, enablling one at a time. Only install 1 mod at a time. Are you using the latest version of renguard? I don't know the all in one basement, but if it requires you to load with obse, make sure you do that. Also check to make sure you haven't installed a mod that depends on another one without having it.

the bsa isn't your problem. It is your solution. If you look in your data folder, you should be able to delete the esp. Then delete every file associated with it. Like bben46 said, you need to make sure that all files in all subfolders are delted (the ones related to the mod). This will make it so the mod never existed. You then can install it again. I like to keep saves of my esp every day that I work on it. I copy the esp and paste into another folder. Then I rename it with the date it was modified. You can rename a mod just fine. The oblivion bsa's are essentialy like a rar or 7z file. They are compressed and can't be altered easily. Your changes didn't seem to effect any textures/meshes, only dialogue. You can alter dialogue fairly simply, just make sure you compile the results. Make sure that if you change the quest variables in any way to compile it. It sounds like you changed something and didn't quite know what you were doing. To avoid this in the future, look up 'the beginner's guide' on the wiki, or from my tutorials collection(link). If you find that too intimidating, look up the other one on the link,'how to make mods.' 'Ben's oblivion support' has some good fundamentals for those just getting into using mods.

trouble with the '28 days and a bit' mod
theuseless replied to darkcooperman's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
You should first make sure you are running the game with the obse loader. You don't want to load an obse dependent file without running the obse launcher. You can do that manually or by clicking the box in wrye bash. If you don't use wrye bash yet, double click "obse_loader.exe" in your oblivion folder. If that doesn't work, make sure you have everything the mod depends on. Check to make sure that all the files it comes with got copied to the oblivion/data folder. Make sure you have any mods that it relies on. If it says it needs another mod in order to work, get that mod. If none of that makes sense, check out my collection of tutorials: Tutorials Abound! -
Hey, check out my tutorials site (Tutorials Abound!). There is a good one there about how to install and use mods, Ben's Oblivion Support. It should help with the basics of mod usage. If you need more info, try to post a more specific question or procedure. Then we could get a better idea of what you are having problems with. hope this helps, theuseless

Need Help with followers
theuseless replied to GeometricTiger's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
check out my tutorials page (Tutorials Abound!). There are some tutorials there aimed at making it easier to learn the CS. If you need a more descriptive tutorial, please ask and I will post one that is relevant. For the time being, you should learn the basics. It realy isn't that difficult. Hope you find what you were looking for, theuseless -
lol. I completely agree. I did some sword training as a youth (with the SCA). We beat the dog-urine out of each other with rattan sticks. I'm tall and light, the armours I used mainly covered my shoulders, elbows and a little piece as a mantle. I relied on my agility and speed rather than actual sword skill. Believe it or not this was effective for me. While I'm male, so wouldn't wear the chainmail bikini, it could theoretically help a bit, especially if it protects the money makers (referring to sex sells). That said, there were pleanty of people far more skilled than I who would wear the full plate. Both serve their own unique skill set. The knights wearing full plate (females too) had to rely on their impressive skills, defending their weak spots. There were a few that wore almost no armour and had impressive skills. They rarely had problems unless they faced a group of the knights. I like the availablilty of the light armours, they are very useful when making a mod. I don't play a female character so I don't use them on my pc. It does get annoying having to pick through the mountains of skimpy armors for a more covering version, as well as the lack of male supported clothes/armors. Now I'm not saying that I want a male lingreie set, just that some of the cooler looking armors have no male version made. When I request such a version from the author I usually get no response.

Everything I've heard about the DA editor makes me steer clear of the game. I'm currently modding Oblivion and Fallout3. If it is any more difficult to mod Dragon Age, I'm simply not buying it. I will get it when I see it used for $20, then beat it vanilla. If anybody has a tutorial that makes the modding process less painfull, please post it as the game looks fantastic! I've also heard that a lot of the features are hard coded into the game's exe, unmoddable. If so it is a major turn off for me. If there are unique things you can do with it, please let me know as I would be willing to buy if I can do something phenomenal with the game. I'm just only buying games that I can mod right now. Thanks for letting me rant, theuseless

Hey there and welcome! Did you ever find anything "fishy" while investigating ufo's? If you are new to modding or playing mods for oblivion, I would reccomend my tutorials collection. If you don't find a tutorial that suits you there, please request it! Welcome to the friendliest and most helpful of the forums I've found! It sounds like you have the experience built up to contribute to this community immensely. I will look forward to any mods you help participate with (please pm me if it is interesting, I will friend you). There are always ways to help. If you decide to make a mod of your own, I really look forward to playing it. Just remember that no question is stupid and all of us started out small. I too started on the commodore tape drive, lol. My parents were poor and eventually got one of them "lunchbox" macs. I can't remember the model. Then an apple IIgs, then the ibm 486, and so on. If you have any experience with programming (in any language) the transition to modding should be less painful. I was able to pick up intermediate scripting within a few weeks. Looking forward to seeing you around these forums, theuseless

Hey, I don't know if you have it up yet, but I will have time tomarrow to test out your service. It sounds indispensable. Just PM me with what you need tested, what kind of feedback you are looking for.

Concerning Dwarves...
theuseless replied to ForrestEbonwolf's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
that is strange indeed. I assume you have tried to give him a greeting via the quest tab. Maybe if you make your own faction, add faction rank to him, then add dialogue. If the dialogue shows for all "dwarf 2.0.1" factions, it should appear for your character. Just remember that if you make a faction, naming it unique will help work around potential conflicts. If that doesn't work, I would try maybe going more detailed into quest scripting. I'm fairly sure that if you use faction as the limiting variable, the dialogue will get added. Just only add the faction status to the dwarf race. Let me know if you are still having trouble afterwards and I will try to help if I can. -

the new Lego game. I hope they make a non-MMO version though. Not sure how much MMO I can take these days... And yes, it has been rumored they are already making esV.

I would think that since sheogorath is the madgod, you should do something in the lines of madess/intoxication. You could make a mask that when potions are drank, it adds some kind of intoxicating effect. You could even make it so that the mask gave you super powers, but also spawned a randomized enemy that only attacks you, only you can detect. When the enemy is dead, another one spawns. But that's alright because the mask gives you super powers. You can kill anything, hallucination or not. You could also make it a helm that removed the negative effects of alcohol, adding more bonuses. Only one problem, you become waaaaaaay more addicted. No booze, no life. Kinda like felldew, but not so quick to progress. You could make a 'special' set of alchemy equipment that allows you to make new and unique potions/poisons. These could have any range of effect, from summoning bound items to summoning them on your enemies (remove that burly sword or help out some lame companion). It could include a health potion that is equippable as a poison, so you could shoot your companion with a bow to heal them. More twists and reversals of reality. What about a placeable static object of a creature, such as a clanfear. When activated (through messagebox script or greater power), the 'statue' comes alive, your own indestructible golem. You could only do this once or twice a day of course. What about a sword that when equipped made you mad? It could add topics to conversation that elicit strange responses. It could also replace some vanilla dialogue to make you hear things. It could make you hear conversations that aren't there. It could randomly unequip, leaving you with a boquet of flowers afterwards, forcing you to re-equip it (or something else). He is also somewhat spiteful, along with the crazy. What about a sword that gets better every time you are hit by a human? If you aren't hit by a human within an hour or so, it resets to a lower level. So it could have a couple of levels of burly. Once fully activated through hack and slash (and bleeding into it), it could be amazing, only to reset when you sleep or stop fighting. Maybe have it reset every 6 hours to lowest level so its not too abused. How's about a set of armour that randomly assigns its shield level each time you are hit? This could be a leveled effect, so level 5 would set the AC at 0-5 and at level 50 could set it at 10-40. These variables are obviously not realistic, but could serve as an idea. How does a morphing sword sound? You could rip the BSAs from artifacts and armementarium and make the sword change color, adding and removing effects. So if the sword is red it is a bloodthirsty +20 sword, -10 light armour, -10 heavy armour. Then it could turn blue after quenched by however many kills. Blue would give you +200 MP, -10 endurance, -10 speed. Then if you cast a spell at night, it turns red again. Making it hard to control is key. Whatever effect you decide to use (one of mine or somebody else's) I think you need to make it somewhat random or hard to predict. Sheo likes to keep us on our toes. I got pleanty of madness myself, let me know if you want more ideas. I could go on for hours. I've been called crazy more than once (in a serious tone lol). Not stupid, just mad. Too much felldew as a youth. -edit- I like the frying pan idea. Totally mad and also lore friendly! What if it gave you a piece of cheese every time you strike somebody?

the no-cd cracks and other such software are generally flawed. Most are incomplete, have viruses or are re-written in a different way. Stay away from such software. I would reccomend buying the game used via ebay, then get a program called power iso. It will make a burn of the game completely. You can then archive your original disk and play from your copy. I use this method for personal use only and in no way condone digital piracy. People worked hard to make the game function (even as little as it does). Other people had to invest into the project. All parties involved deserve their fair compensation. I'm not sure if you are referring to a pirated copy or not, but if you are you should remove your post quickly (or edit it). In the future, you don't need the no dvd crack. Ive found my oblivion runs faster and longer on my computer when loaded from my hard drive into a virtual drive with power iso. Then you don't have to worry about the illegal stuff messing you up (legally or virulently).

I agree with pronam, though I did play daggerfel. It was awesome. I believe they were about 2 years overdue with releasing Oblivion. It seems as though they put a lot of time into making the CS work, which is cool with me. If you look at fallout 3, it is essentialy the same game. The only non-cosmetic changes in the game were mainly story based. In other words, they had their engine completed and focused on story (which is still somewhat lacking) in fallout3. It looks like they spent so much time refining their engine they simply couldn't finish oblivion. If you look around the game map enough, you will see all kinds of stuff half finished. They announced the game 5 years before they released it, building up all of our hopes. I think that once modded, that Oblivion quickly turns into one of the best games I've ever played. It just took the combined effort of thousands to make it fun. Maybe for the next elder scrolls they will hire on a larger team of quest scripters. They pretty much have everything they need. Just dump OBSE into the engine, up the graphix and then ta-da, they are ready for the likes of the talented folks here. I'm sure that people would be at least willing to help with general feedback or ideas, if not being employed directly.

I would actually suggest you look at the information provided by bben46. He's better at this sort of thing than I am. If you have already done a fresh re-install of oblivion and all the mods you wish to use without the UAC, I'm lost. You should be fine with just the UOP 3.2 mentioned above. It only patches Oblivion, not any of the expansions. I'm not sure why you jumped straight to OMOD converting. Maybe try the manual method. Copy and paste the files into your oblivion/data folder. If none of that helps (try bben46's advice first! Look up his Ben's Oblivion Support) then try to install oblivion somewhere other than the c:/program files folder which is default. The UAC tries its damndedest to protect files in that folder. Instead try installing simply to c:/bethesda/oblivion (leave out the program files directory). I bought the computer I'm on right now about 14 months ago. It came with vista home premium. I hated the performance, the features didn't seem to be worth the drain on my comp so I downgraded to XP. My oblivion runs way faster, with fewer crashes. My computer smokes with XP, lagged with vista. I hate vista with a passion. Well worth the $100 purchase for XP. It is about time for me to get a decent desktop so I can give this poor little laptop a break, and I will most certainly get XP on that as well.

Concerning Dwarves...
theuseless replied to ForrestEbonwolf's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I would suggest checking out a tutorial called "Beginner's Guide" on my collection: Tutorials Abound! You will more than likely be able to skip the first part and go straight to "anatomy of a quest." It will guide you through many processes, including fundamentals of NPC creation, dialogue, quests, and scripting. There is another good one called "working drawbridges" which will help with some of the AI package stuff and teach you how to use a number of other features. The both of them helped me to get a lot further with my knowledge. How did you import the race? -
Concerning Dwarves...
theuseless replied to ForrestEbonwolf's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Specifically which dwarf race did you get? I looked on the nexus and couldn't find a dwarf race version 2.0.1. Please be more specific. I do beleive you need to add the race itself to the CS by creating new. You would then have to import all the animations and sounds, etc. I think it might be easier to merge the mods, use: TES4Gecko Once merged, you can use all the data from the dwarf races mod you're using. You will also have to clean both with TES4edit before merging. all the tutorials I know of for these programs are on my tutorials site: Tutorials Abound! Please post the specific mod you have so I can check it out and maybe be more helpful. You can always try to contact the author for advice. I know there are patches and whatnot for using custom races, you may need something like that as well. If you end up figuring it out and feel like writing a tutorial, please post it on my site. If you get it down through advice from others (more likely than mine) then please let me know how you did it so I can write one (if you don't). Hope this has helped, theuseless -
They are fundamentally different in design. Not just the extended barrel (is that a flash supressor or something). The safety is differently placed, not to mention large. It has a completely different texture assigned as well. The funny looking piece on the bottom looks aftermarket: http://dans-rc-factor.com/samuraiedge/P1010716.JPG Otherwise it appears to be similar to the m92 baretta pictured in 20th century weapons. It might be a little larger/wider than the baretta: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/ima...-1239424838.jpg Sure, the bottom of the cannon is similar in the pic provided by CommanderCrazy. It is in no way the same however. If you think it is easy to do with nifskope, why don't you try helping? I know nothing of nifSkope, or I would help. Cool looking guns though (both of them). I used to own a Kimber Desert Warrior 45 ACP. Great handgun. I miss it badly. Maybe I should try to request that texture. Its just a souped up 1911 version (Kimbers are one of the most accurate stock handguns available). I currently own a Sig p228, one of the most indestructible 9mm's ever made. I decided I needed durability over accuracy as I use it mainly hiking in back country. Do you own the Samurai?

If you have the Shivering Isles expansion, I would reccomend getting the oblivion 1.2.0416 patch. You can then upgrade to the Unofficial SI patch. If you don't just go straight for the Unofficial Official Patch 3.2. Now, I am assuming you have vista as you said you turned off the UAC. I don't have vista, but I wonder if the files are in the correct place. I would try to re-install the mod with the uac off. Just over-write any files. You don't have to delete them for this simple re-install. If that doesn't work, try getting back to us. -edit- Official Oblivion Patch v.1.2.0416 Unofficial Official Oblivion Patch 3.2 If you have any of the expansions, you should look up "unofficial official" on the nexus. It will direct you to the pages for the SI expansion, as well as the Knights of the Nine and everything else that came on that disk. Also is an expansion called Battlehorn Castle that I'm pretty sure you can only get via download from the company site. All these have patches too, but for now the only ones you really need to worry about are the shivering isles (optional. also optional is the UOP for SI) and the UOP (unofficial official patch) 3.2 -edit- Did you by chance update to the patch provided in the Knights of the Nine? If so, a clean install of Oblivion is needed. You should install Oblivion, then Shivering Isles, then the 1.2.0416 patch. If not, just install Oblivion, then the UOP 3.2

Where do i put the mod files?
theuseless replied to Knightdarling's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Everybody has to start somewhere. The thing I like about moddable games is that you play content made by (un)common people. You can customize this game any way you see fit. There are mods that will add weapons, castles, quests and gamplay changes to suit your tastes. There must be a million mods on the nexus by now, between all the games they host. I'm making a castle for oblivion now that will be MY ideal living place, suited to MY tastes. I suggest taking it slow. Install 1 mod at a time, play for a few hours and then go for another. Once you have downloaded and played maybe 100 or so mods, then start to think of what you want to do with yours. Just remember that the mods (and the game) are restricted to human limitations. Don't say, "well I think this major part needs an overhaul" when you get into creating your own content. Once you are familiar with installing simple mods (ones that don't rely on anything other than the download) you can go here: TOQL Don't try to install one of those as your first mod. They are a listing of some of the biggest and best Oblivion Quest mods (who doesn't want more story). The rest is all personal taste. If you have any questions, post here and somebody will get back to you eventually. -edit- I also like to be able to put my game down any time I see fit, whether its to explore a new charicter, get a beer or eat something. If I'm hungry, I want to be able to go get a cheeseburger without my clan griping they couldn't start for the hour and a half it took. I just don't understand the mugs that wait for 18 hrs until they have enough clannies to tackle some quest or other. These setbacks far outweigh the coolness of having all humans as team mates. I tried WOW. Didn't like being tied so closely to a game, no matter how cool it is. If I could download the quests and complete them solitaire, I would buy the game. In a heartbeat. No matter how independent your clan is, you are always reliant to a fairly major extent. -
Aliens are going to rain down from the heavens! Beware simple mortals! Lol. I saw a cool crop circle video here: I however don't believe in any of the fear mongering. People getting all scared has happened over and over throughout human history. At the turn of the first millenium (year 999) people believed god's time to judge was here. Nobles gave away vast estates and wealth, only to be left feeling like complete idiots afterwards. If an event of that magintude does happen, I don't think any simple human could predict whether or when. I don't think that the aliens have a plan for when they're going to reveal themselves. I do think there is a strong likelyhood they are here. Which brings me to another point, I call K-pax. Remember that movie? It brought up a question that didn't directly get asked in the movie: "If extraterrestrial life were to visit Earth, would humans even have the sensory organs to detect or interact with such a being?" I mean realy, come on now. I do believe they are here and are tangible beings, made out of commonly visable matter. I don't believe they have any interest in us other than observation. That's just me. I grew up in an area of the world where strange stuff happens in the woods. Undescribable stuff. I grew up on Mt. Shasta, CA, USA. There are more cults (including one of Lemurians) than you could shake a stick at. Most of which are related to the lenticular clouds, pictured. Also in far northern California are Montgomery Woods, in Mendocino County. That place has some very strange stuff, the place where "Fire in the Sky" took place. In all reality it is a creepy place with strange lights. What I'm getting at is that people want to believe the popular stories. I want to believe in aliens because it was accepted where I was raised. I don't however stake enough in that belief to think they would have announced when they would show, some crazy hundreds of years ago.

Where do i put the mod files?
theuseless replied to Knightdarling's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Hey, check out my collection of tutorials, here: http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=174729&hl= It has a few aimed at noobs. One of them should help you get going. -
Thanks! Kudos
-
first a couple of questions: 1: have you made sure your computer can handle the game? 2: What mods specifically have you downloaded? 3: what load order are they listed? If all this makes no sense, I would suggest looking at my tutorials page. It has a few tutorials aimed at noobs, just check the first category. Tutorials Abound! If none of that works, I would think you might have a pirated copy in which case you should buy the game. I've heard nothing but bad things about the downloads (other than STEAM, which is legal).
