It will be like meeting strangers in a bar, except that these strangers "know" each other (from this forum), and can share vibes easier, but there will still be a slight hesitation (which you won't see here). We come here to get away from our daily lives, but if we meet, our daily life follows us. Maybe, best way is to meet and see what happens. Gamers do it all the time!

In the real world, if we meet, our perceptions will be enforced by first impressions when we see each other. Then that age, nationality, language/accent, gender, etc. starts making a difference. We can't "mask" ourselves easily, because our body language gives us away. Mind you, we can still try to become good friends, but it will not be the easy camaraderie we see here.

We are good friends (some of us are best friends) here because this is a virtual place, where our age, religion, nationality, and even gender hardly makes any different. Anyone could be anybody here. We put on a "mask" to be the best person we can be, within the limits of our default personality traits.
