  1. I know you like to work with your own scripts, but Kendo2's Gunman mod seems interesting, especially with the gun holster. Not sure, if you can use any ideas or stuff from there.
  2. You might want to contact Eisen Japan, to see if you can use his amazing Starfleet mod resources. The shuttle at least can be easily made to look a UNSC dropship or scoutship.
  3. Yeah, Lord Rugdumph would make a super Emperor! He would greet visiting dignitaries with: "I am Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak, how may i persist you?" In a diplomatic meeting, he would say: "Lets us conversate on the matter." He would urge the guests on a tour of the Imperial City with: "The trolls have been known to vacate these premesis, I am most gracious and truly woeful." And if you help him with his Imperial quest(!), he may reward you with: "You found my belaboured pig! We is most pleased... eth... ified. I will tell Burz gro-Khash about your indentures! Here, take this. It has been passed down in my family for many generators." However, he might very well task you with a disturbing quest, such as: "Hither to me, good varlet. I am resident to encounter the minotaur. Its horny protuberants cause me great conflagrations. Horrible creatures! Replete with horror and evil. They roam freely eastward of the City. I look forward to you exterminizing them. Go to, bold fighterperson. Precedeth most urgentlike. Anon us most soon again, for sooth.":teehee::laugh::teehee::laugh::teehee::laugh::teehee:
  4. The only reason I think I need to get SI, is that many good mods leverage the SI resources and won't function without SI installed.
  5. @bben46: Thanks for the link to CYRI, it is very useful and fairly accurate. @mathclub3: If your laptop/PC can play Oblivion, go ahead and buy it (or wait till year end to buy a new machine for Skyrim :teehee:). There is one major reason for playing games on PC......... MODS! All the PC games I have are extremely customizable and many of them are modded to superb levels. Replayability is very high with PC games, and if you get bored of a game, just give the game DVD to a friend or nephew. The Console vs. PC debate has been raging from years. As of now, PS3 is ruling the market, and XBOX 360 is literally crawling to keep pace (MS is losing their market fast). People are leaning towards casual gaming like the iconic iPad/iTouch, other touch tablets (Streak, Galaxy Tab) and Nintendo. Android is already the fastest growing operating systems, and there are lots of good casual games for it already. Gaming on portable devices is the hottest trend - Sony is launching the PSP Next Generation Portable (NGP) this year. But, it is sad to see that most game manufacturers are ignoring the PC, despite its popularity. Many of the latest games for PCs over the past few years, are just terrible (and delayed) ports from the consoles. World's largest number of players are on PC, then why are they being ignored? Is it because there is rampant piracy? Are the developers need not keep pace with the changing PC technology? Uncharted game proved that the PS3's hardware was not being completely exploited by earlier games. This shows that even on consoles, game devs are just playing it safe. Considering the advances in PC technology, the PC gaming industry looks promising, provided the major game manufacturers learn from their mistakes and give us what we demand. Until then, we keep playing Oblivion.
  6. This looks spectacular! It is like a big snake with limbs, and it is not ginormous, it is lean like a dino-raptor. Also, it switches nicely between biped and quadruped behavior. I think you guys are going in the right direction. I would request you to ensure it can attack with biting as well as clawing, and maybe even a tail whip, if possible. If you want to make it look more snakeish, you can add a hood, like a King Cobra, and a stinger bard on the tail. Good luck guys!
  7. There was an expansion for Morrowind called "Viking Village" or something like that. It was a snowy island, where the player could play as a werewolf and own a few things there - it was around 20+ hours of game-play. You can probably pick some ideas from there. If you are choosing a ferry as an entry point, maybe it can be from Leyawiin. Anvil harbor is too much modded, so we don't want avoidable conflicts. Since it is a new island, you can also situate it across the Topal Bay, since very few mods add anything there. Some town names I can suggest are: "Ascendia", "Crescent Island", "Havenshire", "Dragon's Roost", "Ravencrest", "Coral Isles", "Aspendale", "Thandor", "Farrain", "Maple Brook", "Angel Falls", "Karma Keep", "Sulindal Springs", "Windfall Bay", "Hallardrin's Deep", "Meadow Lakes", "Thistleville", "Carrasville", "Neverwinter Isle", "Lidelas", "Fultondale", "Superbia Bay", "Rockfort Garrison", "Celesthem", "Corin's Pass", "Xaranth", "Navarone", "Drake Isle", "Aeroch Nor", "Mallondil by the Sea", "Crow's Point", "Polidan's Gap", "Eagle Ridge", "Shadowspar Hills".
  8. LOL, yeah, agreed! But, sometimes a B-grade movie can become a classic! The Night of the Living Dead (NOTLD) was initially panned by many critics as "unrelieved orgy of sadism", "junk movie", "spare, uncluttered, but really silly". But it and its sequels/clones have earned hundreds of millions of dollars for their producers over the decades, and these movies are some of the most popular DVD horror-movie rentals even now!! In fact, NOTLD ushered in the splatter film sub-genre. It redefined the concept of "zombies" in mainstream media; the film introduced the theme of zombies as reanimated, flesh-eating cannibals. And guess what are the kind of undead zombies you meet daily in Oblivion dungeons? That's right, they're straight ripoffs from a b-grade movie (which itself is like a ripoff)! Famous slasher films such as John Carpenter's Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street "owe much to the original Night of the Living Dead". Sometimes all it takes for a silly b-grade concept to become popular is the right kind of marketing and a touch of insanity. ;D
  9. Updated Spartan Project resources (including MJOLNIR Mark VI and Mark VII armor, Elite/Brute armor, and Ghost vehicle) were later put up by Brandon98. They are working perfectly - I tried them recently. The Halo Spartan Guards adds the Halo armor to Oblivion guards - haven't tried it yet as I didn't want to risk jinxing the game too much. It is good that the Halo concept is being picked up. Off the top of my head, here are a few thoughts. Grunts are needed. Easy kills, but in a pack they should be able to heavily damage a solo player.Elites and Brutes should be able to use Rally and Chameleon spells. Brutes and Elites usually don't mix (Elites are Covenant Separatists as they were superseded by Brutes in Halo3).Covenant attacks on Spartan players can be similar to the sudden attacks on player, in the Stealth Wars mod.Ghost vehicle doesn't skim over water, it swims. It may need to be modified to use Imp Walk.Mark VII armor is only in white, so retexes are needed if that is going to be standard armor. Mark VI is in many colors already, so forming default squads should be easy using that armor.Maddog's Fantasy mod has the Ghost/Banshee, and it may also be useful for guns/swords and other resources. I also remember that the GunMage mod had Guns that worked like spell-casters using bow-arrow anim. The Halo energy shield and energy sword in Morrowind is better than the version for Oblivion by Brandon98's team. Haven't seen Genzel's variants, hope it doesn't need much of changes.I am very much new to modding, and currently changing to a new job in real life, so I can't say I can dedicate myself to the project, but I can probably contribute with retexes and documentation. Thank you for taking up this initiative!
  10. Bumping this thread.. Hope that is okay by the moderators. Can someone please try to make a Rideable Griffon (Gryphon) mount? It would ideally be better to make it based on the Akatosh Mount, as it is quite stable and flyable. I have seen some ripped mounts on some Russian websites with some fabulous beasts, so I know a Griffon should be doable, and I also realise how hard it will be. I am hoping (after a lot of efforts) for something like this magnificent beast.. If rideable mount is not possible, then maybe at least a Griffon statue, similar to the Eagle statues commonly seen in many mods.. If some 3d models are needed, perhaps these can be used to start off? I am very new to modding, but I can try to help as much as I can. I am comfortable in CS, and just started with NifScope and Blender. I can also help with the texturing. I am presently messing around with the horse skeleton trying to understand how to create my own rideable creatures. Any suggestions or support would be appreciated.
  11. If you intend to build a custom Akaviri island, then Keilenai's and Lady Li's resources are excellent. You should also try the Torii, tatami flooring, arms cabinet, bamboo sliding door and other awesome resources by Auryga in the Aurygas Akavir Fuyohin Island. Make sure you PM these authors and ask for permission before using their resources, unless they have already released these mods as modder's resources.
  12. Keychain is known to be incompatible with certain mods. Though it is a great little concept, it doesn't make sense to add one more esp to your load order, just to manage all your key clutter. I suggest instead: Automagicka Bags, which can automatically sort out common stuff such as keys, ingredients, alchemical items, etc into their own bags, and also provides lots of other infinite-inventory bags to stock any type of weapons/armors/gems/items you want to store. If you want simplicity, you may want to try Bag of Holding or DS Sacks, though I prefer Automagicka Bags as it serves many purposes and does them well. Do more with less! Unofficial Patches are a must, after a clean install, before trying out any new mods. If you don't install UOP, then you need Custom Race Fix, Boethia's Shrine Fix, Vampire Aging fixes. DarnifiedUI (or BT Mod) is absolutely critical for even using the game on a PC. Vanilla UI sucks on a PC - I prefer DarnifiedUI. Display Stats mod will show hidden stats about any items in your inventory - now you never have to worry about missing critical info about a weapon you intend to enchant or sell. Works with DarnifiedUI, DarkUId DarN, BTmod and vanilla UI interfaces. Realistic Leveling or Oblivion XP can help with the crummy leveling feature in the vanilla game. Quest Award Leveller makes quest rewards to be scaled to your current player level. Teleport Everywhere is essential to avoid getting frustrated with default fast travel limitations (now you can fast-travel anywhere even if you are in the depths of a dungeon or a building interior!). Map Marker Overhaul and Elven Map Redux are highly recommended for better and immersive world-map experience. CM Partners and CSR (TalkieToaster's Companion Share and Recruit) are also essential if you want companion partners to aid in your adventures. Skill Specialization provides trees of abilities customized to your chosen class - makes different styles of role-playing much more enjoyable and unique. Ring of Companionship will keep your partners happily working together rather than bickering and killing at the slightest accidental swipes. Cover Yourself will ensure there will be consequences if you roam the cities and villages clad in your undergarments (or lack thereof). Script Effect Subduer removes the audible-visual script effects and improves its performance in projectile form - no more burning swords strapped to the hip! ChaseCamera and FlyingCamera mods are needed to resolve jerky 3rd person camera views and to enable better screenshooting and panoramic character views. Bullet Camera is also useful for those enjoying those long-distance sniper kills. PlayerSayStuff makes the player character to make funny and/or emotional comments during quests, combat, etc. Add hugely to the immersiveness. No more mute PC! You might argue it is not practical, but considering that you enemies can taunt you, don't you want to taunt them back? Denock Arrows to cancel an arrow shot, Cancel Attack to cancel a combat move, and Fast Arrows Collection to auto-retrieve fallen arrows nearby (won't fetch arrows fallen into the far distance, so the game remains immersive and you still get back most of your arrows). Eagle Eye Realistic Archery makes the vanilla archery much more effective and enjoyable. These concepts should have been built into the game by Bethesda! Misc Tracker tracks your fame/infamy/bounty and gives handy messages about their status changes. It is extremely essential if you play as a thief/assassin, or even otherwise (for instance, I like these messages: "Your crime has been reported and your infamy has increased by 1", "No one dared report your crime"). :ninja: Spell Deletion lets you rename/delete spells. Disenchant Items lets you remove any invalid weapon/armor enchantments (you lose the soulgem though, if I recall correctly). Enchanting Freedom Plus lets you add missing enchantments such as Paralyze, Reflect Damage, Reflect Spells. RefScope to query in-game on any objects and NPCs for all reference-ID stats, NPC inventory, factions, spells, AI-Packages, etc. Also tells you whether containers are safe for storage. One of the most underrated and unrecognized mods in TESNexus. I think I have voted it for File of the Month. Conscribe is an exhaustive logging mechanism that greatly helps in debugging the game and posting the crash reports. MenuQue is like a scripting library/plugin that's needed by a few OBSE-based mods. Menu Escape and A Takes All are truly essential to easily tackle through all the in-game menus with the keyboard. Use the mouse always to click through popup menus is a royal pain. Barter Gold is useful for resolving some of the bartering limitations. Mark and Recall or Portals mods can be useful for quickly marking a quest/custom-abode spot and returning to it later. Map Marker Overhaul lets you add custom map markers and integrates well with DarnUI etc. Imperial Furniture Renovated helps improve the gameplay by introducing movable candles, weapon racks, chests, carpets, tapestry, beds and lots more. Decorator Assistant is essential for fine-grained pickup and placement of objects. Finally, TES4 can give Sim3 a run for its money!
  13. Yeah, Akaviri Kojima is an awesome mod. It was on TESNexus but not available now. Keilenai is the famous modder and I think she was contributing to the Silgrad Tower mod project - at least I am sure they were using some of her superb Akaviri work (with her permission). ** Moderators can edit/delete the following line if the link/info is not suitable to be posted here. I found the latest beta version 7.5 of Akaviri Kojima is here. Click the Telecharger link at bottom, to download it. Screenshots are here. However, many of those Akaviri ideas and concepts are beautifully rendered in the mods by Lady Li. I heartily recommend: Akaviri Stronghold and Marketcity Addon. It adds a cute little island fortress near the Anvil harbor, with lots of NPCs and interesting secrets. There is another re-uploaded version here, though I haven't tried it yet.
  14. If you are still struggling with combat due to your character class or birthsign, you can offset it by recruiting some companions. Take a look at CM Partners and CSR, which can help to get battle-hardened companions/NPCs as partner recruits. Since you installled Francesco's, I am assuming you know how to install/use mods. Still, if you need further help, take a look on UESP and the TESNexus Wiki. If you don't want to use mods, you can still get some backup. When you start completing the Fighters' Guild and Mages Guild quests, you can later get some assistance from the guild members, for completing those tough dungeons and quests.
  15. Falling mushrooms are cute, but not scary. I would like to see a Giant Harrada Root towering over Imperial City. Like a many tentacled giant of monster proportions and hideous visage. Like an evil version of the Great Tree from the Avatar movie. It would grab screaming citizens right over the city walls and as its feeds on their soft flesh, it would spawn more evil children - smaller Harrada plants and roots that would break right through the city floors and even the homes, and hang over like blood vines climbing over and around the city walls, literally breaking the city apart like an evil earthquake. Even if you use your enchanted blade to cut few vines, lots of other spiny Harrada roots reappear immediately and reach out straight for your naked throat as you flail wildly while you are grabbed and torn apart limb to limb by spiny tentacles! The giant Harrada queen (mother root/tree) would destroy you even if you tried to attack it with hundreds of Dwemer skyships, and the hapless crew-members of those ships would be gobbled into the cavernous jaw of the queen, or fall to their screaming doom to become bloody broken bodies that litter across their own city! Only some tough Midas Magic spells (maybe something even nastier than a nuclear blast) would be needed to destroy the evil Harrada queen. But you would still have a dicey problem killing those spiny tiny harrada plants and roots now infesting the entire city, as you have to make sure that even if you gas it with noxious fumes, you shouldn't harm the innocent civilians. What can be more frightening than seeing a Harrada root growing right through your cosy bed, as you wake up to horrid screams and crumbling walls, and shriek in terror as a long spiny tentacle grabs your leg and pulls you into a dark nether crater, straight into molten lava pits of Oblivion. Scaly, slimy, furry creatures with sharp claws, foul breath, ravenous teeth, misshapen bodies and terrifying glowering eyes crawl and scurry out of the newly opened nether pits and oblivion gates *within* every city, like evil termites flooding out from your own home's basement, woodwork and walls, and they go on a rabid frenzy of bloody mayhem and hate killing. Mehrunes Dagon watches all this utter anarchy unfolding on his magic crystal ball, and his evil laughter reverberates through the nether pits right into your very bones, until you can barely stand and shiver in mortal fear. It is not death you must fear, it is the neverending afterlife in the pits of hell, especially if hell erupts right beneath your own feet. Now *that* is what I call an Oblivion invasion!
  16. LOL. Maybe the guards don't like their work (protection) to be outsourced to the Fighter's Guild. Since you are the last one remaining in the FG, I think you are next on the hit-list. I would sleep with a drawn sword, if I were you. :teehee: On a serious note though, it sounds like a random glitch (or unforeseen interactions) in the AI mechanics. Somehow, one of the fighters ended up killing an innocent (maybe the arrows were meant for your head :whistling:), the townspeople raised the alarm and the guards killed the murderer (and all his supporters). Do you have Reneer's Guard Overhaul or any other mod that affects Guards or Guild Fighters? Disable any suspected mods, reload your savegame before the incident happened, and see if it occurs again. These are some of the random events that make this game a whole lotta fun! No one ever said that being a Guild Master was gonna be easy peasy!
  17. Umm.. prison guards still body-search you even if you are nude. They say you don't need a pocket or a bag to hide small items. :woot: A skooma bottle, on the other hand, might be difficult to conceal, unless you dunked into it.
  18. Yup, I personally like Imperial Furniture Renovated, and it is a good thing you reminded me of it, since I haven't used it recently. Hmmm.. too many mods on my load-list!
  19. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. :teehee:
  20. There is one special reason for the success, regularity and quality of the mods which have enhanced a vanilla game (which was very good in its own right) into something exceptional (and memorable). The secret is this site, and its moderators, whose indefatigable perseverance and selfless dedication have ensured a thriving modding community (where even newbies can showcase their rough mods to a worldwide audience) that continues to prosper years after the games and DLCs were launched. Just giving kudos and virtual hugs is not sufficient; some of the guys here have truly become legends in the modding world. Partner/Friendly sites like UESP Wiki, PlanetElderScrolls and BethSoft forums (and many more, some of which are sadly defunct) have contributed to the lore and gaming meta-info that enables modders and users to understand the game's flaws and possibilities, and leverage the modding features better. Even Bethesda and the game devs regularly take note of exceptional mods, unique ideas introduced by modders and flaws discovered/fixed by modders. Now you know why TES and Fallout series are so good. It is these hardworking people behind them, that make it magical and fun! Thank you all from me too.
  21. Why would you want to make an unsafe container into a safe container? If you want some permanently safe containers, download and install some portable inventory addons such as Bag of Holding, Automagicka Bags (my favorite) or DS Portable Sacks. These will add bags to your inventory, which can contain infinite items without tipping the encumberance. Remember, containers are specific to the interior/exterior cells where they are placed/found. When a cell reset has been triggered, the contents of all traditional containers in that cell will be reset to the items assigned to it. Such containers are unsafe as their contents will be lost after some time has elapsed. If you really want to make some unsafe container as safe (unrespawnable), then open up Oblivion.esm or that mod's esm/esp in Construction Set and after searching for the specific Container (look it up within Containers node under World Objects in the Object Window), double-click it and uncheck its Respawn flag. Or better still, add a copy of the same or another safe container (such as a Clams or Torn Sacks of Grain) to that cell. Please note that all the player-owned houses (except the Anvil one) have safe containers. You can use the excellent RefScope mod to quickly identify if a container is safe (green) or unsafe (red). It is also useful for NPC and object stats, and for debugging mod conflicts. Even if you don't want to use a new mod, you can still find out if a container is unsafe. Find the ContainerID by popping up the console (using tilde ~ key), and clicking on the container (its name and ID will be shown at top of the screen). Then add some random items such as 25 lockpicks using the command: ContainerID.AddItem 0A 25, where ContainerID is the ID you noted, 0A is the ObjectID for Lockpicks, and 25 is the count of the objects to be added to the container. Then walk away or wait for few days (maybe even a week) and see if the container loses the lockpicks you added. If so, it is unsafe. Hope all this info helps any newcomers who are unsure about storage containers.
  22. Ring of Companionship is perfect to make your companions (or any NPCs to whose inventory you can add items) peacefully work with one another. You can also set the IFH (Ignore Friendly Hits) flag manually using the console: 1. Pop up the console using the tilde (~) key 2. Click on the aggressive NPC (called as "actor" in game parlance), whom you want to pacify 3. His/her/its name will be shown at the top of the screen with an identifier (formid) number 4. Type these commands into console (explanatory comments are after the semicolons): gifh ;GetIgnoreFriendlyHits - See if an actor is ignoring friendly hits sifh 1 ;SetIgnoreFriendlyHits - Set whether actor must ignore friendly hits (0-no, 1-yes) SameFactionAsPC ;Returns 1 if the calling actor is in faction that the player also belongs to GetFactionRank ;Get the faction (group) to which the selected actor belongs SetFactionRank 0001DBCD 0 ;this is faction for player and close friends (0=lowest rank,9=highest, -1=remove from faction) 5. NPC will become part of your faction (if not already so), and will always ignore hits from friendlies 6. Press the ~ key to close the console 7. This is a permanent change, so make sure you back up to manual savegames before and after this quick hack. It will remain in effect, even if you quit and later restart the game. 8. You can use the excellent Refscope mod to find out exact NPC stats before trying any workarounds/hacks with their stats.
  23. Alternative start is great, but I prefer: Quickstart with Loot. With the QuickStart mod, when starting a new game, you can skip directly to the end of the tutorial dungeon. Fastest and cleanest way to start with a new character. This mod may not work if you have Bigger arena spectator fights mod. So, make sure you make a savegame at the sewer exit and backup your saves before trying Quickstart or Alternate Start.
  24. My first quest was the Bloated Float Inn quest in the IC Waterfront. When I first saw Imperial City after coming out of the sewers I was spell-bound by its immensity. I immediately decided to make complete circumambulation of the entire city to see just how big it was. Turned out, it was also a nice way to train my athletics and acrobatics. Anyway, I ended up at the IC Waterfront and saw this big ship moored there. I scouted around inside, talked to the guys including the bartender, and found a place to sleep. When I woke up, bang! Ship is hijacked! And I got into some feisty fights with the Blackwater Brigands.:pirate: I got some weapons with the first fellow I killed, but I think I didn't kill the boss lady at the end. She surrendered after my fluke answers and gave up her sword. Their leather armor was sweet! And that bartender gave me some big chunk of gold. I later sold the fancy sword too. ;) Fun way to start a great game, eh?! EDIT: Next time I tried the same quest with another character, I didn't finish it properly, and had to kill the lady.
