AMD FX-9590 spotted 8 core 5.0ghz cpu
Phalanx108 replied to Thor.'s topic in Hardware and software discussion
I see how you're thinking. Kinda does make sense when you consider it. That last line there though. It'll take a lot for Intel to have a grim future, as when you consider that a lot of the gaming PC market sits with them through sheer loyalty. My mistake: dumping cash on a new Haswell. The performance increase is negligible compared to my old 3770K, and the price was just a stupid amount to pay for just a CPU/Mobo. Though I will admit, it's a truly amazing quality mobo. How will owning the console market help them with PC's? Also, APU's have never been good enough to pay as much as they charge. -
AMD FX-9590 spotted 8 core 5.0ghz cpu

It isn't. Your 8350 runs at 125w, the 9590 is 95w higher. That might not sound like much, but it's enough. Also, the reason you don't know the turbo speed is because 5GHz IS the turbo speed. Actual clock is 4.7GHz. To quote the article: "So we're basically looking at a 76% increase in TDP relative to the FX-8350 to get a 19% increase in maximum clock speed" Adding into that the immense power draw for just a CPU, and the higher temperature that will almost demand a watercooler just to keep it in line, doesn't look like the 9590 is gonna be worth it. However: I'd definitely like to see what it kicks into motion in the grand scheme of things. Wonder what Intel will come up with to get back on top of the ego war. -
1150 is a nice socket, but I'd wait until they've been out a little bit before going to buy one. Prices are always more expensive as soon as they come out. As for the SSD, consider another one. The Neutron GTX is a nice choice. 770 is also a great card for the price. Easily rivals a 680 with a nice OC on it.

Sure, most buildings and things were destructible in BC2, but you then have to realise that it was the same 3 buildings copied and pasted everywhere, on every map.

Might want to adjust your tinfoil hat man, I can see your forehead showing :P

Eh, nothing against Battlefront but personally I'm more hyped up for Mirrors Edge 2. My body was ready long ago, now it is time again.

EA doesn't make games.

Odd sound/video stuttering
Phalanx108 replied to Vagrant0's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Initial suggestion would be a driver fault. Use driver sweeper to clear out your audio drivers and then reinstall. If the problem persists, try a new sound card (even a cheapo one would do). -
Can't just blame the word "kitchen". As it always seems to be one word, perhaps just the term "solidwoodkitchen" should be banned.

Is this a good gaming pc build?
Phalanx108 replied to SidneyCrosby's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Actually, the 680 can't really read the difference between 2GB and 4GB because of the narrow bus. 2GB will be fine. -
"Future Proof"... Now there's a term I know very well, and hate to hear moreso. There is always a way to refute "future proofing". In the case of VRAM, having 2 billion terabytes of it might look shiny, but if the GPU can't keep up with the processing requirements, and the game can't support using most of it (as is the case in terms of console ports), it's all moot.

6GB is nice an all, but there is almost absolutely nothing that uses anywhere CLOSE to even 3/4's of it. Shame, really. I did quite want to see how I could bog down the Titan but so far I can't :<

If the previous gen APU's were anything to go off, it'll be overpriced and terrible. However, due to the cool concept, I'm willing to hold my word until I get a chance to try these out.

This shall sum up the timeless debate of Nvidia v AMD

Yeah, I'll pass on that. Singular with fan cooling it may be fine, but cram them together and they just heat each other up. The fan design wasn't really the best idea, as the lower card's heat just gets sucked straight in. In general, it's just easier to watercool an SLI/CF build, I've found. I got it on the cheap through my work, so I don't consider myself "worthy" either. Just lucky. This holds true in a lot of cases, but (at least for me) I can't look past an Intel CPU. I've been floating around GPU brands for a long time now. -
I don't like Apple or their products, but ill be damned if they don't have some stellar quality behind their laptops. If it was easy and/or cheap and practical, I'd get one just for my work purposes. However, while I have cash, I'd rather spend it on buying out the Australian Government than a single laptop.

If the drive is toast, then that severely limits your options. However, if it's the PC itself that's dead, and the drive is fine then you can just simply take it out and plug it straight into your new box. Job done.

Right, I've pulled together some information about the 660Ti vs the 7950 for you, but it's not exactly clear which one is "better" The 660Ti uses 50w less power than the 7950, so if your PSU is smaller then it will be better. However, the 7950 has a higher memory bandwidth, so it will theoretically be faster, however there's other factors that need to be taken into account more so than just memory bandwidth. The 660 has higher core speeds out of the box, core @ 915 MHz, and memory @ 1500 MHz, however that is through the 192-bit bus. The 7950 has a lower core speed, core @ 915 MHz, with memory @ 1250 MHz out of the box, through a bigger bus. The 7950 will be better at higher resolutions due to it's higher pixel rate, but at lower resolutions that won't make a lot of difference. So if you are spreading your games over multiple monitors the 7950 will suit you better, but if you've just got one screen with a game on it then the 660Ti will suit you fine. There's no concrete winner from the two cards I'd say, so it's your call  EDIT: Forgot to mention that the 660 has a higher OpenGL version, not that that matters a whole lot. 4.3 vs 4.2 on the 7950.

The MacBook Pro is pretty intense if you get OSX off it. But yeah, paying too much for the same power is the base of the argument.

Running a Titan at the moment. It's not gone above 62C while benchmarking... -
To risk crossing a line, I'm just waiting for the day when someone targets the Westborough Baptist Church themselves. Surely they have to be getting on someone's radar by now.

Can't say I endorse this, but it's your money. On the whole, avoid Alienware though. Nothing but a crappy overpriced Dell unit, most of them don't even run well, and they have worse customer support than an ISP.

Solo platinum reapers in Mass Effect 3. Only had to use medigel 3 times, each of which being an objective wave.
