  1. From the list, I suggest the FX6300 + 8GB setup. However, swap out the Win 8 for Win 7 x64. 7 is still leagues ahead of 8 for desktop usage.

  3. Currently, Origin is offering 50% off on it. So if you want it, now's the time.
  4. Go ahead and contact them. In the mean time, keep a close eye on your card. Monitor voltages and temperatures, and if they start to change drastically for no reason, shut it down. On the whole, though, it's quite likely nothing adverse will come of it. Just don't start slamming some super benchmarks with massive overclocks on it or anything :P
  5. Hmm... Never experienced anything that bad on a GPU before. I did use to have a similar sound issue with a work PC that had to do with the power supply dying, but coming from a GPU? Never heard it that bad on the graphics card... Might be a good idea to contact support yet again I'd say, not much else you can do, and the additional hassle is a lot better than risking a fried card taking other components with it on it's way out.

  7. To add to that: Nvidia cards with the Kepler GPU take a goddamn DIVE when using TXAA. Avoid unless running 2+ 680's, a 690, or a Titan.
  8. Concept ≠ same engine. If the core is different, the engine is different. :\
  9. My old build, comprising of an i5 3570k and a GTX680 2GB strained it on maximum settings. Tip to increase performance: Have texture settings on medium, and drop water quality down some. Everything else, toggle until you get optimal performance, but Water and Texture are the biggest drains.
  10. But Cryengine 3 and Cryengine 2 (as used in Crysis 1) are 2 completely different core engines. It's like saying the Refractor 2 engine and Frostbite 2 are the same...
  11. Granted, but you can only use them for one picosecond every year. I wish for a nice, delicious bowl of fried potato chips.
  12. Cryengine 3 hasn't been out for 7 years...
  13. All of these options will suit you better.

  17. Easy. Create a new account, then contact support and say you're the owner of the actual account. Explain what's happened, then they'll ask for some verification. This will likely include a couple of game serials, and the birth date you put in when you made the origin account. Then, they'll likely revert the email back to yours and you can reset your password from there.
  18. The whole "ermagerd origin is eeevil" is really just a bad case of hyperbole. It really, really isn't as bad as the whole online community makes it out to be.
  19. DO NOT DOWNLOAD YET. There is a bug that wipes all your badass ranks in there. Be careful if you do.
  20. Turns out it was a router issue, had to get a new one and all is good now.
  21. Alright, here's the situation. I have a solid connection to my router, of that I am certain because i can access the web based GUI for it, however I cannot load a single webpage most of the time. All browser based activites short of the router GUI will not load, at all. It's only webpages, but not only that browser. I have tried Firefox, IE, Safari and Chrome, none of which load. But when i say that it's only webpages, I can play online and use Teamspeak with 0 performance loss. I have tried many things in troubleshooting, including the simple "turn it off and on again", switching ethernet ports on both the router and my PC, checking i have solid DSL and that it's not my ISP's end, factory resetting my router/modem, you name it, i've tried it. Side note: This is the only computer on the network that has the issue. From this one i can ping to localhost and other computers in the network just fine, however attempting to ping this computer from others will not work. This led me to think it was a firewall issue, yet even after disabling both antivirus firewall and restarting it still hasnt changed anything. I have performed full virus/malware scans too, clean. Also, I get a connection for about 10-20 minutes if i restart the router, however it always returns to its current state. This makes it seem like a router issue, but it was working just fine up until recently, plus it's fairly new. Any ideas?
  22. You've sold me. Thanks.
  23. Been sitting on the fence about this one. Be sure to tell us how it turns out.
