  1. Just need a small bit of advice here from folks for a modification I'm trying to make.

Does anyone have any idea what material the game's shiny blue upper class clutter (labeled as "Glazed" clutter in the CK) should be smelted into?

The best I could do was making it smeltable into Malachite... it seemed like a good idea, but now it's sort of starting to seem unbalanced/overkill. However, I don't have a better idea for it.

  2. Does anyone know if there are ANY retextures/replacers out there for the "Dawnguard" faction armor? I've searched and searched and only managed to find one, but it was not very good, as it did not really improve over the quality of the original textures. I cannot find one that improves the texture quality.

  3. Is it true that if you drink a potion to temporarily become a ghost, or use the "Become Ethereal" shout, the Headless Horseman has some special dialogue or a small quest? I've heard this rumour several times, but no one's ever produced any evidence that it's true, so... I'm not inclined to believe it.

  4. I can't properly edit female NPC's because custom tint masks, like eye line and lips, are not resized properly and are all messed up in CK. Has anyone encountered this problem? Does anyone know a workaround?

  5. I tried to make a retextured candlestick, using a static candlestick mesh with candles. I used NifSkope to remove the candles, however, in the CK and in game, the mesh will not work, and shows up as nothing but a red error marker... what am I doing wrong here?

  6. Alessia's "heirs" are actually symbolic successors, not biological descendants of her. Tiber Septim and the Septims that came after him had no blood relation to her, or any of the Emperors that came before....

  7. When I mod Skyrim, I most often find myself using SkyEdit. From my experience, it's faster, FAR less crashy and buggy, and overall easier to use than the Creation Kit.

How do others like to go about their modding? Has anyone had better luck with the CK, or replacement programs like SkyEdit?

  8. So... why can't you be the Emperor/Empress? They're supposed to be Dragonborn. So rightfully, you should be, by Divine Right, since Akatosh gave the Dragonborn their powers and proclaimed that only Dragonborn should rule...

  9. I use a mod for centered third person camera. Not sure why Betheseda went over the shoulder camera. in third person. The only time I go in first person is when using the bow. I get motion sickness in first person if I am in it for a time..

Holy I've been looking for a mod like that! Pretty please could your provide the link where you got it from? xx

  10. Already have the unofficial patch.. didn't help, sadly. The Greybeards stand around in a circle to "greet" me, but the greeting doesn't play.

    Sigh.

  11. I was enjoying this game despite all of the glitches I was getting hit with... until the main quest bugged out on me, the Greybeards are stuck so now I can't finish the "Jurgen Windcaller" quest... this sucks. Fail, fail, fail. My game is fail.

I miss the days when games didn't have ants in their pants.

  12. So I've reinstalled Oblivion after my old hard drive went boom, and I've been trying to track down all my old mods.

I've been mostly successful, but I'm very saddened to find that a bunch of mods that I downloaded from here before have since disappeared from Nexus. Most of them were lesser known ones, but one in particular I was surprised about was the Akatosh Mounts mod - why is that mod not here anymore? That was a very very popular one, and I recall it being a "File of the Month" before. Luckily I was able to find it elsewhere so I could load my old saves, but still, that's weird...

Hopefully I'll get the data from my old hard drive back soon, so I can get the remainder of my mods back...

  13. So, I'm stuck in "The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller" quest, because I received the "Dah" shout from the Greybeards, and I'm at the part where they're supposed to "greet" me, however, they keep standing around in a circle and the greeting will not play.

I tried going and completing some other quests first, which didn't fix it. Trying to force the quest to finish via the console didn't work either, they still continue to stand around in a circle and Arngeir repeats the same dialogue.

Tried loading the game with no mods installed, and that didn't do anything... has anyone else ever had this issue? Any potential fixes? :(

  14. Very upsetting because I'm in the middle of trying to download a bunch of things... for some reason I can't log in to any of the Nexus sites, I enter my username and password but the fields remain empty after pressing Login... what's going on?
  15. They had every opportunity, they simply chose not to for religious reasons. TES isn't really a true medieval analogue; it's more like a stew of different eras of human history, with a lot of magic and fantasy tossed in. But in 200 years, religion doesn't seem to have changed at all, aside from the controversy over Talos... everyone still worships the same old Aedra and Daedra, it seems, so there's no apparent reason for everyone to stop cleaning.
  16. Really, one thing I can't understand about Skyrim is... what in the world is up with all the filth?! There's so much dirt everywhere; skin, hair, clothing, furniture, etc. I know they wanted to make Skyrim seem more "wild" and less civilized than Cyrodiil, but I think they did a good enough job of that without making everything dirty.

Skyrim and the Nords are supposed to be based on Scandinavia, and that's why I actually find this rather offensive, since my own family comes from that part of the world. The ancient Norse people were NOT a bunch of dirty savages like Bethesda apparently thinks... in fact, cleanliness was a very important aspect of life; they brushed their hair every day, bathed, and kept their clothes laundered. They were actually far more hygienic than most people of Europe. Do your homework next time, Beth. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/wallbash.gif

Luckily people have made textures to clean up skin and hair. Hopefully there'll be more in the future to fix all the grimy clothes and furniture... bleh.http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/sleep.gif

  17. Which would you say is better?

ALL my Oblivion characters are vamps, since vamps ROCK, and they left lycanthropy out of that game. In this game I haven't really tried vampires or werewolves, but I certainly plan to!

And out of curiosity, does lycanthropy make you immortal like vampirism does, or does a werewolf still age like a mortal?
