  1. What I can not seem to figure out is why so many people that obviously have a major problem with the game and "can't play it anymore" still come to the forums at all. Discussion (civilized discussion) is one thing and there are plenty of little flaws to talk about, but if it's that bad and so personal for you it seems as though you should remove yourself from all things Skyrim and do/talk about something you do enjoy ( it's better for your mental health). Still this thread was an entertaining read.
  2. Do you have the latest version of the unofficial patch and have it in the correct load order? It definitely does link the weapons to the body so when the body goes so does the weapon. It also comes in handy if you send an enemy flying off a cliff and he drops his weapon before he falls, can still loot the body without chasing it down.
  3. Well I did it once but I don't know how... thought I just deleted all my saves and it started over by itself. But I was on save 1500 something and now I'm getting back to around 500. It's just a number though, doesn't really affect anything.
  4. I have never had any of these problems, and I have countless facial texture mods, hair mods, race mods... I never CTD. Ever. Which is why I think some of the blame for this kind of issue rests with individual systems. Granted, my system is brand new and custom built with a special motherboard, tons of ram and a face melting graphics card, but about 90% of my problems with Skyrim evaporated when I started playing it with a much stronger machine. I have a very modest machine and I've only had a 2-3 CTDs. I keep my computer up to date and clean though, plus I read up on my mods before installing them.
  5. Yeah this is not a montage and shows no kill moves..... link to the wrong video or just trying to get views of your bad video? I never click on the videos here and the one time I make an exception... false advertising.
  6. They certainly exist. I've seen quite a few magic kill moves since they were added. The new patch is supposed to change how/when they initiate. Are you using the latest patch? Perhaps that has something to do with it? I'm not sure how you could make them appear more frequently though.
  7. I don't think there is way to roll back unless you made a backup before updating. Your problem most likely stems from a mod. Probably have to go through one by one until you find the culprit. Perhaps talk to the guy that has a thread almost just like this and find out what mods you have in common then you'd have a starting place.
  8. I killed them with a sword. And once..... with my mind.
  9. I think this is just another case of "to each his own." I haven't felt overpowered in the game since I've been playing my mage character. I've added a few mods that make the game harder as well as balanced magic which really should make the game easier. Long story short, I die all the time. One arrow hits me and I'm dead, one power attack and I'm dead. I wear no armor and use no weapons. I honestly don't care at all how anyone else plays the game, nor do I ask that they justify their play-style. p.s. You still take damage while you're on a horse (in response to the op's comments on horse combat)
  10. I try to avoid picking up too many quests. Staying in one area and knocking out a lot of quests is one way to do it, but you always end up having to go somewhere else and pick up more there. I tend to avoid people that I know have a quest associated with them until I'm ready to do the quest. The same with conversation topics. If I'm just trying to sell some crap and go about my business I will not click on any topics with that shopkeeper that look like they'll lead to them asking me to do something. I also avoid grabbing the bounty/fetch quests from innkeepers. You still end up with a lot of active quests. Some I just ignore (misc. are easy to forget about). If I end up with a quest that seems like it should be urgent I'll go ahead and knock it out right then and there for the sake of realism. Those are mostly rescue quests or big quests with some of the guilds. But "find my sword" or "kill this bandit leader" quests can wait. Every so often when I'm feeling ambitious I'll just go through and wrap up as many miscellaneous and short quests that I can in one sitting to clear out my journal a bit. This is when I use fast travel since I usually only play for an hour or two at a time. I can finish up quite a few bounty/fetch quests in this amount of time using fast travel. I think right now I have about 5 "major" quests (including two thieves guild radiant ones) in my journal and probably 8-10 miscellaneous (two of which are join the stormcloaks/imperials). This is about where I try to keep it.
  11. Will definitely buy it. Really like Skyrim and will probably end up with all the DLCs. I never had any issues with Skyrim that weren't self-created (and easily solved) so I don't feel burned by Bethesda at all. I'm sure there will be some cool mods that are dependent on it as well.
  12. Just to throw it out there, I know UFO has a very specific way you have to go about uninstalling it. Make sure you read the readme or the mod description page and follow the steps if you do plan to uninstall before the update as xlcr suggested. I've never used UFO myself but I did read up on it (before deciding to wait on it) on the mod's page. I know it works fine for plenty of people but some of the bug I've seen being reported scared me off of it for now. Can't be too careful when picking out mods to install. I'm tracking it though so when it's nice and stable I'll give it a go.
  13. There are tons of perk mods. Some that give you tons of perk points, some that make them harder to get, some that add new ones, some that change many of them, some that let you buy books to give perk points. Seriously, just search around they're everywhere.
  14. TES Online won't kill the series. There will be plenty of new TES single player games in the future. They're two completely different entities. TES Online could do well or it could crash and burn and neither would affect the single player games whatsoever. It could be good for the single player series. There are so many people wanting to incorporate multiplayer into the TES series, now Bethesda can direct them to TES Online and keep all that online crap out of the next single player installment of the game. I don't understand how it's so hard for people to understand that this is a separate game made by a different developer. It takes place way before any other TES game so it's not even like the lore is going to affect anything.
  15. Not really an "in game" event but I just recently used the deadly dragon configuration thingy to make all npcs and animals much harder and have since been getting my butt kicked. So I'm very cautious now as most things kill my unarmored mage in one or two hits. So I was exploring some ruin the other day taking it nice and slow. I was grabbing a few potions off a shelf when I hear a noise and get attacked from behind. I completely jump out of my seat, dropped my mouse on the floor and spilled beer on myself. I get myself back together and spin around to see it was a stupid skeever. Kinda had to be there I guess (but I'm glad no one else was there to see me). I've had a couple moments like this but since really turning up the difficulty it seems I'm much more susceptible to having the crap scared out of me by the game. The sounds of Skyrim mods are helping as well, some of those sounds creep me out man.
  16. I sometimes see some good gear in shops, but yeah the stuff you find is usually better. Since everything is leveled you end up finding the same type of stuff in the shops that you find in the chests. Seems like you'd be able to change the leveled lists for shopkeepers so they always have a few items that are above your level (thereby better than npc drops and chests). I dunno maybe this is a mod all ready. I know there are a couple merchant/economic overhauls but I haven't seen one that really does what I want (and what bethesda initially said would be in the game), that being a really economy. There are couple promising ones that I'm tracking but I'm waiting for the bugs to get worked out and them to incorporate more features. I'm also still wary of installing any of these gameplay/mechanics overhauls while Beth is still releasing patches somewhat frequently. Adding weapon and armor durability back into the game would be cool. It was a pain in Morrowind but it added another dynamic to the game and I'd still rather have it than not. Still confuses me why they would take so much out of the game, a few things I could understand but they dropped a lot of content from game to game (and didn't really add all that much).
  17. This happens to me occasionally but usually goes back to normal the next time I save. How big are your save files?
  18. It works like every other beta, you don't pay for betas. They're just picking a set number of people to test it, then they get the final version for free as well.
  19. Yeah it's terrible. I run around 3rd person most of the time and fight in 1st, unless I'm using an area spell and it doesn't matter where it goes as long as it's close. Bad design though.
  20. Those water crash issues were caused by a mod I thought. I have no idea how you expect to install a previous version but I would guess just go back to 1.4. 1.5 works great for me and is the best one so far in my opinion.
  21. No, probably not. Good for 360 users though, they miss out on mods and being able to use the console so they need something good to happen to them. I dunno how many they're picking for the beta but they don't have to buy it when it's released and I think that's cool.
  22. I started playing Morrowind after it had been out a while (bought the goty edition with both expansions) and man did I love that game. I downloaded tons of mods eventually and loved it even more. When Oblivion came out my buddy picked it up and after watching him play it and hearing him talk about it a bit, I was less than impressed. So I never bought and still have never played it. Skyrim peaked my TES curiosity again and I had enough extra cash to go out and pick it up and I am glad I did. It's quite a change going from Morrowind to Skyrim (visually, mechanically, etc) and while it's dumbed down ("steamlined?") I do still enjoy the game thoroughly. They could have included a lot more stuff that's true and I certainly don't like that they removed things (crossbows, throwing stars, stats, spell creation, the list goes on and on) but mods will get it all back in there eventually. I am looking forward to the dlcs and the mods that will come later. I played Morrowind for years and will probably do the same with Skyrim. Of course I'm not one to play a game to death in the first week (or month) mostly because I can't. I get an hour in here, maybe two occasionally. I still haven't done many quest lines in Skyrim, just decided yesterday that I'm going to finish the MQ for the first time with my current character. So I haven't gotten bored with it at all. I bought it in December and probably have about 150-175 hours into it over many many different characters.
  23. I don't think this is possible. You may be able to make the world from the previous games (even this would take years) but you can't put the whole game there (quests and all) because of some legal mess. So as awesome as it would be (though the timeline wouldn't make sense) it is too much work and I believe also illegal to do so.
