  1. About the only information I know concerning windowed mode comes from Koroush Ghazi's Oblivion Tweak Guide (and it's not a lot of information). Here a quote from the guide: The only times I've seen much discussion about windowed mode on here has been related to people wanting to Alt + Tab to their desktop while in full screen mode.
  2. Hmm ... I recall something about windowed mode, but I don't remember if it was that same old case where the person was having sound trouble. Windows Explorer is what you use if you want to look at files and folders. It allows you to do things like delete files, move files to different folders, rename files and stuff like that. In Vista you can access it from the Start button menu by selecting 'All Programs' then 'Accessories' and scroll down to 'Windows Explorer'. If you have a file that you know used to open with the Windows Media Player before your Corel problem (perhaps a song or video clip you have saved to your hard drive) then you can use Windows Explorer to find it in it's folder on your hard drive. In Vista you can look in the folder 'Sample Videos' found in 'Documents\Videos' (not sure if it would be the same in Windows 7). If you right click on one of those sample video files and at the top of the right click menu it says 'Play' then the file is associated with Windows Media Player. If it says something like 'Play using Corel' or something similar then you have some leftover stuff from the Corel installation.
  3. Don't worry about the language issue. You are doing far better in English than I could ever hope to in your native language. I will try to keep my comments and answers using as plain and simple English as I can. If you read the edit I made to my previous post I think I've got how to get the file associations. If you can find a media file using Windows Explorer and right mouse click on it you will get something like 'Open with Corel' or 'Play with Corel' at the top of the right click menu. If it just says 'Open' or 'Play' then I think you did get Corel completely uninstalled. If it says 'Open with Corel' or 'Play with Corel' (or any other program) then you will need to go to where it says 'Open with ...' on the right click menu and that will open anther option to 'Choose default program'. In that window it will have some recommended programs at the top. Hopefully one of those will be Media Player (the default media player that comes installed with Windows). Select that and then make sure the 'Always use this program to open this kind of file' has a check mark in the little box. Click 'OK' and see if you can get the music in your game.
  4. When you installed the Corel thing did you have trouble and go through more than one attempt? It's almost like some file association got messed up and wasn't set back to original when you uninstalled the Corel (and did that uninstall go smoothly?). Something I read somewhere on here just recently was claiming that Oblivion uses Windows Media or something to that effect. If those file associations are messed it may mess with Oblivion too. Looking on my Vista laptop I'm not having any luck finding where to view and/or change the current file associations (God I hate Vista ... I'm a true blue Win XP dinosaur). If you can track that down you may find something. - Edit - OK on Vista (and I'll assume Win 7) if you right click a file you can see info on the file associations from the right click menu 'Open with ->' 'Choose default programs' (and I think if a non-Microsoft program is already associated with the file extension it will appear as a bolded 'Open with <name of the program>' at the top of the right click menu).
  5. Quite a while back there was another situation I helped out on, and when it got to the same point you're at (game works, just without music) I don't think any more progress was made. If I can find the old thread I'll check out if there was something else you could try. I seem to recall that Realtek was the sound system in that case too. My non-gaming laptop uses Realtek, and I've updated the sound drivers a number of times. The most recent version shown on their driver download page is version R2.69 (you can find your current version by opening Control Panel and then opening the Realtek HD Audio Manager applet). In the lower right corner find the 'i' and click it. At the top of the 'Information' dialogue find 'Audio Driver Version'. Their R2.69 driver download will give you audio driver version 6.0.1.6649 and under Vista and Windows 7 supports the following Realtek chipsets: ALC882, ALC883, ALC885, ALC886, ALC887, ALC888, ALC889, ALC892, ALC899, ALC861VD, ALC660,, ALC662, ALC663, ALC665, ALC670, ALC671, ALC672, ALC676, ALC680, ALC221, ALC231, ALC260, ALC262, ALC267, ALC268, ALC269, ALC270, ALC272, ALC273, ALC275, ALC276, ALC280, ALC282, ALC283 and ALC290. You can find your chipset on the lower portion of the 'Information' dialogue next to 'Audio Codec'. If you're not at the latest version I suggest you try updating. After you download the correct driver version from the Realtek download site (you'll need to tick 'I accept the above' and then click next for the link to advance to the download page ...make sure you get either the 32 bit or 64 bit version depending on whether your Windows version is 32 bit or 64 bit) just run the file 'setup.exe'. Here's an excerpt from the install instructions in the readme: Before you update make sure the Corel software is no longer listed in the Control Panel applet 'Programs and Features' (it wouldn't hurt to run a registry cleaner to remove all traces of Corel). Also while you have the Realtek applet open check to make sure you have no audio effects active (Sound Effects tab).
  6. Make sure your merchant's class is merchant class.
  7. Another thing to keep in mind when troubleshooting is that Oblivion 'sees' files that are in the Data folder and it's subfolders whether or not they are activated (in the case of esp and esm files). Try moving your mod's files to a temporary folder outside of the game's folders and see if it helps. - Edit - On the subject of your missing Oblivion.exe it should be in your Oblivion folder along with Oblivion_Loader.exe. What operating system are you running and where is the game installed (e.g. C:\Program Files)?
  8. Hmm ... what wiki were you looking at? The UESP Wiki for Conjuration spell gives the seconds for each: Oblivion Spells - Conjuration.
  9. Do you still crash if you deactivate your companion mod? Often crashes at startup are a sign of missing masters. Did you make your companion from scratch or is it a CM Partner based companion? If it is CM Partner based the tutorial distributed with the CM Partner Basic download is very specific about mod de-isolation if I recall correctly. Be sure you followed all the steps.
  10. So if you create a new character, travel to the IC and you don't have a problem that would indicate something that is mucking up your saves. There is one thing you could try that might help. Open the console (on standard keyboards you hit the tilde (~) key just below the Esc key) and at the console prompt type 'coc center' (without the quote marks) and hit Enter. You will be transported to an open plain with a few trees visible in the distance. Using the game 'Wait' menu wait 72 hours plus a bit (three full days and then a bit more). Open the console again and enter 'coc weye' (again without the quotes). You will be transported to inside the fisherman's house a Weye. See if you can get to the IC without problems.
  11. Sorry, missed that. I'm stumped then and I won't be able to do any testing for you as I'm away for the summer and stuck with just my lame-a$$ non-gaming laptop. I see you posted a question in the mod comments, and that's about the only other advice I could offer.
  12. Looking through the readme leads me to believe the 'vanilla' ScreenEffects doesn't have an ability like what you are after (saving settings between gameplay sessions). A quote from the readme (emphasis added): To get one of those presets to be persistent between game sessions I think you'll need to create a mod that has an appropriate script (created by you).
  13. Looking at the timestamps of you OP and then your edit I'd say you installed the mods either all in one fell swoop or in big bunches. Best bet for troubleshooting is a slower more methodical approach. Install the game, patch to version 1.2.0416 and play through the tutorial dungeon to the sewer exit. Make a save (either named save from the console or regular save from the Esc menu ... quicksave is a known problem causer). Exit the sewers, set your game settings to your liking and go to the IC Market District (this is to confirm vanilla game is working to your satisfaction at your chosen game settings). If you make another save at this point (not overwriting your previous save if you used the Esc menu save ... always save in a new slot) it can be a handy testing save down the road. Now start adding mods one at a time (or in related groups), testing in between. When and if problems surface you'll have a pretty short list of who the culprit could be (last mod added). I know it sounds tedious, but sometimes slower is faster in the long run.
  14. There can only be one male and one female body in the game (limitation of the game engine). The set body mods work by putting on the various other bodies as though they were clothes, which works because the way the game works clothes or armor 'become' the part of the body they cover. I'm no scripter, but I think what you'll need to do is 'borrow' code (with permission of course) from the set body mod and duplicate it's actions using your script and body meshes. I regularly replace body options in BBB Designer Body Spell that I don't use with ones that are compatible that I want ... it's a simple file replace in the appropriate Bombshell subfolder. Thing is, to see the new bodies I need to cast the Set Body spell on an NPC. I take it you'd rather have all the selecting and casting taken care of via script. If anyone knows how to get around this it's DrakeTheDragon.
  15. Other mods I've used have an ini file located in either the Data folder or an Ini subfolder from Data (I don't use ScreenEffects so I can't say for sure about it). Simplest way to tell where ScreenEffects ini is located is extract the download to a temporary folder and examine the contents.
  16. I would think that any mod that looked for obse_Loader.exe as a way to determine whether or not you have OBSE will see the file and figure that means you're running OBSE. When that mod uses an OBSE function in one of it's scripts all will be well because you have OBSE activated via the three OBSE .dll files that Steam requires. I'm quite sure that if you tried running the Steam version of Oblivion using the obse_Loader.exe you'd run into trouble (probably failure to even start the game). Just having obse_Loader.ex sitting in your Oblivion folder won't create any problems ... it can't run unless called (via double click in Windows Explorer, run command or desktop shortcut for example) and no mod is going to call obse_Loader.exe as it needs to run before the game starts so it can inject it's code. Looking for obse_Loader.exe is just a way the modder has tried to cut down on support problems by looking for it and probably warning the user if it's not found. You could find the part of the mod installation script that looks for obse_Loader.exe and comment it out and be alright (I'm assuming that it's OMOD scripts that are raising this issue for you).
  17. What make is the sound card or on-board sound (e,g, Creative or Realtek)?
  18. Having obse_Loader.exe in your Oblivion folder in a Steam version game is quite a bit different than trying to start the Steam version of the game with obse_Loader.exe. The OBSE team worked with the Steam team to make OBSE work with the Steam version of Oblivion. The method used for Steam is different than the method used for the disk versions of the game (Steam version uses an extra .dll ... disk version uses obse_Loader.exe). If just having obse_Loader.exe in your Oblivion folder works to get OBSE dependent mods thinking you have OBSE loaded (which you do have via the Steam version .dll files) then you have accomplished what you need.
  19. Precede your script code with a ['code'] (without the quote marks needed so it will show in this post) and end the script code block with a ['/code'] (again without the quote marks). Tabs will then work within the code tags.
  20. Pretty sizable load order to run with no bashed patch. Do you also get the crash when starting a new character and visiting the Imperial City? If you can visit the IC with a new character then your problem is with all those previous saves. If you can't visit the IC even with a new character then your problem is more likely a mod conflict.
  21. Try disabling the ad blocker for this site and see if it makes a difference. I'm pretty sure that will be the first suggestion from one of the site admins.
  22. Are you using any ad blockers? As this is more of a problem with the site than a problem with Oblivion you'll probably get better results from a post in the Feedback, suggestions and questions forum, perhaps on the This is the site feedback/questions section or start your own thread in that forum. A word of advice ... even though you're are frustrated (and rightly so) the use of profanity in your post isn't going to lead anywhere that will lead to a solution.
  23. The benefit of a more powerful power supply would be felt after your graphics upgrade. Once your system peak loads start to be greater than what your power supply can stand you'll begin getting data corruption (if the peak happens during a write operation for example), more frequent crashing during taxing operations (e.g. middle of a fight with a bunch of bandits) and you'll shorten the remaining life of your existing power supply (and hopefully when it dies it doesn't cause irreparable damage to the rest of your machine).
  24. So when you say "using install as admin while admin" you are changing your standard user account to an administrator account, installing the game and then trying to get it to start, correct (assuming you wish to run the game under your standard account)? Also what operating system are you running?
  25. You already said you are trying to install using an administer account so I don't see that being an issue. When I'm installing a game I usually change my everyday account to an administrator account temporarily while doing the install and first run rather than trying to install in my regular account from the administrator account. Do you use more than one account similar to what I'm describing (i.e. an regular non-administrator account for everyday use and a separate administrator account for administrative tasks)?
