  1. I am finding navmeshing to be the bane of interior cells - which are otherwise so enjoyable to work on! Of those of you with plenty of experience have you found using & cleaning up auto generated navmeshing, or navmeshing by hand to be the best option? I am interested in which you find easier to implement, but probably more so in which you have found gives the best & least troublesome results. It's amazing how rapidly your enthusiasm & motivation for your mod diminishes once you hit the navmeshing phase, or is this just me ... ? Thanks!
  2. Is it possible to set a cell so that your follower spouse can accompany you but general followers will not? I want to set a cell so that my follower spouse is the only NPC that can access the area, & any other active followers will just remain in the previous cell without needing to be dismissed or told to wait.
  3. Thanks guys, I will not only recommend it to anyone else who asks but will try it out myself - I really miss the first person horse riding from Oblivion!
  4. Thanks! I haven't tried any mods like this myself so I didn't know what to recommend - & I already spend too much time on updating my existing files & providing options that I would never have bothered creating for myself without starting to find & test mods for other people as well. I really appreciate this as I prefer to help out anyone who uses my mod if I can :D
  5. Hi, a user of a mod of mine that adds horses to Skyrim has posted saying that they are unable to stay in first person view with my mod installed - I didn't even know there was first person view for horse riding? Going on the post I would say there could be a bit of a language barrier as it is a little hard to make sense of. Anyway it sounds like she doesn't want to use "Immersive First Person View" & is asking for recommendations - I have no idea what is available or reliable, is anyone able to help me advise her on this one? Thanks!
  6. RGM has created a fabulous mod called "Vanity Mirror" that does this, you can't change your name but it is perfect for changing hair, make-up & war paint wherever you are :D
  7. Oh my gosh! yay!! this is awesome!!! :D
  8. I highly recommend looking at Elysium Estate www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33939 as it has been updated since then & is an absolutely perfect family/main follower home base in a central location with (I think) all the unique artefact displays as well as a fair amount of mannequins & weapon displays & all crafting stations. It also is beautifully decorated & has an outdoor spa your followers will also use - yet it somehow avoids appearing over the top?! An exceptionally well made home! Homes by LD50365 www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/users/6942439 are really good if you have ALOT of additional followers & tons of armor, weapons & books to display. These are the ones I am personally familiar with & recommend taking a look at for your requirements. Good luck, there is A LOT of material to get through when searching for player houses!
  9. Thanks, I didn't realise, I won't include it in my next play through after all :( I directed you to it because I don't believe I have seen a lighting mod that also affects sneaking/detection - something that significant is likely to be featured on the mod page if it does.
  10. You may want to take a look at "Immersive Detection of NPC".
  11. I am using it with all the "Bijin" mods & "Males of Skyrim" with no probs that I have noticed. If you haven't already checked them out maybe they will help you out somewhat? Good luck!
  12. "Home Construction and Decoration" by Carlzilla? I haven't tried it myself, but you can literally build a house anywhere you want to.
  13. I like to use mod added houses as my home base/family home as I like to use the vanilla homes as Thane "townhouses" & hate the Hearthfire manors ( I looked at modifying them in the CK but they look like a total nightmare to work with! ). I want to have a commoners home with only cooking/baking stations for the start of the game that sleeps 2 children (I'm going to have to make my own as there aren't many of these); a middle class home with basic crafting stations that sleeps 4 children for mid game; & a noble home with everything that sleeps 6 children for late game. I'm also working on a mod that adds long term "lodgings" with cooking/baking/bathing/safe storage to the inns - which will be great for the start of the game & when staying in a location for an extended period when you don't have a house in the area.
  14. There definitely is a search option in "Add Item Menu" now, it's a fantastic mod for anyone who uses mods to add new items to the game - I LOVE it!!!
  15. There is "NPCs Cleaned Up", but it does add an esp, it may even be two, one for males & one for females - but it works!
  16. For anyone using "Mod Organiser" - the esp you adapt will be removed from the mods folder & placed into Mod Organiser's overwrite folder. When you have made the changes you want you can simply cut the adapted esp from your overwrite folder & place it back into the mods data folder. (It's a good idea to make a back up copy if you make a lot of changes). If you make changes & then decide you don't want to keep them make sure you delete the adapted esp from your overwrite folder before reinstalling the original mod, or the adapted esp will keep being used :D
  17. At the end of the day "Mod Picker" will be nothing without mod authors providing mods, "Nexus" would be nothing without mod authors providing mods - ignore the wishes of the authors & they will ignore us users.
  18. The fact that only people with "high reputations" will have a fair chance to have a voice is not necessarily a good way for accurate information about a mod to be acquired. My mods aren't the issue, I don't even consider myself a modder at my level of experience, I am worried about the really knowledgeable & experienced modders whose work I hugely appreciate in my game removing their work ...
  19. Read the description of how the reviews are going to be made, & on how the information that is going to be given about the mods will be selected - the concerns are valid.
  20. If the Mod Picker team have already put so much time into their project why can they not also put some time into considering the concerns of the mod authors whose work they will eventually be profiting off?! As has already been pointed out Nexus mod authors are hobbyists, they are not selling their work - I could understand the need for the review system if these were mods that were being sold, but they are not - does the team think that the community will thank them when some of the best mods are taken down & mod authors start disappearing in droves due to the complete disregard & disrespect being shown to them :( Please take some time to find a compromise that will work for everyone - remove the features that the authors have objections to & keep the rest.
  21. This is just my opinion based on my own experience - but what I needed/wanted the most when I first started using mods was one informative "Mod User" site that clearly & concisely presented me with the information that I needed to mod a stable game. As it was I had to google my way into various forum threads & random web pages to find dribs & drabs of information - often when it was too late as I had already created problems for myself out of ignorance. A basic understanding of how mods work, how to use them, what NOT to do, where compatibility issues are likely to occur, & what tools are available to help with certain problems (such as "Mod Organiser", "Wrye Bash" & "TES5Edit") empower mod users to truly get the most out of their game. For those who are more interested/capable being able to access additional information on the same site for basic editing in the CK would also be a fantastic feature that would take the pressure of endless requests for adaptations off many authors. I would have been ecstatic to have access to such a site! Also - I have noticed that authors of particularly complicated mods usually give extensive information on requirements, compatibility & installation/uninstallation on their mod pages. If so many mod authors are concerned does that not warrant serious consideration? Where would we get our mods from without them?! Personally I don't want to lose them!!
  22. I have found that Nexus provides a great site for both users & modders alike. The average user is not so dumb that they need a site such as "Mod Picker" - they simply need a little info to get them started modding a stable game to their own preferences. However the average user also does not appreciate the time, knowledge & effort that goes into the making of mods - so a site such as "Mod Picker" with such uninformed reviewing could end up being damaging. Nexus however provides a great place that is as supportive & secure as possible for both new & experienced mod authors to do what they do - "Mod Picker" could potentially undermine this for the authors, & if they are unhappy & stop sharing their work then everyone loses out. If it aint broke ...
  23. When you first discover mods & want to start using them it is daunting - but all you need is some good guidelines about what to do & what not to do. Personally I did find a list of recommend mods a good starting point to develop an awareness of the kind of things available, begin discovering & building my own preferences from, & then begin searching for mods that suited ME as I gained knowledge & confidence. In an ideal world "Mod Picker" would help people to empower themselves with useful knowledge that would assist them in finding their personally perfect mod set up. But as other threads highlight - people have an extremely wide variance in what they do & don't like & value, & a great many more people simply read the information than those that do voice their opinion. From what I have seen in the forums & mod page posts it seems to me that there are a lot of people who genuinely want to be helpful & constructive with their opinions (ideal world), while there is also a very loudly opinionated number who seem to enjoy the power of having an obnoxious voice hidden from behind a computer screen (real world). At least here on Nexus it is monitored. Besides this how many users already don't take the time to report problems with a mod that the author isn't even aware of, & how much more difficult will it become for authors when people who are actually inclined to speak up can do so on another site instead of on the Nexus mod page itself? I am worried that some really talented authors will lose interest in modding altogether & take down their existing work because they have lost even more control over their own projects - & that is already an issue when so many people don't respect permissions etc & upload other peoples mods on unauthorised sites :(
  24. I know it's not exactly what you are after, but it may be worth looking at "Loot & Degradation" by isoku - it makes tempering wear off the more hits that are sustained, even on mod added items, & NPCs will have equipment of varying degrees of tempering. I haven't played extensively with it as I'm more focused on modding for now, but I have done a bit of testing & I know you can set gear to permanently break & be unusable (but I'm not sure if that feature also applies to NPCs).
