  1. Maybe it is your monitor because the pic you uploaded looks like a photograph of real smoke on my TV/monitor, no artifacts or banding visible. I use a 47" Vizio 240Hz LED TV with DVI connection from a GTX480oc. Although I have seen artifacts/banding in other peoples uploaded pics.
  2. You may be able to find the answer to your problem here - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?app=tracker&showproject=3 -
  3. Here's a mod that will make it easier than using console commands - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2569 -
  4. Post it here - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?app=tracker&showproject=3 - it's the NMM forum and they should be able to help you.
  5. You should really post this here - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?app=tracker&showproject=3 - it's the official NMM bug forum and you'll probably get more help there.
  6. If it were a coding error we would have seen this problem before now. There's no doubting that Skyrim isn't efficiently coded which is why so many people with so many different problems report their other games work fine. Skyrim brings out the tiniest flaw in any rig. If your GPU is crashing out regardless of which card you're using than I'd have to say it's a mobo issue, perhaps your PCIe slot itself or your BIOS or chipset drivers. First try putting your vid card in a different slot and if that doesn't work then try reinstalling your BIOS and chipset drivers. If that doesn't work then it may be time for a new mobo. Test your PSU as well.
  7. We're playing on the same TV and I've never had that problem so maybe try this in your SkyrimPrefs.ini - [General] fBrightLightColorB=1.0000 fBrightLightColorG=1.0000 fBrightLightColorR=1.0000 You could also clean sweep your video drivers and reinstall them in case they got corrupted.
  8. Check this thread - http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1332062-bug-enemies-in-and-outside-northwatch-keep-cant-respawn/ - you have to use the console to do it.
  9. Make sure your SkyrimPrefs.ini has this - [Launcher] bEnableFileSelection=1
  10. Try this - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/524449-exe-and-logitech-gamepads-for-skyrim/
  11. You can download it free from CNET - http://download.cnet.com/Driver-Sweeper/3000-2094_4-75219868.html#rateit - just follow the instructions. It's usually a good idea to download a fresh copy of whichever driver you want to use from the AMD site to use as well. I use Nvidia cards myself thus I'm not as conversant with ATI/AMD so if anyone else here can offer some more specific advice for AMD and Driver Sweeper please post it here.
  12. You can try verifying your cache a couple of times (Steam doesn't always believe you after only one try), but I'd be surprised if that would work. You could also try the sex change back and forth from the console showracemenu.
  13. Try a clean sweep of your video driver and then reinstall it. Sounds corrupted to me.
  14. Looks like you didn't really lose your head, it's following behind and watching your back! Do the animations still work, talking, turning etc? I bet if you made a video and posted it to YouTube you'd have a hit. As no one ever seems to have come across this before (although I'll bet there are many out there right now trying to reproduce it!) you'll probably have to wait until the CK is released before you can get your head on straight.
  15. Even with that old 512 card you should be able to get mostly high settings with a decent frame rate. Did you find any hardware problems with your burn-in tests?
  16. NMM has it's own forum for reporting errors and getting help - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?app=tracker&showproject=3 - there may already be a solution posted there.
  17. The only crash I experienced with this game was the original dragon killing quest in Whiterun when I tried to follow the troops through the city gate. The only way I got around it was to go through the gate before them and then run on ahead for a bit. I believe this is a scripting error where if the troops go out ahead of you they just stand there and wait for you, taking up the available spots outside the gate and leaving your character no place to appear. Other than that most enter/fast travel crashes have to do with the memory leakage problems and running out VRAM (plus shared system RAM.) Does the problem still occur after a fresh system boot and game launch?
  18. Maybe this mod would help - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3159 - or you could inquire here - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/forum/420-skyrim-mod-talk/
  19. Post your problem here - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?app=tracker&showproject=3 - they should be able to help.
  20. This is usually attributed to the game's physics being tied to the frame rate. Try enabling Vsinc or using one of the fps limiter mods.
  21. The latest patch seems to have greatly helped desk top PCs while simultaneously hurting laptops. Probably due to laptops reduced CPU/GPU speeds and limited VRAM and system RAM.
  22. It does seem to be poor memory allocation in the game code and although I haven't found it documented anywhere it seems that alt+tab or the three finger salute clear the memory registers enough to allow for continued play. At least for many people. Even with hi-res texture mods 1gb of VRAM should be enough to play this game without problems so hopefully Beth will fix this in an upcoming patch. ( The game being a console port though I'm not holding my breath.)

  24. That was a problem yesterday but it seems resolved, for me at least, today. If you're still experiencing it try refreshing your browser window and see if that helps.
