how does multiple HDDs work
hoofhearted4 replied to hoofhearted4's topic in Hardware and software discussion
@Venca, thanks, but thats exactly what ive read on every site about RAID. @bben. ok thats what i wanted to hear. i wanted to make sure that RAID wasnt necessary for two HDDs. like i said, i can save my mom money if i use her current HDD with windows on it, and give her a second larger HDD that will last her forever! -
do you need to have a RAID 0 setup if you have two hard drives? if you put your OS on one and everything else on another, how does your PC read the other drive when your booting from the primary drive? is RAID 0 safe? like i know if one drive fails, you loose everything on both. i ask because i plan on building my parents a new PC sometime. and i wanna get them a bigger HDD, but they can save money if they keep their old HDD with W7 x64 on it (saving money so they dont need to buy a new OS) so i would keep that drive ad have a second bigger drive too. thanks for your help guys

well, the weekend Beta is done. which means im done. i got to try Bounty Hunter (lvl 7) Smuggler, Jedi, Trooper and Imperial Agent (all to lvl 5) all fun in their own way. BH was my favorite, followed by Trooper....smuggler felt a lot like playing Mass Effect. Find cover and use abilities, and a lot of funny ass dialogue. the game was great. im impressed with many things. they made it in such a way, that grinding didnt feel like grinding. Bonus Objectives. the only thing i was disappointed in was the races you could choose. there is i think like 6 or 7 total, but each class has only 4 to choose from. just stinks, with the tons of races in the SW universe, they give you only a few to choose from, all humanoid ones but ya. good game. overall im impressed. im very impressed my laptop handled it as good as it did. some texture popins and stuff, but i can live with that on a laptop. from the ppl i talked to, those with actual rigs, played/ran it just fine with no issues.

i have the Witcher 1, but ive only gotten maybe 2 hours into it. so my vote goes to DAO. it took me 60 hours per play through x 3 play throughs. plus a 40 hour modded play through and then some partial play throughs. loved the game and its DLC. never played awakenings, and have yet to start DA2 even though i have it....thinking about going back to a modded DAO soon though for another play through. was a rogue class last time, might try warrior this time. (don care for mage)

do u mean the g510? and nah thats a really good keyboard from what i hear. no need to spend $50 for the G19, though you could go cheaper with the g110.

so i was watching star wars yesterday and it reminded me of the Battlefront series and how much fun i had playing them. so much so that i think im going to go back to them shortly here. but it also made me think of just how much i really want Battlefront 3. as far as i know, the company that made te battlefront series is in trouble (or doesnt exist anymore, idr) so the likely hood of BF3 isnt high, unless someone else picks it up. but the thought of a battlefront on a PS3 or Ps4 with that graphics, and the map size and stuff just excites me. so what games do you guys really want to see. i say unofficially announced, but for conversations sake, just any games you are excited to see come out, regardless of announcement. other games i really wanna see would be a World of Starcraft. will it happen? well if it hasnt happened already i doubt it will. but if it does, u can bet id be playing it. as for games that are more likely im excited for Fall Out 4 with the graphics and size of Skyrim. the next Star Craft expansion Heart of the Swarm. (and the one after that as well) Resistance 4 for the Ps3, both MGS:Rising and the newly announced MGS5 (which will prolly be for the Ps4) and more Dragon Age games (though i still havent played DA2). Borderlands 2 is another game thats been announced that im looking forward to. Brink 2 i think could be very good if it comes out and they fix the mistakes of the first game...and i could go on and on. what about you?

its done its done. it was finished before i went and wrote that opinion on the game

i loved my anti material sniper! -
honestly, the homework is a week late. and its being a real pain in my butt. but first impressions on SWTOR, is im liking it. it deff feels like i Bioware game. there is a story, there are choice, there are light and dark choice, and there is full voice acting. feels a lot like Mass Effect really. which isnt a bad thing...im only a lvl 4 Bounty Hunter, and i want to get to try at least one other character before it ends tomorrow (or so i hear) so i prolly will stop there and try Soldier tomorrow. but ya. deff a fun game, i have an urge to try all the characters. like most MMOs, i have a feeling ill play for a month and stop then play for another month then stop. i dont think ive ever played any game for more then a month straight lol. because you pay monthly, im compelled to play a lot, then i get burned out fast, and im sure it will be no different here. i prolly wont get it day one. for a few reasons. one is im on my laptop, and while it runs just fine, id like to play it on my desktop when i build it. plus waiting also allows them to balance everything out and get patches out...i didnt experience any bugs or anything in my couple hours of play....the one thing that bugged me was when you use an ability on an enemy, they take the damage when you use the ability, before the lasers/missles or what have you actually hit them. just looks out of sync to me. this could be lag on my end, again im playing on a laptop, but ya. not a game breaking thing, even if its apart of the game and doesnt get fixed, i think id survive lol but ya if you like Mass Effect and/or Star Wars and/or Bioware and/or MMOs, youll prolly like this game. im getting when i expected with SWTOR, and im excited to get to play higher levels with friends when i get the game and watch my guy get stronger. i can see myself having a lot of fun with this game. solo and with friends.

well im a little different. i played about 2 weeks of WoW, got to lvl 46. then got bored of it. played a while on Champion Online, but never got past lvl 20 i think. im not burned out on MMOs, cause ive barely touched them. ive always wanted a game i can go back to, but havent found a game yet. until SWTOR. idc about graphics. they cant be any worse then WoW. i LOVE Star Wars, (watching it on TV right now as a matter of fact lol), unlike WoW, LOTRO, and even CO, i care about the story line/lore of SWTOR, couldnt care less about Raven Windrunner and Moria Thistleback (made up names) in WoW. think its the stupidest thing ever, but to each his own lol. im actually just about to go play for a bit. taking a break from some homework that is really being a pain in my tush. prolly gunna try bounty hunter first. then maybe soldier, then we will see from there. glad to hear others opinion on SWTOR though :)

What don't you want to see in the next Fallout?
hoofhearted4 replied to Lurker101's topic in PC Gaming
Nope, they should bring back turn based combat and isometric view. then Black Isle can come back and do a little PC version if they want. but to put out a full fledged game like that would ruin the franchise and bankrupt them. face it, more ppl played FO3 then the other FallOuts, no doubt, so to go away from what they are doing now, would kill them. that would be like Metal Gear Solid going back to a top down view. or Final Fantasy going back to tun based combat on the consoles (not counting the DS) or any game ever going back to their old graphics. as i said, if Black Isle or whoever made those first fall outs, want to put out an homage to their work then so be it, i wont play it, but im sure some old fans will. but to think that FO4 would revert is just insane.....it wouldnt sell on console. -

you DONT wanna see that? -
i dont mind a big map, but like i said, i dont like baron. ie New Vegas. there is nothing cool about a post apocalyptic desert. it was baron before the war, there is no sense of WOW when im looking at a nuked desert as opposed to a nuked city... what made DC so special is i (and many others) had been there. so seeing a place we had been, nuked, was quite amazing. i remember walking through the Arlington National Cemetery in FO3 and remembering walking there in real life....cant say that about a desert, and again, even if i had been to Vegas, not much is gunna change about the desert.

considering ive mainly a Ps3 gamer, my choices for PC are limited. idk if i could narrow it down to one favorite game. Dragon Age Origins ive spend easily 250+ hours on. Starcraft Brood War ive spent easily just as much on (and now SC2) and the Command and Conquer series ive also spent tons of hours on (mostly Generals/Zero Hour) and have enjoyed every minute of them. if you wanna include my main platform. ive beaten Fallout 3, three times, gotten 100% trophies, DLC and everything. loved the game. might even go back. Resistance series, but especially Resistance 2 (Which i spent months on) also a favorite of mine. but Metal Gear Solid 4, while not even close to the game i spent the most time on, of both systems, is my favorite game ever. Best Story, graphics, gameplay, just simply an amazing perfect game imo and the best game ive ever played on any platform.

lol i posted exactly what i dont want in the thread about what i want. not gunna retype it here, just redirect you there :P -
well i got the invitation the other day, and i was allowed to start at 10:00 this morning. i started downloading around like 3 or 4, and i am still freaking downloading. it started off at roughly ~1mb/s and has slowly dwindled down to 550kb/s as of right now. i think ive downloaded roughly 12gb so far (it was 1gb for the first thing, then it was 11gb for this last thing, now im downloading something that is 5gb) everytime i think im almost done, it goes into something else to download. and i think there is like 20gb total to download, could be wrong but ya. it will be downloading over night. i got a lot to do tomorrow, so i may or may not even get to play tomorrow. anyways, i post this (somewhat out of pure frustration lol) but also when i finally get to play, ill post my opinions on it. no im not allowed to post screenshots or anything here so dont ask, but ill give you my personal opinion, for whatever its worth. im very excited. i hope i get to play a little bit tomorrow! any suggestions on which class i should try first? (except the two main Jedi, have no desire atm to play the cliche classes)

ideas you state dont seem very FallOut like. you wouldnt join the army and fight and stuff, and if thats what you do in the last Fall Out i wont buy it. i like the idea of being a/the Lone Wanderer. i like the idea of no matter what situation i walk into, no matter how many others are afraid to do something, or have failed, me and my badassness in the Wasteland can achieve that situation. i like to be alone (or with my companion) and just do whatever we want. and that wouldnt happen if we were part of the military.....i like the feeling of whatever is going down, im the only one who can stop it. as for where it is. dont care. as long as its not a freaking desert again. give me something where i can see the destruction of the bombs, the remnants of my country, and the (failed) attempts to survive in the wasteland. New York wouldnt be bad, cause of the subways and buildings...Boston also wouldnt be bad, thats where the Commonwealth is supposed to be and that has always played a suspicious role....Florida possibly, with the Everglades (Point Lookout) really any city would work....i always wondered what post apocalyptic Hawai'i would be like ;)

of all the ideas, no one said: :nuke: Nuke :nuke:

likes to mix german phrases with japanese anime...jermanese? -
he wouldnt even notice a difference anyways. he already said he had no interest in overclocking. an 1100T will perform the same as a 2500k. and again, he already has the CPU. if he bought an intel mobo hed have to spend $200 on an intel CPU, which he doesnt need to do because he already has an AMD CPU....if he were building from scratch meaning he needed a cpu too, then you could try to persuade/convince him either way, but he isnt getting a cpu, so intel's pros/cons dont matter :P
-
yea, intel would be pointless for you considering you already have an 1100T. no need to get a brand new CPU as well. but as i said, the Bulldozer just isnt worth it. it didnt really live up to its hype. who knows if Piledriver will or not (its the next one AMD is going to release. prolly sometime next year)
