  2. So to paint you a picture myself and a pal come back home fairly drunk. I log into the game and see that a nuke has been inbound nearby the Rusty Pick and ask him if he would like to see it. When I get there I am faced by a squad of Super Mutants and another player is nearby in X01 power armour. We wade into the mutants and kill them. He invites me to his team but being drunk I don't respond and don't have have my mic plugged in. He reponds "F*** you". Did I deserve this ?
  3. Well all my posts relate to actually playing the game. I don't like the music of Justin Bieber but I wouldn't bother to go on Justin Bieber forums talking about why I don't like his music or how it could be made better. It's a futile waste of the one and only life any of us will ever have.
  4. @Zanity are you actually playing the game ?
  5. Looks a little bit like another popular game franchise
  6. I did have one surreal moment here where I climbed maybe a hundred feet up a staircase to the top of one of the support towers for the Monorail. There was a sleeping bag and sniper rifle there so I settled down for a few big Zees and I was attacked by MOLE Rats ! The best bit came when one of them jumped at me and shot over the handrail a hundred feet to its death
  7. I'm starting to enjoy the game. I set off this afternoon south east and eventually found Huntersville and then Fort Defiance and though the Brotherhood are all dead it reminded me of Fallout 4. I have so much loot that even though I have dropped a lot of it I will have to walk all the way home.
  8. When I pick up Recipes or Plans which I already have my new policy is to dump them on the floor in front of the vendor in flatwoods so other people can have them. Because I use Melee 99% of the time I end up with thousands of rounds of ammo too, so I dump them.
  9. If someone released a mod that stopped my game from freezing literally every single time I Quit it, I would risk a 2 billion dollar lawsuit and download that mod.
  10. Some of it is probably inevitable due to the game mechanics but I can't fathom any reason why you should have to pay to fast travel or claim a workbench once you have beaten the enemies. Or why you should have to drop your junk in the same area as the hostile that killed you.
  11. I'm playing it not because I am enjoying it but because I will be damned if I let it beat me. Today's nonsense included Not being able to build my camp or rather move it so it no longer exists on the original site or the new one, and I am homeless. The camp was pretty much the only thing I dug about the game. The reason I moved the camp was to clear out a town of Major Gutsys and I was so furious that I did just that, then logged off. Today when I log in they are all there again and they kill me. I respawn and make it onto a fire escape where despite being in power armor I get killed by a feral ghoul of a higher level beating me with its puny rotten fists. I respawn and find a way up a staircase to the roof only to be confronted by an Assaultron with flaming swords and a head laser. Guess whether I live ? I respawn and decide to leave the area etc etc etc I find my way to Camden Fairground where every single Scorched in the area attacks me , like about 20 + of them, in the dark. When I finally kill them all the Vendor has no caps and nothing worth buying anyway. There are 3 silly side quests, and I don't even bother doing one but I am told I have completed it and get a reward. Every time I click Quit the game freezes and I have to use Task Manager to close it. And I mean every single freaking time. This has taken hours and I haven't really achieved any except to move up a couple of levels which means nothing because even lower level enemies simply swarm you and then your weapon breaks so they kill you. Every time you respawn you have less chems and weapons and you lose your junk for no apparent reason. If the OP finds this the kind of thing they like, good luck.
  12. The status of my problem at the moment is that I clicked "Scan And Repair" on the launcher and it is currently downloading a 31.5 GB file :ermm:
  13. My PC is a muscle machine. I booted up Fallout 4 out of frustration and it ran as sweet as a nut.
  14. And yet here I am with nearly 2 weeks of gameplay utterly wasted because if I try to log in the game freezes. There's no way forward and no way back. What do you suggest ?
  15. It seems like that is how it works but my mind is stuck in this strange thing called the Real World where a Nuked place remains Nuked. It's all academic now because despite about 7 log in attempts the game freezes every single time and I can't load a previous save because there are none. I'm damned if I will waste nearly two weeks of gameplay and start a new game so it looks as though I am done with this game for the foreseeable.
  16. In the unlikely event that anyone is interested I visited Whitespring today and it is all back to pristine condition, but in true FO76 tradition the game froze before I could have a decent look round.
  17. cue Obi meme. "Congratulations, you've taken your first step |protagonist|, into a new reality" (the original line outttake from '77) alongside "Not a Bug, maybe feature?" Meme. hehe. ---- ah, the 'griefer'. Ever since the analog times, with Pen-and-Paper Roleplaying Games and Tabletop Boardgames, there have been "Min-Max'er Players", "Asymmetric Victory Conditions" and "Meta-Gamers"... bored with the game, they made a game (often with 'hidden rules') of their own... Their victory condition is; "Player is happiest when other players are least happy." In RolePlayingGame terms, they are players who wish to be Player-GamesMasters. today, for that particular framework, the options are rather limited; i) baud 'lagspike' --- there are ways to alter the latency, if you suspect a repeat individual is likely to try asymmetric stuff, it's possible to temporarily increase the lagginess. The Griefer will then quit of their own accord, usually of the form "This session's laggy" ---> "Fix Your Servers" ---> Thanks for posting a sensible reply to my question. An alternative to habitual griefers being permanently banned would be to permanently marked as "wanted" ? The funny thing today I tried to "Power Up Poseidon" and could see a Wanted player closing in on the power station with a reward of 5 caps on his head. I went round killing the Scorched and so on, and eventually there he was in the same room. I had dosed up on chems and had a powerful weapon equipped and I asked him "what's it gonna be" but he just played as if I wasn't there and eventually disappeared. It seems that my best strategy is to play these jerks at their own game and when they get near me, log off. If I had done today he would probably have died.
  18. I've been playing FO76 on and off since dinner time (now 17.30) and the game has crashed or frozen 6 times including one where I was supposed to respawn but no respawn locations were shown on the map. Anyone thinking of getting it, good luck when have to do a minor quest which involves going to Lewisburg and you face an army of around 20 super mutants.
  19. I bought a Turtle Beach Recon 50 headset so I could play the game properly but in a week and half (less sleep) play I have only encountered like 5 people who have spoken to me, including one French guy who I think was trying to chat me up as I am playing as a black woman. I did have one player (Orangeslices) initiate a conversation with me a couple of nights ago and when I plugged my headset in it worked. I have a feeling the majority of players are playing without a microphone of any kind (apparently there is an app to let you use your mobile phone as a mic ).
  20. I have never got round to visiting Whitespring and this afternoon it was nuked. I was close enough to see it but not to be injured. Will the area remain destroyed or will it be rebuilt after a set time by the servers ?
  21. Don't become a Toxic Todd too, we don't need to talk down to people who've fallen prey to 76. Advertising/Marketing and dedication to the IP has claimed many. Back on topic, though. The only real way to get around the log-out stuff is to not 'play' the game as it were. Pacifist so you don't die in the first place, watching your map so they can't sneak up on you and avoiding all player confrontation, etc. You can also take a bit of extra time to see if they out-gear you and weigh your odds before firing back. Unless Beth is made aware and changes the way that whole system works, which would be nice regardless imo, you've gotta play around it, just like they are playing with it. Always be aware of your surroundings, check the map a bit more frequently to see if anyone's closing on your position. Never assume that you'll be able to respawn and go get your stuff back. From past experience and a lot of hours in DayZ and Exile (Arma 2 & Arma 3 Mods of similar design), going back to your corpse is a death wish, and if you don't die, the person has long since left. If you have to pass by someone, always try to hide in foliage and stay low. Sometimes getting a bit closer to them to walk along a hillside instead of going over the top can make you stand out less against the horizon. Of course all this is null if they're doing the same because of the public map, but the confrontation will boil down to who can pew pew better, no matter how cautious you are. I freely admit that I have never played an online game before. I didn't "fall prey" to advertising, I was well aware of the universally bad reviews this game got but I decided to give it a shot for the £40 it cost me. It's been a struggle so far but I am past the point where I used to swear at the monitor, and the good moments where I have helped other players to complete an Event or just helped them not get killed outweigh the bad.
  22. I encountered one player who had built a camp at Wade Airport which I didn't think was supposed to be possible. I just walked up , gave him a thumbs up and received the same, tried to talk but received no reply. So I cleared off to a nearby riverside site. Unknown to me he had followed me so he walked through the door and as a reflex I attacked him. He killed me and I decided not to respawn.
