  1. In response to post #49984112. I thought I'd be the only one to think of that... ha.
  2. Call it: "Nexus Core". Simple, descriptive, effective, and keeps your "Nexus" brand name in everyone's face.
  3. I've recently made this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24039/? Which among other things changes the prices for curing radiation at a doctor. I've increased the price from 40 caps to 100. It works, but in the dialogue tree it is still listed as "40 caps" even though the player is charged 100 upon rendering of service. I've been looking through the various quests (I think this is where all this type of dialogue is stored) using various search filters but I keep coming up empty. I cannot for the life of me imagine where this would be. Can someone help?
  4. Hi all. I've recently tried my hand at making this mod myself, but I am simply not knowledgeable (or patient) enough to accomplish this in the CK. Basically I just want less raiders and mutants shooting at me out in the Commonwealth open world. It's not so bad in quest areas, in dungeons etc (i.e. if I have a quest to go take out a bunch of raiders it's logical that there is a gang of raiders waiting for me). It gets annoying when I get into a gunfight, clear the place out or run away, and then 14 seconds later I'm in another gunfight, followed by another gunfight 22 seconds after that. The entire open world just feels like a giant shooting gallery. If someone (who actually knows what they're doing, unlike me!) could significantly reduce the number of raiders and super mutants trying to blow my head off every 9 seconds, it would make exploration much more enjoyable, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way!
  5. Alright, well as soon as people say the word "script" I immediately crumble into a fetal position and hum myself lullabies. I have no idea how to even *begin* to learn how to script using papyrus. I'll just chalk up the whole experience to "would have been nice". I just have to swallow my pride and accept that this stuff is over my head. Thanks again for the help!
  6. Somehow I knew when I first had this idea that it would be a massive pain in the butt. Haha... Just for fun I am now deleting both lists and setting the failsafe to "none" just to see what happens. (Should be funny at least XD) I guess one last question would be, would there be a way to somehow find the object marker which places a raider in the game world, and somehow edit its template? (i.e. rather than manually remove each individual marker from the game world I could mess with a template it uses). Another idea I had would be to somehow use FO4Edit to find and delete these markers... I can see a lot of what I'd need to delete using the "use info" tool from the Kit and then delete them in FO4Edit. (Honestly I wouldn't mind so much manually deleting records, but it takes a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time for the cells to load in the Creation Kit every time I want to view its objects... :P) Anyway however this ends, I just want to say a big thank you for all your help. It's looking more and more like I'll just end up saying "f*#@ it" and dropping the whole thing... Maybe I'll go begging to the forums so that someone who actually knows what they are doing can make this mod! :(
  7. What if I were to delete the "fail safe spawn"? Would it spawn nothing or just an "empty" container (i.e. a naked raider again?) Or perhaps if I edited the "fail safe" spawn and changed it into an actual radroach (its race and everything), would the game spawn a radroach instead?
  8. I'm still confused, however. How would I go about editing the records you talk about? As far as I can tell, "lvlraider" is simply a template, and editing this record will have no impact on whether or not the raider will spawn. Basically I am looking for a way to make it so less raiders spawn in the world, short of manually disabling hundreds (or thousands) of individual spawn points. Do you know what the name of the "world object" (not sure about terminology) would be for the actual marker/object that is placed in the zone that tells the game, "spawn a raider here"? If you could tell me if I'm even remotely on the right track, it would be appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the info, I'll check that out the next time my headache goes away XD My original Idea was to inundate the leveled list with a bunch of Radroaches (or rats or something) so that every time a raider spawned, there would be a 50-50 chance that some sort of critter would spawn instead. But then when one of my entries got randomly selected, it would still use the original leveled list's main template (i.e. raider) so that whatever I'd use, a raider would still show up but with a funky name (like cat, radroach, or whatever other name I put). Like I said, no matter what I try, something very bizarre happens instead. I'll try messing around some other day... if I keep going now I'll just end up putting my fist through the wall.
  10. Sorry for the necro, but I am having (I think) the exact same bizarre issue as the OP. Part of the reason it's hard to understand what he is saying is precisely because the issue is so weird. I've modified a Raider leveled list (LCharRaider, the most common generic raider which appears in the game everywhere) and put the "chance none" variable to "100", because I'm trying to make a mod that greatly reduces the number of raiders all over the place trying to kill you. Logically I would have thought that this would simply *not* spawn a raider, and spawn nothing instead. But what happens in-game is that a human male NPC will spawn instead, completely naked and unarmed, and its name will be "Radroach". (Yes, you read all that correctly. LIke I said, totally bizarre.) I can understand OP's confusion. What the hell is turning this NPC into "Radroach"? It's still a human, it spawns in the same place, it is hostile to everything (the other enemy NPCs which spawn beside it end up killing it), it has no loot other than a Tato or something. And its name is "Radroach". It is utterly strange and makes no sense whatsoever. If anyone has any information (or knows a good tutorial) about editing NPC leveled lists in general, or knows more specifically how I would go about reducing raider spawns, I'd greatly appreciate it!
  11. Bumping this because I have the exact same issue. I'm trying to edit raider level lists but every time I open one I get the same warning "cannot edit combo box" or whatever and I can't change anything at all. Vanilla load here, no mods, no .esp files, I haven't even touched anything yet for crying out loud and they're already telling me I can't touch anything? WTF?
  12. Hi guys. I am not a modding newb, nor am I a pro. I have a few Oblivion mods and several Skyrim mods, so I've worked my way around the CK a bit. I'm wondering if someone can point me to a no-nonsense tutorial on how to tweak F4 leveled lists. Basically I'm looking to substantially decrease all raider spawns in Survival Mode, i.e. turn the Wasteland into an actual wasteland instead of a shooting gallery. (It's a pet peeve of mine, I cannot believe this crap made it out of testing. I literally cannot walk for 60 seconds in the open world without being shot at. Is this what passes as reasonable in 2015-2016? Am I the only person with any sense of perspective whatsoever? Are all games supposed to be like from now on until the end of time? Has everyone lost their mind? How does anyone in any gaming company - or any gamer, for that matter - think this is even remotely fun or interesting? Or realistic? Or challenging or exciting? Or anything other than sheer, unmitigated tedium? Sorry this turned into a rant. Back to the question...) I don't want to do anything too fancy. What I was thinking was simply replacing (or filling up) a raider level list with a few dozen critter spawns or something, so that there would be (let's say) a 50% chance that, instead of spawning yet ANOTHER raider who wants to shoot you for no reason whatsoever, it would instead spawn a mutated rabbit which would just hop around not giving a shyte about you. I do have a cursory understanding of how leveled lists work, but I have only ever tinkered with them once or twice with limited success. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
  13. It's not that I want to avoid combat altogether.. It's just that the quests begin to get tedious when I've already killed two dozen raiders and I can still hear more taunting me. It gets pretty stupid being a one man army. I mean I have barely begun my playthrough and I have already murdered about 75 people... Thanks for the link though, I'll try that out.
  14. Is there a mod out there that substantially reduces enemy spawns? I find that generally speaking the spawn rate is pretty reasonable in the open world, but dungeons/quests are pretty ridiculous so far, and if this is a sign of things to come I'll probably tune out pretty quickly. I just started playing my first "dungeon", a warehouse out in a town somewhere, I'm supposed to clear out some raiders that have been harassing a couple settlers out east of the starting zone. I am not even finished yet and I've already massacred about 30 different raiders. It's getting pretty ridiculous. I am sick of games like this that are just constant combat, i.e. me the uber-badass superhero versus the entire freaking planet wanting me dead, but every single one of them being more useless than Storm Troopers in a Star Wars movie. The action is kind of fun at first but just gets tedious after about a dozen or so raiders. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it, thanks!
  15. SOLVED - see solution at the end. I'm having a problem where I'll often accidentally skip the first line of dialogue in a conversation because I use the directional keys on my keyboard to move my player. This is problematic when I run into another NPC who starts talking to me, and if I'm pushing forward already I'll automatically select the "up" choice without hearing what the npc says or knowing how I'll respond. I've started a separate topic here, where I ask if it's possible to "unmap" the directional keys to dialogue choices. So far I haven't found anything to unmap the keys. I know there are programs out there (can't remember the name) to remap my entire keyboard outside of Fallout 4, ie. so that I when I press one key on my keyboard, Fallout 4 will think I've pressed another. This won't work, since that same key would still control both the dialogue and my movement, leaving me at square one. I'm wondering if there's perhaps a second solution, that involves something like forcing a 2 or 3 second delay after the conversation has started? i.e., freezing the controls for a few seconds so that I can't accidentally choose an option before the conversation even starts. I REALLY, REALLY need to solve this issue, because it very much screwing with my first playthrough. I don't dare start too much of the main quest stuff because I don't want to ruin my experience because of clunky controls. PLEASE if anyone knows a way around this issue I would appreciate it. I have been playing with the directional keys on pretty much every single PC game ever for the past 12 years or something... there is no way I can unlearn it now  Thanks for any help! SOLUTION: So I used autohotkey after all (google it). I told Fallout 4 config that my movement was WASD, but told autohotkey that my up down left right keys were WASD, which don't trigger dialogue choices in-game. I then told autohotkey that numpad 8, 4, 6 and 2 were the up down left right directional arrow keys so that I could still use them to place objects in the settlement building menu (or for other unforseen uses). What a pain in the butt.
  16. Nope, can't seem to change the key mappings. I choose one of the numbered options (i.e. the interface gives me a numbered list from 1-4) but the directional arrows still select a dialogue option.
  17. If I remember correctly, I had the style options but none of them gave me to option to remap keys. I'll try again though!
  18. I already have that exact mod, but I can't find the option anywhere to change the mappings. In the mod files it has a bunch of .swf files that I don't want to touch... but no .ini config. I can't find anything in the description either about mapping customization either... Did I miss something? Thanks for your help.
  19. I use the directional up, down, left right keys (to the left of my keypad) for movement based on my own quirky keyboard setup for pretty much every pc game i play. However this is a problem in Fallout 4 because I'll be using it to run forward (for example) when someone will talk to me, and sometimes if I'm not quick enough or don't realize a choice is coming I'll pick the "up" dialogue option without even knowing what the hell my choices are. Is there a way to completely remove these mappings? Thanks in advance.
  20. Hello! I'm just about to (finally!) install Fallout 4 and all its DLCs, and I want to start off on a good footing. I'd like to of course play Fallout 4 "as is" but I know me too well, it will only last for about an hour or two before I clog up my game with 100 different mods. So for this Beth game I've decided to take the plunge right away and get going with some mods. But ever since Skyrim mods especially the modding scene has taken off to astronomical levels and it's just impossible to know where to start. There are plenty of guides and youtube channels out there, but I don't want to spend countless hours poring over them before I even play the damn game. Can anyone recommend a no-nonsense guide to relatively immersive modding for Fallout 4? I'm looking for a mod setup that won't shake up the actual quests and storyline, but will improve the gameplay experience and graphics in general. Also keep in mind that I enjoy deadly, realistic combat. (For example I use a Skyrim mod called SkyTweak and I boost all combat damage so that there is no "damage-sponge" enemies). So perhaps a few suggestions for combat mods would be appreciated as well. Generally speaking I'm more of an immersive "Brodual" type of modder (realism, utility) rather than a quirky "MxR" type of follower (titties and Trains-instead-of-dragons replacers). Sorry if this is too vague or whatever... like I said I know that this is this Internet and there are 2,000,000 guides out there, but that's part of the problem. I don't want to drown in an ocean of information. Thanks in advance!
  21. This worked, thanks. Sorry for the necro, but hopefully this thread won't be deleted and can help others.
