  1. The left Hand is the "evil" Hand, possessed by the Devil and so on. That was the common believe in the middle Ages. If you use your left Hand to kill your Enemies you help the Devil by sending him Souls, furthermore, you give up your own by using the "devils Hand"... "Yahtsee" from excapist magazine theorizes that you are left in the dark regarding your Crimes on Purpose, so you have to fill in the Blanks by yourself. So he decided he was in Prison for shagging the Emperors Wife and Daughter at the same time while playing a Rock Guitar Solo on the desecrated Corpse of God.
  2. In Vanilla, i usually end up with 2m and more. I loot just about everything from just about every possible Location. With my Companion mod i have even more Money, since i wanted to outfit just about every NPC with nice Armor. Most Bandits and Marauders dont wear full armorsets, even the "bosses" arent dressed properly in most Cases, so i end up with many Curiasses to sell.
  3. Illusion. Running around in a dark Castle is boring. Running around in a well lit castle while being invisible is fun :D Alteration is good for Feather spells. I hardly use Shield spells. Conjuration is nice for having a little Distraction for the Enemies. A meager Scamp will do the Trick. Most enemies will run up to the Scamp and strike it down with one blow, but before they can turn on me they'll suffer a mild case of death. Destruction is nice to have when you are low on Fatigue. Instead of doing little damage with your Weapon, hurl some Fireballs until your Magicka is gone. When its empty, your Fatigue will be halfway up again so you can inflict some semi-decent damage with your Weapon again, that is if your opponent is still alive. Mysticism, well, theres "Detect life" and "Soultrap". I hardly use them, Soultrap is good for a 1 second enchantment on your Weapon, dedect life would be more useful if more creatures where invisible. But that would defeat the purpose of invisiblity...
  4. "The Brassahood is a superstitius Bunch of Morons!" I was going to say, until i found out that the Night Mother is one of the Normal Oblivion "Deities". You dont have to believe in her. Shes tere, in Bravil, being transparent. Well, this is not a Bunch of cold blooded Murderers, they are religious.
  5. They live in towns. According to toasters mod, most townspeople have poor Skills.
  6. Musical Instruments would be of very little use, because there is only one man in all of Cyrodiil who composes Music. Well, it would be nice if some people used Instruments instead of singing... "'Take Haert' the mighty Hero cried! He looked up at Dagon and cursed his foul Name!" Vanilla People do see when you are a Vampire. "You dont look so good..." I find it weird that People say this even when they cannot see your Skin, like when you are wearing full Daedric. Is my Armor getting sick too? Another Thing, which could explain why nobody in Cyrodiil has bad Teeth: These Things are harder then Diamonds. They can pierce Daedric Armor like its not even there. Well, this ist quite explainable: Try chopping a Watermelon with an Axe or a Longsword. Its not possible, even with 255 strength and the sharpest Blade ingame. So the People need Teeth harder then Diamonds to be able to eat this Food. Which would explain why Food wont spoil, even after centuries. Bacteria just cant get in there. They have some real Big Balls. Trying to mug a Person who has kicked the hellish Behind of a Daedric Lord in the sense of the Word, to Oblivion, would take some Stones i imagine. Kudos to the Highwaymen. They are either incredibly stupid or couragious, maybe both. Regarding Arrows not killing Things when piercing vital Organs: Its magic. Now that was easy :D Everything in the World has a magic Field which prevents Bodyfunctions from being shutted down due to injuries. This Magic Field has limited Energy however and will shutdown if this Energy is drained competly. The Organism protected by it will then die by an old Injurie wich was inflicted earlier. The Organ injured at the Time was kept in the Function by the Magic field, which now has no energy left. The Creature dies. Come on, this is a Good Thing. If People start making injuries "real", my Character wont leave a Town. It would be realistic if my Character can die from a single Hit, if my Enemie is lucky. Maybe my Legs could get injured, making me unable to carry my Load of Loot, or making me unable to walk. period. Ok, it really is weird having Arrows in the Chest and still be able to caarry on like nothing happened. But if i want that much realism, i could just enjoy the Cramp in my Shoulder i had this morning -.-
  7. At Fort Cedrian there is this little Bridge over the small River. On one End of this Bridge can be a Bandit. In this case a Bandit Bowman spawned there and happens to see a Slaughterfish which is underwater. He tries to shoot Arrows at the Fish, but it couldnt care less. The Arrows from the Bandit dont make it very Far under Water, so he just keeps shooting Arrows there until time stops. I went there to check the whole Scene out with 100% Chameleon. I could see the Arrows hit the Waters Surface, then beeing slowed down by the Water just to re surface again. Since the Bandit has, as any NPC, an unlimited Supply of Arrows, the things where piling up at the Surface above the Slaughterfish. Swimming through that sea of Arrows makes you feel like an Icebreaker :D
  8. There are some Werewolfe mods out there, but the Werewolf isnt very much taller then a human. A Giant Thing like the Akatosh Dragon would be a Pain in your behind. Indoors, you would have to fight as a "normal" Version. When you activate the Monster form indoors, you would be stuck right there on the Spot for all eternity, or until the Spell wears of... You wont be able to see anything, because your Head is several meters above the ceiling of most indoor locations. It would be a nice showeffect running around as a giant. Outdoors, on a perfectly leveled Ground. Without Trees messing up the Collisions...
  9. Baurus turns "unessential" in the Mission where you meet the Mythic dawn sponsor in the Sewers. Jauffre gets killable at the Battle of Bruma and finally Martin turns unessential when you have to get him to the Temple.
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_controversy#Germany Contra (Probotector) and Half-Life are mentioned. Presumably, there are others, but I don't feel like checking other sources. Well, we are quite lucky with Oblivion. The Races of Tamriel arent really Humans. You didnt know that? :D If they were Humans, you couldnt have scenes in the Game were People get murdered. But according to the "BPJS" (Censor) they are not human :D Well, Censoring in Germany serves a purpose after all. Without it, i wouldnt have known that there are no Humans in this Game. I guess even Bethesda didnt know that ;D
  11. Alteration has the hugely helpfull Feather Spells. And the Shields =) Well they wont kill anything, but the Point is: If you are good at the Alteration School, you are a Mage. A Mage who would have to bring a Weapon to fight.
  12. Ok, its not useless. Well, try to kill someone with Alteration :D
  13. Ah, a fellow German, Hello there! "Erzmagier" means "Archmage". Well, appearantly you have some english skills. Why didnt you buy the english Version? I buy most of my Games in the Original Version. Germany isnt a censor free Country. Computer Games are blamed for just about everything. Therefore, there is a rather Harsh Policy against Violence in Videogames. To get their Games to get our Version of the P-A Rating as low as in, lets say USA, Gamecompanies would change their Game Content. Some German Versions of Games have Purple, Green or otherwise unnatural Colours for Blood, with an Explanation in the Manual that the Enemies here are Zombie-Robot-Vampire-Alien-Werewolf-Ghosts or something. I suspected some of this Crap and therefore bought a "real" Oblivion Version. Besides, Localisation is not necesary. At least not for me, as i have some modest english skills which will only increase when i play english games and watch english Movies. Furthermore, Germany may be the Country with the best Voice Actors. But we also have the most choosy Audience. Me being one of the choosiest. It seems that i have missed the Topic a bit :D Mages Guild Quest. True, the Mages dont care how you solve your Missions. I find that realistic, as i wouldnt care how you obtained this and that trinket or whatever. Some of the "Battlemages" dont use too much Magic either. There are at least some "Mages" in the Mages Guild who wont ever use Magic. Alchemists are such "Mages". Furthermore, you would have to be considered as a Mage by any standards if you use Magic other than Destruction. With Destruction Magic, you could clear out Cafes, fight Monsters and so on. Destruction magic gives you a means to fight. Illusion magic does not. How would one make up something some Story where a player has to use Magic? Any Magic. Cant be something like "Summon a faded Wraith here". If a Player wants to be a mage that masters only one Magic school and that would be one that wont help him fight, then Bethesda would want to give him the possibility to do so. A Quest where you are given a Choice to cast a Spell either of this School or of this or of that would be sufficient, albeit a little obvious. Furthermore, to what end? If a Player wants to do the Mages Guild Quest for some Reason without being a Mage, why not? Well, you could always Roleplay magic; Your Muscles are augmented with magic and your Arrows are propelled by unseen Winds. Dont be picky :D
  14. He attacked me just when I was walking out the castle of Bruma, the guards kicked his ass... He found me once when i was in dark Fissure killing necros :D
  15. Sanguines Realm is, well, another Realm. I dont think Dremora can get into another Daedric Princes' realm that easily.
  16. 580: Horses somehow seem to be able to get Potionbottles open. They can even drink the Potions... 581: Black Hourse Couriers dont have an actual Route. They just ride back and forth. Appearantly its good enough to get the News to the people. 582: Every single Firemagic looks the same. every single Frost magic looks the same... 583: Nobody cares about the Cadlew Chapel. 584: When roderrick dies, his Followers wont notice it. Even after Months... 585: Gromm never bothers to check if the Fastenings of the stuffed Minotaur Head have been tampered with. 586: There is exactly one Person in Cyrodiil who composes Music. 587: The Inhabitants of the "Many Sanctuaries in Cyrodiil dont care about the slaughtering of the Black Hand Members. 588: Khajiits wont purr if they like you. Sad. 589: Lucien Lachance has a Chameleon Spell that wont wear off. Ever. 590: Imperial Soldiers somehow lose their Bow when they get on a Horseback. 591: Cheese wheels always have a wedge missing. 592: For some Reason, at least two Oblivion Gates and a great Gate near Kvatch vanished. 593: Kvatch sounds like "Quatsch", a german Word for "Nonsense" Being the "Hero of Kvatch" is hilarious. I dont need to play Shivering Isles, i am the Hero of Kvatch already :D Ok, you dont learn that in Oblivion, you just read it here. Think of this forum as Part of your Oblivion Expirience. 594: "Kvatch is finished, theres nothing left." Oh No! :( 595: Elves have more than one variety of "Annoying" 596: You cant set Wood on fire. No can do. 597: The Emperor dies. Propably because his Armor is made out of scrap metal. 598: Theres no such Thing as "Faith". Gods are there. You can get healed, cured, buffed on their Altars and some Gods even talk to you and give you Quests... 599: Sinderion is appearantly not much of an Explorer. And never was. And never knew anybody who gets out anytime... There are Nirnroots, some of them in Cities, in the Houses of People in Planting Pots... Nirnroots are, despite being nearly extinct, not very valuable. Sinderion appearantly hates Nirnroots, as he pays you to tear them out of the Ground whereever you may find them. 600: There is only one Ship in all of Cyrodiil that will actually go somewhere. And your Character sleeps while its going, so you miss the actual Voyage :( 601: Adamus Phillada's Finger is the most beautiful Thing in the World. Otherwise, i would'nt keep a rotting Finger of dead Man in my Desk for all Eternity... 602: All the Daedric Princess who have Quests for you which are to be carried out on another Realm, send you to some Mehrunes Dagon Theme Park Realm... 603: There are no Dremora Women. I understand how they got a little "disturbed"... There are no Bars in the Oblivion Realms. No Books, except those on or in corpses. There are no Games, no Plays, absolutly no Distraction. No Recreation... What do Dremora in their "Free time?" "The Same we do every Evening: Trying to take over Tamriel!" Narf!
  17. Im a dude, playing as a dude. Im roleplaying some Upgraded Version of myself ingame, which is a Nord. I am one of those big fat ugly Guys. I could conceal myself very well in a Herd of Walrusses. Perhaps not so well, with all the Walruss gals staring at the manly Fur on my shoulders and my equally Attractive giant Fatflaps. Sadly, this Qualities dont seem to be attractive to human Females for some Reason. Imagine an Ogre. Got that? This Ogre wears Glasses. Jeans and T-shirt aswell. Also Shoes. But thats pretty much it. You got yourself a picture of me :D I hate Ogres. Cheap imitators, pah! Sometimes i have to dress up myself to look like a Human. After peeling the moldy dirtcrust off my Skin and shaving the Bush outta my Face, i look almost like my Nord character :D Well, in the Char creation i cant add my Fat. I dont have a sixpack like my Char, i have a Keg.
  18. Some People should play another game. Seriously, Multiplayer mode? Go play a MMoRPG. I play one, but once in a while i need something different. In any Kind of Multiplayergame you have to make sure that Players dont do some stuff the werent supposed to, ruining other peoples experience. If i would join some sort of Multiplayer Oblivion, what would i do? PvP? That would require some serious updating. First: No 100% Chameleon, because that would be unfair to those you dont have a Char with plenty of dedect life Potions or a high enough Mysticism skill. And even if they had: You would have to do something about those People who would Camp at some Shops killing others just as they enter or Exit the Doors of some shops. Some People could shoot arrows from a Point outside of the Range of "Legendary Life Detection" First Thing about Multiplayergames: There will be People playing the Game for the sole Purpose of Harrasing others. And thats it. In MMORPGS, there are entire Clans searching for just another Bug, another Exploit, a tiny little Advantage over everyone else. If there is PvP possible in the Outside World, there will be People who would kill you. If People cant kill you, they will find other Ways to harass you. They'll break into your Skingrad house and pick it clean. If other People where to join your Oblivion World, they would kill any NPC they could find. If you find something to prevent People from kiling NPCs, they wil find another Thing to work on your nerves. They'll shoot the Books from your Shelf if the cant steal them. Elder Scrolls is singleplayer. period. If you make a Multiplayergame out of Elderscrolls, you would have to change nearly everything in the Game to prevent stupid People to ruin other Peoples games. After you made such Changes, well, you wont have an Elderscrollsgame anymore. So, save bethesda the Trouble and go play another game. Multiplayer could be something for modders. It would be nices if i could show Characters or Housing to Friends ingame. If they decide to pick something up, well, that woudnt be Bethesdas fault so they wont have do think of any Measures which woud ruin the Game, but make it Multiplayer accessible. As of the Companions: Dont. There is not a single Game in Existence with a flawless Companion. Even Alyx from HL2 gets in may Way from time to time. You can not come up with an artificial Intelligence that isnt basically moronic. Those Companions who arent idiotic suicidal and Annoying are usually very well armed. And armored. Back to Alyx again: she has very much HP. Good, my own Life should be enough to worry about. Companions with HP as "low" as the Players health, Companions who wont run into the Line of fire, Companions who are rushing blindly into their doom when charging some superior Enemy... Every single try has failed. miserably. Whenever i play a game and im told that i have to protect this and that moron, i know its possible that i have reached the End of that Game for me. If the NPC acts up, he will be dead and i have to reload. The Mission isnt to hard for me, i fail because of the stupid NPC. This means i have to reload time after time until i finally get lucky and the NPC script wont act up, or until i give up on that. The Mission isnt supposed to be that hard. But it is hard, too hard in some Cases because the Companion doesnt do what he is supposed to do. Like Farwil indarys, for Instance. The Mission isnt too hard. Infact, its pretty easy. If Indaril doesnt decide to go Lava Swimming. He isnt supposed to do that. But despite the best efforts of Bethesda, he appearantly likes being fried in lava. But, Lucky me, this is only a bonus, not a primary. So i just let the Moron run into his beloved Lava if he wants it that badly. A real "intelligent" AI hasnt been done yet. It will require much time, much work and money. And then, you still wont have a "decent" Gamesupplement, as harder Missions with this AI would be tedious. I forgot to mention whats "easy" with the Farwil indarys mission: You have to heal him after every single Battle. So you see, even if you manage to write some sort of perfect AI, it would make the Game more tedious. That is, IF (i have to stress this "If") the Code runs, miraculously, without errors. And it still doesnt end there: to see wether the mission is too hard or too easy would be even more difficult than it already is. Furthermore, if someone where to make a good script, Players would hardly notice it. HL2 NPCs step back, if they are in the Way of the Playerchar. Oblivion chars wont do that. You have to push them. To make them step back... I'd say... a week work? And then, i have more than one Companion. One standing in the Way of the other. So i cant get trough, despite the efforts. If theres only one Companion, i can make him step back onto a mine. How stupid is that? After all that work, the Companion is still a moron. So you see, a decent Companion cannot be done. As i mentioned, even the gigantic Scriptmonster Alyx has its flaws. And she has to be next to invulnerable. A decent AI script would cost time, work and money. And then it wont work right, it wont be appreciated or even noticed by the players and is, in essence, a waste of ressources. SO PLEASE STOP TRYING IT! Make the Quest longer, more immersive, whatever. But please dont make some sort of scriptmonster AI who is despite all efforts, just as moronic as every AI before him. Many have tried, all have failed. And the Harvester in Command and Conquer still gets killed whie driving through the enemybase. And Again, to let the Message really sink in: PLEASE STOP TRYING IT! There are some Complaints from Players who are annoyed by the fact that they have to rescue the World all alone. Well, there could be missions that have you retrieve this magic Trinket, but the Questgiver could tell you he also needs that other thing, which will be retrieved be someone else. Or you could have the Playerchar arrive back from a mission "just in time" to help NPC#15 dea with something that has occurred while the PC wasnt there. That would be something new. Dont let "Something" be some Sort of Enemy. Because then Players would have to deal with moronic AI again...
  19. Actually, light does have an effect. If you try sneaking around in a dark ruin, you'll probably not be found. But then if you go sneaking up to a bandit holding a torch, the light from that torch may be enough for them to see you. Also, it's possible to shoot someone without being seen, chameleon helps with that. There is something about that. If you have 100% Chameleon or cast a invilibity spell while the Arrow you shot is on its way, the Bandits will run up to the exact position from where the Arrow came. If you are still invisible, they will stand there saying something like "He was here a second ago" or "she". They even know your Gender o_O
  20. Mudcrabs. Battlemusic starts, me gets jumpy. And then its a friggin Mudcrab, stuck behind a Rock :/ Thats the Reason i enchanted some Gear to get 100% Chameleon. Bite me, buggers. That is, if you can find me :P Now there are Goblins. At higher Levels tougher then Daedra, killing them gets you almost Nothing, as they use crappy Weapons and you cant even loot the Natch Leather Armor. The Shamans are mostly imune to magic effects, so you have to physically hit hem. They heal often, so yoi have to hit them very often. The Warrior Types just annoy me with lots and lots of HP. Would be Excellent Training if they wouldnt hit you as hard as someone with iron Weapons without enchantments probably could. They must have 200 Strength and Endurance... Trolls are quite annoying; they see you from ten Miles away and can run as fast as nothing else. In Caves you'll have Trolls from half the Place jump you. They hit fast and hard, staggering hard. But at least they dont have as much HP... Ogres and Minotaur Lords are the only ones who can get almost limitless HP at high levels. You can sneak-hack them until you run out on your fatigue. If they come in Groups, You may have to repair your sword sometimes...
  21. This I'll have to disagree with. If you've ever played through the thieves guild, you'll find that the IC Palace is huge. The rest I agree with...mostly. Well, considering this thing should be the Place to live for the Emperor, his servants and Guards, perhaps Family its a bit small.
  22. i want to see a better Char creation, let me adjust my Height, fatness and overall build. Next Thing to do would be: Larger Cities with Larger Houses. Larger Buildings for the Kings, Counts and Nobelmen. The Imperial Palace is awfully small, smaller then the Castles in the Cities, although they lack proper Dining Rooms and Stuff. I dont want to be the Head of any Guild. Its not very realistic, the Head of all the Guilds is constantly roaming in Cyrodiil... Instead i want to be the "Hero" of the blabla Guild, which would give me all the nice little Boni but would leave the Head of the Guild behind his/hers Desk to tend to the duties as Head of the Guild. The Game should move a bit forward in time, with technological Upgrades here and there. A Character could be some Kind of Inventor, whiping together some kind of basic Steamengines or something like Hot Air Balloons. The Player Char could do Quests to get exotic Parts for some new Invention. Maybe the Inventor could bring some forgotten Dwemer Machinery back to Life. Please, dont get me wrong, i certainly dont wont to Leap to far in the future. I want to keep everything firmly medieval. The Inventor should be merely a Hint of Things to come, in the far off Future. First Railway will be build in TES 12... Repairing Armor should be harder, very much harder. You should have to go to a Forge to repair Armor. I can Repair 15780102734 Pieces of any Armor while in Mid Air. Thats ridiculous. Armor shouldnt be as easy to break. We deal with Metal alloys far far harder then Steel, so they should not be half broken after one Excursion into a Cave. Caves, Forts and the Like should be smaller. Why is it that every little Bandit Hideout is waaaayyy larger then any Palace of any King? Whats with the Forts? In some of the Forts you could fit the entire IC, including the white Pe... the white gold tower. Less stupid Quest errm annoyances. Like the Fighters Guild Quest where you have to *walk* next to Oreyn for like hours -.- Whats with the Forlorn Watchman? Cant he go a little bit faster? Why do i have to dress like a sissy to compete in the Arena? The Fires in Bruma and Kvatch will burn till the Beginning of the 87th era. Emperor Darth Uriel MLXVI will order to extinguish them. Why do you have to deal withstupid companions, which keep drowning in Lava, running into your Arrows and Fireballs and taking on 10 Enemys at once? Let me do Quests alone, NPCs are just not smart enough. They have never been and never will be. So would you please just forget about it.
