  1. They did everything to make sure third person is a viable way of playing. They even made the third person camera shift slightly during combat to a more convenient inclination. The third person animations are realistic. It's good. Many of the reviews make a long drawn-out point of this third person overhaul. Enjoy!!!!!
  2. In what ways might these books have inspired Skyrim? Please tell us! I really want to know!
  3. Do we know for sure, whether the game will switch from 1st to 3rd when you do a finishing move?
  4. (exasperated sigh) What are "SSD" and "HDD" even supposed to mean?
  5. Too right. When it was disclosed that there would be level scaling in Skyrim, everyone got pissed because they assumed we're going to get Oblivion all over again. Level scaling wasn't anything new to Oblivion, just misapplied, like you said. It's SO easy to forget that. @ Fatalmasterpiece: Yeah, I hear that. I hope it won't feel that way.
  6. I think if an RPG's gameplay provided more approaches/strategies to overcoming enemies, and different enemies were more/less susceptible to different strategies, the line between too easy and too hard would dissolve some. But as for your question... yeah I do that sort of thing. I indulge in chasing after the amenities, maybe train a little in my house, blow off steam, buy some stuff, and do a little light questing before I apply myself to getting over another obstacle to my progress in the game. Hey, it's exactly like taking a vacation in real life. Damn, I love TES.
  7. i agree with this statement  I agree with your statement that you agree. That said, I think the first person's comment is completely true. :psyduck: I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.
  8. If smithing turns out to be an easily neglectable skill... ...we will mod degradation and repairing back into the game as part of smithing, surely. The game will then be improved on two points.
  9. I too think the positive changes in Skyrim far outweigh the negative. That being said, the first person's comment is still COMPLETELY true.
  10. It's just the symbol of the Septim Empire. That's all it is.
  11. You mean a forum, as there will inevitably be? Or were you thinking about something else, more specifically?
  12. Whoa... where did that video even COME from?
  13. The Light Armor and Lockpicking perk trees HAVE NOT BEEN POSTED YET. Also, only three or so Alteration perks have been listed. You could look into that.
  14. Please figure out how the bartering system works, if you don't mind. I was under the impression they'd gotten rid of the slider, but the prices couldn't simply adjust automatically, could they? If they did, you'd have no control over your leveling, it would seem. Thanks!!!!! Edit: And could you maybe investigate the use of musical instruments? Can you play different songs? Do they have an effect on NPCs? When an NPC gives you a song as a reward for completing a quest (like Sven does in Riverwood), can you go use that song? I want to be a Bard.
  15. Plenty of the screenshots we've seen are from PC Gamer and the like, in case you weren't aware.
  16. I only like these sort of options when they're presented in a subtle sort of way. I don't like it when a game (cough... Fable... cough) tries to fill you up with this "woo woo, I'm in purple now... woo woo!!!!" crap. I'm supposed to be saving the world, not fulfilling a metrosexual mall-trip fantasy. It actually hurts the quality of immersion.
  17. Why? Because the Skill menu in the QuakeCon video said so. That's why. Heavy Armor Those trained to use Heavy Armor make more effective use of Iron, Steel, Dwarven, Orcish, Ebony, and Daedric armors. Light Armor Those trained to use Light Armor make more effective use of Hide, Leather, Elven, and Glass armors. Link. Dude, we settled the matter with the Elven armor, like... fifteen posts ago. I've GOT it.
  18. Where does he say "only"? In what context? Relative/pertinent to what? Unless the preceding question was, "Will the armor look different when upgraded?", this statement has no bearing on that dimension of the subject. there were a lot of talks about this and for awhile I thought the same .. I still have my fingers crossed they might do somethings like this in a mod but its not in the game .. todd has stated that they put a lot more work on the weapons and armors so when you find a unique one it will look different .. this might explain the "freak" amrors that have shown up .. or maybe they are just changes since the game isnt finished .. who knows .. but its not from smithing sadly :/ Oh, OK. Well that makes sense then. Thank you for clearing that up.
  19. The first one you've linked is Iron Armor, and therefore heavy. It's got a lot of fur trim because it's Skyrim-style. The second one is definitely heavy, but not of iron (think it's Elvish). It's probably been fully upgraded with the smithing skill (because of the coverage). You are giving Bethesda games way too much credit in thinking that the appearance of armors is modifiable in game via a skill. We have no confirmation of such a feature being in the game. As far as we know smithing only creates or alters items armor ratings. about a month ago a bunch of us were talking about this .. it was right when the reviewer character screen hit the net and everyone noticed that a lot of the armors looked alike but slightly different .. I put together a collection of all the armors and pointed out that there were only two armors that really looked different from the others .. then someone from bethesda confirmed that armor didnt change appearance from smithing .. so this is a confirmed no .. wish I had the source but this was awhile ago and Ive been fallowing every detail so closely that I cant remember where I hear things from.. could have been an interview from howard .. a tweet from pete .. or maybe it was from the art director .. cant recall but I know the rumors from the facts .. and this is a fact .. no visual changes in armor from smithing .. sorry You mean Bethesda, for the very first time, decided to fill the game with armor sets that are near copies of each other? That's a major departure from the usual design, and a nightmarish one too. I'm not doubting your credibility, but SERIOUSLY??????
