  1. Alright; I must warn you, though, that it's pretty atrocious. I have too many mods for my own good installed, and the order's likely pretty bad. :P That being said, I manage to get everything working 99% of the time. Also, it's worth noting that I think I managed to fix the problem with lips not moving somehow. The duplicate NPC glitch still seems to be a problem, though. Load Order - Active Plugins -
  2. I'm having some really bizarre NPC issues. Things like multiple copies of the same individual NPC spawning - in Solitude, I noticed three of Gisli walking around, three of one of the wizards in the Blue Palace, and two Erikurs. I've also noticed that, with some NPCs, their lips simply won't move. I managed to fix the issue here and there by activating/re-activating a couple mods, but now it seems to be quite random. Almost 50/50. And even with some of the NPCs who have proper lip movements, I still get issues, such as their mouth "locking" into place if I exit the conversation before they're done speaking. As in, I continue to hear their voice, but their lips freeze in a certain position. It's really unusual. I'm guessing I did something really stupid or something somewhere down the line. I've downloaded a number of body/skin/face/etc. retextures/meshes, and I've overwritten them, deactivated them, overwritten them with something else, and so on and so forth. It all seemed to be working fine until recently. Maybe that's the cause? I can't think of anything else. Any advice? Anyone else experience this?
  3. Thanks. That's what I was thinking of doing as an alternative. :D But, since I'm already at Alftand and close to the scroll, I think I'll just continue on and see what happens. I still have my back-up save just in case.
  4. I'd personally recommend the Nvidia GTX 650, if you don't want to spend a lot. Relatively cheap (around $100 when I got it), and I've had no issues with it. Any performance hiccups I have seem to be linked to everything but my graphics card, but my computer's also old, too. I believe it requires a power supply of 400w. Considering the performance I'm able to squeeze out of my outdated PC with the 650 (I could barely run Oblivion on medium-high with my old, integrated card), I'm guessing you'd get a pretty nice boost out of it, too. I've actually just recently gotten into PC gaming, though, so at the same time, I might not know what I'm talking about. Just my two cents. *shrugs* As for PCI, I really couldn't say. I know the 650 is PCI 16. I'm also not sure how your existing graphics card compares to the 650, being the noob to PC gaming I am.
  5. As far as I know, this is a fairly typical performance issue on Skyrim's part. I get stutters here and there, too, and it often seems quite random. Initially I thought it was because I had way too many mods enabled (which I did - around 200. o_O), and while cutting down on my active list helped, it didn't completely alleviate the issues. I get solid performance in almost every interior location (anywhere from 40-60 FPS), but outdoor locales are a bit unpredictable, performance-wise. I can be running along without any issue one moment, and then get struck by stutters and drops a moment later. It's annoying, but it usually sorts itself out. The problem's definitely not your specs. I just recently got a new graphics card and decided to get into PC gaming; my computer's 3-4 years old, and wasn't purchased with gaming in mind at the time. I only have 3 GB of ram at the moment, though I'll upgrade to the paltry maximum of 4 that my AMD Athlon x2 maxes out at soon enough. But, to my surprise, I can still run Skyrim on very high settings with HD texture mods, graphical mods, etc. Your PC's more than up to the challenge. Optimization with Skyrim just seems to be a hassle. I tried downloading something called the TESV Acceleration Layer, which I had heard was supposed to greatly increase performance. I thought I noticed a boost in my performance after implementing it, but I dunno. I just looked it up again and it seems to have been discontinued some time ago. I did come across similar mods designed to optimize and boost performance and stability, which you might want to check out. I'll likely give them a download myself. Skyrim Performance Plus Skyrim Boost More FPS Skyrim Stutter Fix I haven't used any of these personally, so I can't vouch for them, but hopefully they'll prove helpful. :D
  6. So I've decided to run through Dawnguard before the main story, and I was just wondering if there are any possible quest-related conflicts. Seeing as how you have to get the elder scroll through Signius' quest and all, just as in the main game for Paarthurnax. I can't imagine it being a serious issue - the way I see it, I'll have knocked out one objective early on. However, I just thought I'd make sure. I have a back-up save just in case, too. I don't want to inadvertently throw something out of whack, as I know that some of Skyrim's quests can end up conflicting and/or broken.
  7. Haha, thanks for the tip. I did try running it before, but I didn't really bother trying to figure it all out. I've decided to cut back on mods for the time being, though. So far I've deactivated probably over half this list. I'm hoping that'll do the trick.
  8. I'm confused. I was afflicted with vampirism as a custom race (was playing as a Succubus at the time), and no one acknowledged my vampirism. So, using the 'better vampires' mod, I reset my variables, re-acquired vampirism, and rested for three days to re-awaken my powers as a vampire. Which seemed to work, but they STILL wouldn't recognize me. Determined, I kept trying, and even tried switching to other custom races. No luck. Finally, I gave up and switched to a Nord, thinking that it would surely work. Once again, I've run into a dead end. I'm now a Nord with vampirism that no one acknowledges. So I can't advance with the quest with the Vampire faction. Any fixes/help? I'm tempted to just join the Dawnguard, but seeing as how I already joined the vampires, I'm not so sure they'd take me in. Plus, I like Serena, so I'd like to be able to continue on the side of the vampires.
  9. I've gone overboard with adding mods lately, and while my performance overall is surprisingly good in most aspects (some stutters here and there, occasional frame-rate drops, etc, nothing too frustrating), I have been getting CTDs at seemingly random intervals. Sometimes I'll get them in quick succession with no apparent correlation (i.e; I talked to an NPC , the menu froze up, and I crashed - rebooted, talked to the same NPC with no problems, exited Dragonsreach, ran around the city, and all was well until I took one look at the map, then it crashed again) and sometimes I'll be able to play a quest or two or wander around the world with 0 problems, fast travel around without much difficulty, and then, for example, get locked up in a menu or something like that. I looked up a few random fixes online, and one that seemed to work very well for a lot of people was looking in their appdata folder , finding that they had a duplicate 'skyrim.esm' written in their plugins document, and deleting it. I gave it a look, and didn't see any skyrim.esm located anywhere in the document. Which I assume isn't a problem, in that case, seeing as how I can run the game. So I thought I'd come here and ask for any feedback, fixes, work-arounds, etcetera that anyone has to offer. I'll post my load order list for reference. I'm aware that the order is most likely atrocious. I'm also not sure it's entirely up to date or reflects my most current order, since I copied it from the appdata folder and it was last modified two hours ago. I'm pretty sure I've made changes since then. I tried using BOSS userlist manager, but I can't say I really have a handle on how it works. Half of the time it didn't seem to change anything, and other times it deactivated almost all my active plugins, which I would only discover upon loading my game and finding myself in a random location with no hair, clothes, or eyes. 10. Hiya! I wasn't exactly sure if I should post this here or in mod requests, but I figured it made more sense to post it here. If not, my mistake, feel free to move this. Anyway... Recently I've really wanted to make custom music for Skyrim mods. After seeing how expansive and original many of the mods are, I figured it would be cool to have music made specifically for mods. Especially when it comes to larger projects, such as the addition of other provinces, or large side-quests/areas. In any case, I would love to give it a shot, be it with existing mods or projects currently underway. I threw together a sort of demo reel yesterday comprised of three ambient/orchestral tracks just to convey what I had in mind, but I'm pretty flexible and can adapt my style to fit different atmospheres/environments. I hope it's okay if I post the link here. ^^" I don't own Skyrim on the PC, unfortunately, so I don't have any experience in the modding process. Regardless, I like seeing what modders are up to and have been blown away by some of what I've seen on YouTube and whatnot. Having seen videos of Black Marsh and Elsweyr, it just seemed natural that someone should make music to fit such distinct mods. If anyone's at all interested in this, send me a message/comment either here or on YouTube and I'll be happy to get back to you. :D
