  1. For some reason, when it comes to shotguns, I find semi auto more satisfying. Plus I've hugely raised the damage on all the weapons in my game. I think my shotguns max out at over 600 damage, including perks. Plus I use Better Explosives, which amps up the explosions. So using fully auto in close combat could get pretty messy in unintended ways. The very idea of automatic shotguns makes me cringe but I agree that the combat shotgun was by far my favorite vanilla weapon, I switched to a M1014 once weapon mods arrived though.
  2. I don't know about about guides that cover what you're looking for but striving for a more realistic experience in the Fallout world is a bit of a futile struggle, considering the tongue in cheek theme of the universe. One of the first mods I've installed in every Fallout were ones to get rid of the exploding body parts. The first thing I've always done when coming to a new or coming back and starting fresh with a TES/Fallout game is to go through the top files list on the Nexus and download everything that looked interesting...this has led to lots of headaches trying to get everything compatible so I wouldn't recommend this approach to those with less patience or without the time to spare for the process...but it does give you a good idea of what's out there. I would recommend staying away from any settlement based mods right off of the bat as they were almost always the ones to break my game. Get everything else set up first and then ease into them. Then there are mods like FROST which will give you closer to the game play experience you are looking for but eliminate the story at the same time, so I would save that kind of thing for later.
  3. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt that when they make such mods it's in order to use them as target practice, at least early on I remember a lot of people wanting to dress the BoS up in full Nazi regalia when they clearly weren't planning on joining that faction. It's easier to believe that as proud Nazis are much less common than those who embrace that other tyrannical theme which has been all but whitewashed today.
  4. Well obviously the developers put that there just because they knew that it would drive a random player crazy a year later.
  5. GPU will have no bearing on load time, as mentioned above that's in the realm of your SSD to improve though to be honest it's more likely to be mods causing longer load times if it's as extreme as you imply.
  6. You complain about poor optimization but then browbeat people who play with weaker hardware? I don't think irony means what you think it means.
  7. What kind of issues does steam cause with F4SE? I haven't noticed any. I do have F4SE.exe added in the steam library but that's so that I can launch it remotely through their in home streaming.
  8. I don't see Sony ever doing so, they're not the same company today that once had official support for linux distributions on the PS3 and the whole hacking thing has scared their PR people into cracking down even more. As demonstrated above you certainly can use the console to advance to where you left on in quests but it's an incredibly tedious problem, one probably more so than just redoing them all. You can also use a number of commands to advance your level but that you should be prepared to have your starting equipment become woefully inadequate so that will require more cheating. I have to agree with the other poster who said that with the wealth of mod material though that it would be worth playing through again just for the added experience, I actually ended up playing though the Fallout 3 and New Vegas as well as Oblivion and Skyrim on my PS3 before I finally rebuilt by gaming computer and then I still put even more hours into each on that side.
  9. The only problem now is they are not violent.... I tossed a grenade at them as they just cried... Also thte are unarmed Hmm well honestly I never have used the command to spawn enemies to kill, when I wanted to screw around like that I actually used this old mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3865/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D3865%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D3482435&pUp=1
  10. That means that they created a batch file that most likely with a placeatme command. If you put a .txt file in your game main directory or data file with a console command, and then in game type bat filename it will execute whatever command with in the file. It's much more convenient for frequently used commands. For instance if you created a text file named it gunners.txt with: player.placeatme 000a0e38 5 It would spawn 5 male gunners on top of you when you type in bat gunners. That or just ask that person to send you his file.
  11. I've had that happen with sights/scopes but never "from the hip".
  12. It's been awhile but assuming that you were still alive weren't you able to keep playing in 3? As for 4 I don't think they even wrote a story worth ending
  13. Overleveling due to crafting is a common complaint with FO4, it's too late for your current character as Bethesda will not allow you to lower your level but for future playthroughs you might want to install a mod that removes XP from crafting.
  14. Well it is just your eyeballs melting or is it worse than it is designed to be? Do you have ENBs or other light effect mods installed?
  15. The latest one I've been playing, ignoring the story and just wandering the wasteland. Spent too much time on the pose.
  16. Dogmeat, I find the FO4 companions to all be generally lacking. If I had to pick a human I would say Cait too.
  17. 1. I'm not sure as I honestly never mess with switches like that. 2. Yes, just like you would assign them to a task. 3. Depends on your settlement defense level, if you have sufficient defense points for the amount of people it will be much less often. Mods can adjust this however.
  18. I'm about 90% sure that is what caused it, I've has something similar happen in the past after exiting the overlay. In fact I just recreated the exact same scenario by opening and closing the overlay a few time in a different game, mouse, tilde and tab would work but not other keypresses until the game was reset.
  19. Did you try shooting them? I imagine that you could probably use the setenemy command with the player and the raider factions.
  20. This. I've learned to save after: Building 1 section of wall Cleaning out 1 house Decorating 1 house Etc. Pretty much like every 5 minutes, ever since the time I totally cleaned up Sanctuary ( about 2 hours RT ) and crashed before I could save. Only once every 5 minutes? Risky...
  21. If I'm not mistaken Ousnius' Sporty and Lacy Underwears work under armor. The individual pieces not the set.
  22. Well where I'm at in Houston would be a flooded jungle so I would probably go north west, not that they would have built a vault in this area...just not too far north to Wyoming where all the nuke silos would have been targeted. I would stay away from the big cities altogether, scavenging in small town's walmarts and hardware stores but settling in some obscure town in the rural rocky mountain region.
  23. Thematically I like a lot of the early 2000s Thrash resurgence, immersive...uh no.
  24. "Do I look like a freakin' carpenter to you? I'm a two hundred year old lawyer go build your own lean-tos."
