  1. I've had suspicions that WE can at times overload the server, and as we know an overloaded server is not a happy server. Sounds perfectly plausible that it could cause some corruption. Kinda my fault not to have a recent backup though. Still working on it. I've got it isolated pretty well, but can't seem to repair it entirely. I might try deleting the entire region. Hmmm I'd like to congratulate the player who walked for what must have been literally days in a trek to nowhere. That was impressive. You doubled the width of the map (though only in a thin strip). That's impressive.
  2. A delayed hello from me Alonso. ;) Yes, if I can get these chunks fixed up we can bring back inventories. I'm playing around with the main chunk problem right now - but its looking like its a larger issue than I first thought. It seems to have affected more than just the immediate area around spawn. I'm trying to get track it all down, but we may have to look at other options. Unfortunately I've neglected to update the backup over the last couple of weeks so that's not really an option. Edit: And planetoids should be a valid possibility if desired
  3. It appears we have a couple of corrupted chunks near spawn. Anyone venturing in there will run into problems. As a temporary fix, Spawn has been set to the location outside of the "Karasis Merchant Village". Please do not venture near new spawn until I can get the world downloaded to try fixing the problem. Also - your user files have been reset so that you can log in normally. If I can get the chunks fixed these will be restored.
  4. Thanks for the heads up alonso. Looking into it now. I've found a few different administrative plugins - and have been testing some options locally. As such this has delayed server update. I like some of the new options, but am not quite certain yet if they're worth converting too.
  5. You have done a nice job with the texture packs KD. :) Time has become the sort of semi-official cheat command for the server. I admit to have lead the way in that regard unfortunately.
  6. From my experience in Oblivion this is definitely true. You will experience a far wider range of the world too.
  7. Goal is to update server this weekend (plugins/bukkit/etc). Should not affect players much besides potential short downtime. More to follow
  8. Alive Edit 1: For reference regarding "damn" - in some locals it is considered more impolite than in others. As long as no one has a problem with it I'm fine leaving it off the list.
  9. I am in a very rural part of Australia right now, and am doing this over a cell phone connection. I have recieved several messages regarding certain instances, and will review them in the future over a more stable connection. In the meantime, I apologize for my absence (I had not expected my work to pick me up this quickly) and ask that you all play nicely. Additionally, if Pronam is around - anything he says is golden. Annoy him, you annoy me, you leave server.
  10. Regions have been restored like they should have been before. Check em with string if in doubt Heal signs have been fixed (again - thanks to Pronam for the first fix). Balance command is now available.
  11. Warps are fixed. If you can't use them, let me know and I'll make sure to fix you up. Quantum - I think your problem is due to your load location. I have a suspicion you spawned somewhere outside the normal world (trying to spawn where you were last in the temp world) and that's why the chunks weren't loading correctly. I've cleared your user files, so when you log in now it should be at spawn as a new user. The server error-ed you out pretty quickly, but your client may have lagged on that, which would explain the connection spikes. Lets see if it works when you log in again Edit: If you still have a problem, do you mind noting down the location (visible through f3)?
  12. Server is back up and is running the "old" world. Most restrictions have been restored - no more TNT, lava, etc. Unfortunate it is, but griefing is always a potential problem. A few user files had to be deleted to stop some artifacting, but I don't think it should affect anyone majorly. Spawn should be restored correctly. Warps are as before. If it doesn't get loaded up I'll put the zipped world files online for all to access. Previous worlds should also still be available. Ask me if you want one. maybe transfer the ship to our next permanent world? A lot of guys got with that project and want to see it done and so do I. Assuming 1.7 doesn't do anything to make that technically problematic, that is a very valid possibility. Perhaps even spawn point on ship? I finish in 12 hours, and will look at things then (or probably more likely in >12 hours, after I have a drink and some sleep)

  16. Yeah, I noticed it was a repost after reading the comments. I missed it the first time round though, so in this case I am thankful it came back up. :) There's some pretty funny comments in both threads too.

  18. Thank you for sharing SRD. :) In the x32 version I'm seeing a partial framework around vertical torches. Looks like that is present in your picture too?
  19. It doesn't look like you could chain them together - but it would be amazing if you could.
  20. I think piston's fit nicely into the semi-steampunk mechanics of minecraft. They'll open up a lot of options. Appears that the implementation is smooth too - a major benefit.
  21. I found it was quite easy to repair those to look decent with a large amount of TNT.. There's a number of relatively nice tools out now which facilitate this type work. (conversions to the new map format proved problematic for me - but any maps in the new format were easily worked with). It can still be a lot of time spent patching goodies though.
  22. As I obviously failed to restore the world like I promised, I think this may be tempting. So... we may not necessarily get our map back? :confused: When I finish my exams I will look at putting it back up like I promised. However, if it looks like 1.7 will be out quickly, then it may be worth a new map for the new content. Will see. :confused:
