  1. I run around shooting things, completing quests, grabbing loot, and using the crafting system - these things are all very fun for me in this game; no real debate there, I just know how I feel. If these things aren't fun for you, then unfortunately you're not going to have a lot of fun with this game as the vast majority of the game's content is geared towards the first three of those activities ( just like in Fallout 3, and Fallout NV ). If you're over 10 hours in and nothing is clicking for you, then the game isn't going to get anymore fun for you because by this point you've encountered all the mechanics and systems the game can offer. There's plenty more content, but it all involves doing these few activities ( just like Fallout 3 and Fallout NV ). And that's okay. Not every game is going to be fun for every person. PS - Generally, people telling someone why a game is fun has pretty much never made a game more fun for a person who has played it and didn't have fun.
  2. Level 33 and have only used PA 2 times. I've killed some deathclaws with light armor. Just smart fighting and some drug usesages. Using the right guns at the right time is much bigger in this game then the last few or...at least I feel it is anyway. Legendary chars are generally a push over so far. The only ones that have given me a little trouble was a damn Gunner Lt that had a really nice assault rifle and armor. I used maybe ten stim packs. I just wish there was some in game skills that let you boost the armor bonuses for different types of armor. If you're doing that on very hard or survival difficulty then I'm impressed. It's going to take me a bit longer to get used to the combat system before I can manage that without taking at least one hit before the beast goes down. You'd be surprised how many situations can be solved through a combination of Psycho, Jet, and a Combat Shotgun, even on Survival. Jet, especially, is godly now.
  3. This may be my least modded bethesda game ever, that's just how good the vanilla game feels. I'll likely install a mod that increases enemy numbers ( excited to see what TonyCubed does for the Fallout4 version of Sands of Time ), maybe a new body and texture for the ladies, and a backpack mod. The majority of previous fallout mods were dedicated to improving combat, but it doesn't really feel needed anymore. I might remake my own Brutal Encumbrance mod.
  4. It would be neat, but I don't find it particularly important.
  5. Nope, cause they didn't. They messed up surprisingly little in Fallout 4. It's easy to fall into the trap of focusing on the similarities between the matching words, rather than looking for similarities between them and other words that can still be picked. That doesn't mean there's something wrong with the puzzle though.
  6. Check in Valentine's office. There should be two folders in there, and they each start a quest.
  7. It'd be neat if we had the option to block entire categories of mods as well. I wouldn't mind being able to block cheats, save files, and model/texture mods atm.
  8. I didn't realize that the Commonwealth shared an area code with Silent Hill o_O
  9. The what now? Is this a thing you could do in other bethesda games? It sounds very interesting. Sorry that I don't actually have an answer for you.
  10. Sounds great. Ten years from now after World War III we'll all be sitting around muttering about how 23chaos23 made war so much worse with his amazing suit of power armor that he initially didn't even think about using in actual combat :)
  11. Wasn't there a weapon with this name in Fallout 3 that was like... basically the equivelant of unleashing a second apocalypse when fired? I think lanching several mini-nukes was exactly what it did, so I think qwertyzeldar is probably right on the money. The tiny damage number is probably if you bonk something with the initial carrier projectile.
  12. Hover over the "Files" button, and select "Categories". That should make it easier for you to find specifically what you're looking for. "Front page fame" has always been short lived and modders generally depend on people knowing what they're looking for and doing a bit of digging to find their mods. Also, a few endorsements to a few cheap mods isn't a big deal; the best mods will get more in the long run. Though, it doesn't help that nowadays the nexus bugs you about endorsing every mod you've downloaded and I bet a lot of people just auto-endorse the entire list on the pop-up.
  13. So to the right of the chem merchent ( the one that is to the left of the outside area where you first meet the doctor ) is a door, with a sign that says something something surgery something over it. The doctor is in there after that quest.
  14. There's no tactical advantage to giving your armor sexy hips and big boobs, but I'm sure there will be plenty of people who big boobs, child bearing hips, slim waist, and their character's face and hair showing even if they're wearing a helmet on their armor that this will definitely be done, because for some of us if we can't see that there's a sexy girl body in there then the power armor isn't even worth using unless we're truly desperate for its protection. Heck, we'll probably even see power armor with a bare midriff. Oh who am I kidding, we're going to see "micro-bikini power armor". So there's some ideas for your discussion. These all look really cool. Need more bare midriffs though.
  15. So that'd be neat right? Just basically like a shed on a mammoth's back, and you can hit Activate on the mammoth to go inside of the shed on its back. Would be small but functional. Could even make the mammoth ride-able as well, the ultimate in convenience! The mammoth should probably run away from combat because you don't want it to get into fights and shake all your stuff inside the shed all over the place. Lemme know if you make this cause I'd love to see it!
  16. In response to post #28651299. #28652059, #28661619, #28707844, #28708009, #28711714, #28713009 are all replies on the same post. DorkDiva. You're not helping when you characterize it as "crying". Also, who are you to tell modders why they should mod.
  17. I have a feeling this entire situation is caused because some dope in a suit doesn't actually know what modding is.
  18. If a mod author has a mod that I use that has increased the quality of my gameplay experience enough that I want to give them money, I prefer that they have the donate button available for me to use so that they get all of my money instead of just a small fraction. Whether their mod is on the workshop or not does not change if I will donate to them or not. The quality of an author's mod is not diminished simply because they also have it on the workshop, and I hold no ill will towards any mod author who choses to host their mod on the workshop. For mod authors who only have their mod on the workshop, they will not be getting my money- not out of ill will, but for other reasons.
  19. ^ this. This is why I'm against this whole Steam Workshop thing. I'll happily give mod authors money (and I have, quite large amounts), but I won't support the steam workshop by giving them 75% of what the mod author deserves, especially when they're pulling these shenanigans. Donate to your favorite mod authors, show them why the Nexus is better.
  20. I'm worried that B could backfire. A lot of people already have those mods, and with no evidence that they belong to anyone else people might feel even more confident about uploading them to the steam workshop to make money off someone else's work. Even worse, the thief might then actually be able to pull a copyright claim if the original author reuploads to the Nexus saying "Hey, my version of the mod is the official one, on the steam workshop, with a price tag on it" - Valve is likely to back them in this case as well.
  21. I don't see how this list blames anyone for anything. The list is informative. Why would a mod author not want to be on the list? Are they trying to hide the fact that they put their mod up on the steam workshop and took it off the nexus? Why would they want to hide that? This list is basically free advertising for them; without it, many people might not have known where to go for the next update of any of these mods. Reading the OP it is clear that they are staying completely neutral on the issues involved - let's not try to paint it otherwise.
  22. Hasn't Valve said that it's pretty much okay if you just grab any mod that isn't yours and put it up for sale on thee Workshop, as long as that mod has thus far only been put up for free somewhere other than the Workshop? If this is the case, Nexus is going to start looking like a big unlocked treasure chest for a lot of people.
  23. Good. Part of the process of showing that we actually believe that this way is better is to show that it works. I've donated up to 50 dollars to individual mod authors when their mods showed the qualities of scope, quality, and support - and, most importantly, that they had actually enriched my experience with the game dramatically in a way that gave me many hours of fun. One such mod is Sands of Time: Ultimate Deadly Encounters. The author has been working on it for a little over three years, the mod will affect nearly every area in the game due to the fact that it dynamically adds more, and larger, encounters to the game. Several times the author has taken great pains, and put in a lot of grueling hours, to overhaul the way the guts of the mod work to make it more compatible, and increase it's performance. If you post an issue with the mod in the mod's comment sections, the author will likely respond that day, and will patiently try to help you solve your issue - this often happens several times per day. His mod has given me hundreds of hours of fun that the vanilla game never could have, so I sent the message that his thousands of hours were appreciated by dropping a big fat wad of cash in his lap. Best part? He got the entire wad, instead of just 25% of it. Another such mod is PerMa. T3nd0 has pretty much lost his sanity working on his perk overhaul, and to compensate him for his horribly broken mind I tossed him a fat wad of cash. Now, I don't expect everyone to donate 50 bucks a pop. In fact I don't expect anyone to donate anything - this isn't about demanding that people donate, or guilting them into donating. I also know that we don't all have heaps of disposable income - I sure don't. However, I am urging you... the next time you're going to buy a six pack of beer, or head to burger king for a burger, or grab a bag of doritos at the store, or are going to the cinema to watch an hour and a half movie for eighteen dollars - consider that you do have some disposable income, and you could use it to show some of these authors that their work is not only appreciated, but that it has value to you. Let's show all parties involved why our way is better.
  24. In response to post #24565684. #24565749, #24565819, #24565874, #24565944, #24566139, #24566154, #24566189, #24566214, #24566264, #24566339, #24566349, #24566439, #24566459, #24566504, #24566524, #24566569, #24566579, #24566644, #24566769, #24566779, #24566819, #24566909, #24566934, #24567024, #24567079, #24567154, #24567239, #24567264, #24567269, #24567344, #24567354, #24567469, #24567539, #24567564, #24567664, #24568174, #24568504, #24568524, #24569644, #24570059 are all replies on the same post. It amazes me that the focus here is on how greedy the modders are... rather than how modders are being tricked into letting themselves and their work be exploited for someone else's gain.
