  1. It's zhaetheria legend, costs $17.95 from rendo (so thats either a personal port or some russian/chinese mod site is passing it around for free like they do with other poser/daz stuff  )
  2. Qarl's underground mod and his later Ob stuff, skeleton K's, r18pn and pretty much all the people who create their own content, write great quests or knock something together which looks great. As for the ones that don't, i.e rippers and Daz porters, it's simply a case of tweaking a few verts here and there and a copy rig, chimps can do that :] If it looks good in game then that was all down to the person who's work they've knocked off ;)
  3. Can't access GECK atm, but since you might want to modify holdout weapons in future I can say roughly how you can do this yourself 1 : load up geck and select only new vegas master file 2 : search for the word - holdout in the box at top left, making sure you have highlighted *all in the column below, in the results to the right, a bunch of entries will appear, there'll be two FLST entries titled along the lines of NVholdout, open both of those by double clicking 3: navigate down to the weapons section (remember to scrub the word holdout from the search field), then drag the ranger sequoia from the weapon list into each of the holdout weapons FLST windows, ok and save, should be ready to go.
  4. It'll be much appreciated since it appears Max development has snuffed it entirely :( :( :(
  5. If it's what I think it is try using "split properties" found in Spells -> optimize.
  6. I think this is a good example of why this needs to be stated somewhere in the TOS/forum rules, or at the very least stickied. To answer your question, there's nothing wrong with making something that looks like it's from another game by your own hand and tools. Take Jojjo's Frostmourne sword for example. The second question is a yes, that's even stated in the mod uploading rules I believe. If you copy any material from another game and put it into an oblivion mod, that would be considered a "rip" or illegal material. Third question, I'm not so sure about. I don't see why it would be, but that game the free materials are made for might have explicit rules governing said free material. Don't be too sure about 'exact copying' either, sad though it may be, though generally, I think you're pretty much safe as long as the copy is for strictly non-commercial use - i.e you aren't going to try and make money with it. I think this is why you don't see Daz and poser models based exactly upon well known art and game chars on sale. If the rip is based upon free materials where the creator specified usage was ok then you're fine really, probably a case by case basis depending on their intentions. @kirinann : Well this is another reason why people shouldn't post those mods here, since people are getting lied to about who actually made it and end up breaking site rules. Also, the days of bad looking rips have been over for quite a while considering the specs of the games out now...(unless the person doing the rip is clueless and botches it) But again, this is why I think imageshare should be restricted to stuff that displays what nexus has available for download and derivatives of that - protects everybody, showcases Nexus content and doesn't advertise other sites.
  7. TBH, I think that anything that isn't available on the site or derived from something thats on the site (i.e personal edits etc) shouldn't be allowed on imageshare, since whats really the point then if half of the stuff you see on Nexus imageshare is stuff you can't actually get on Nexus? If people want to show off, let them do it on the sites they got the stuff from. I do think bans for images are overkill though, should just be a removal, or maybe a strike.
  8. I could maybe take a shot at the hair, I'd be more inclined to make it as a pre-colored, rigged wig though since I hate the hair settings in game.
  9. um how do you know it is illegal if you didnt actually open the files themselves to see? 0.o Against your 3rd point where you said if you can't provide the proof then how to you know it is illegal content >.< In response to your um yeah i would rather get one idiot gone than the whole site to have to go down because of one or two people that can't apparently read the rules or use common sense when posting something up And lastly i have two concerns with this statement I for one am planning on using Daz/Poser content they do make stuff that is free to use you know? And how is posting someone else's stuff from one game into another not taking money out of someones pocket? stealing is still stealing regardless of how little or insignificant the matter being stolen is Thanks for clarifying for me LH :) Any of the first points you're welcome to pm me about if you want further explanation on As for Daz/poser stuff, firstly I should have bolded the "expected to be paid for part" since I'm well aware they have a big freebie section - In any case, unless you know how to bake normal maps and optimize meshes I wouldn't bother, they just don't look good enough to justify the polycount and framerate hit most of the time  The time's better invested in learning to build, UV and texture your own stuff as I've found out. Game content vs commercial models and textures? Well, keep in mind that a lot of the oblivion ripped stuff is from games that are completely free to play, now obviously, one is expected to use the assets in said game only In most cases, but I just can't rationalise taking an asset from a game being comaparable to taking an entire product - If they've pirated the game to get the assets then sure, you have a point. but not everybody does go out an pirates a game just to grab a model or two.
  10. Well firstly it's going to happen on any site that relies upon user honesty and integrity. Secondly I don't always have the time involved hunting down scripts, extracting and opening models etc to compare. Thirdly I don't own some of the games involved so can't always offer concrete proof and lastly some of these files have been 'File of the month' and have spawned plenty of edits and retextures (probably innocent users who've been duped into thinking that it was created by the uploader in most cases I'm sure). So yeah, do I really want to rat on people who are far more valuable and popular on a site than I am anyway  ? The ones I will make extra effort on behalf of however are the scumbags who post daz/poser files that are expected to be paid for, since thats taking money straight out of people's wallets.
  11. From the commonality and the annoying promotion of the attitude that highly moddable games are, by virtue of that fact, incomplete and somehow second rate, then it really doesn't surprise me that we get so many roll in - afterall, they're not going to pay for some 'garbage' just because it's required hurdle for them to run sublime and godly user made addons  Additionally, like it or not, the site does technically have illegal content on it too, so while some may see a glowing community, like a nice park on a sunny day, nurturing creativity and goodwill where you would not expect so many pirates, more cynical gits like me also see kudos hunters stopping off in the Mos Eisley cantina for an hour to dabble in dodgy wares.
  12. Imo any quick endorse system should be scrapped, it's not quite as revolting as post reps *spits* but it's still lazy and ultimately meaningless. Praise and heaps of praise/statements of undying love should be directed to comments and bugs/problems should be addressed with a 'submit' feature - Though I realise this probably wouldn't play nice with the forum link as is.
  13. As far as I could see, the Havok behaviour thing was more of a workflow tool than anything else. I've still got a horrid feeling it's going to be a single minimally boned skeleton for all humanoids so we end up with exactly the same wooden hair and clothing we've has since Morrowind. Even their eye candy girl shot. All npc's in that shot had hair neck length or shorter from what I could see and a few of the armors I've seen have the same glued on look during footage. As for modding, Devs actually helped modders with figuring out the morrowind models I think and they did release an exporter eventually, problem was, Beth were very behind in their 3ds max versions, so it wasn't much use for a lot of people (I could be wrong here) Off topic, but look at this, the clothing, armour and equipment as the chars run, walk and ride (and yeah yeah ignore the bewbs  ):
  14. It's a poser rip. The users gallery is chock full of them, I can name most of them since I have the originals  @KJkirimi : If you didn't already get told, thats one of the female wizard outfits from Granado Espada, forget the exact name.
  15. @urbex : The game companies are paying salaries to their staff to produce these assets, or outsourcing at high cost to get them. I think it's fairly reasonable personally that they don't want something that cost them money being handed out for free. All in all, it's pretty generous of GSC and shouldn't just be treated with a sigh and "about effin time" kind of attitude. As for pursuing, make no mistake they do. A friend of mine has a relative in the legal profession who gets plenty of work from games companies sending cease and desists out to sites. @Zalpha Yea, the problem is though I'm willing to bet that the bulk of people who just want assets from a game will just get a pirate copy - Not something that game companies (or gamers if they care about the future of gaming) particularly want to see grow. I know this first hand from reverse engineering sites I'm a member on.. @Thandal Well the last one I sent in got ignored despite the fact that I was correct. Anyway, I've played the lone black sheep now - normal service and commentary can resume...
  16. And if users who do help bust some of the big time thieves go ignored they'll probably give up filing reports anyway.
  17. One of the slave scarves in game looks a little like a hijabthink you can find it in Cottonwood cove in a building(read into that what you will :P)
  18. This is a good feature. Thinking about Antistars last comment: perhaps during upload "modders" should have to explicitly state who made the resoureces used in their mod. Just stating, since it also seems rather bizarre that somebody could get banned for "stealing the work" of somebody who performed a sneaky outside resource port or game rip and got away with it.
  19. You probably knew by now, but it does indeed work on rigged meshes. Thanks very much for all your tutorials!
  20. Thanks for the article!. I'd been getting frustrated with getting decent ammounts of shine on some clothing items without them looking too much like polystyrene, it was the _em that was stumping me all along. Finally got some nice pvc and satin outfits looking good.
