Grey chrome textures bug?

It still might be packed into an .esp file. After checking the .ini files the only thing left to do is disabling .esp mods until she finds the culprit. -
Does anyone still play Skyrim?
BlackRoseOfThorns replied to spinspider's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
With new 64bit / DX11 Remastered version being released soon and all the possible customization due to 49.000+ mods on nexus, I suspect people will refuse to stop playing it even when TESVI gets published. Modders made some preaty amazing content and breakthrough mods withing last few year. Go and search titles like: Skyrim Ascendancy Engine framework (there is someone working on combat animation plugin for it) Relationship Dialogue Overhaul INIGO Interesting NPCs Inconsequential NPCs iNeed Frostfall Immersive Horses TK Dodge 2.0 Wildcat Audio Overhaul for Skyrim 2 Vivid Weathers Jaxonz Positioner all the animation packs for FNIS Enderal Just by looking at those few mods you can see the hidden potential for transforming your game. Not to mention all more personal mods like Druid spell packs, Undeath for Necromancers, Thief mods, quests, walking mushroom / lamp followers. There is no end to it. Even MxR is still releasing his Skyrim mods reviews at least every two weeks on his youtube channel. It's all about the mods really. I haven't played vanilla game since like end of 2012. I don't know where did you get that idea. This couldn't have been more wrong. Where have you been all this time? -

In your place I would wait till Nvidia announces gtx 1080ti. By then 1080 will drop on price and 1080ti probably will sell for around 770$. -
Grey chrome textures bug?
BlackRoseOfThorns replied to KentuckyFriedSpy's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
How about glass clutter? It might have been added to one of the settlement crafting mods by accident. It's also highly possible it might have been a gun mod. It would be easier for you to make new profile in Mod Organizer, start the game without mods and then activate textures/.esp in batches untill the bug appears. -
How is this guys game even alive
BlackRoseOfThorns replied to Luka25565's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
No it isn't xD Install optional 512p resolution textures and set your mingrasssize=70 or 100 in skyrim .inis (for Mod Organizer users those are located in Mod Organizer/Profiles folder). There is also optional .esp with no unique plants/region edits. My friend can run this mod with Enb, SFO trees and his gtx 650 ti @30fps xD -

BlackRoseOfThorns replied to Luka25565's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Np. You know you could just swap Verdant green grass types for yellow tundra/marsh ones in TES5Edit. Verdant is pretty realistic (softer than normal grass textures) and looks good with lesser density like mingrasssize=70. How green it is depends on the ENB really. Vivid Landscapes includes rock textures. The base mod shouldn't cause any issue, it's just a mesh and texture replacer. Did you install optional .esp Whiterun wall replacer? One of your mods might be conflicting with it. I was using SLO (including .esp) for some time now without any problems. -
Here is an updated part list: -Link- What you need to keep from your old PC: -Old fans (combine them with 2 Free Fractal 140mm fans) -Corsair PSU -1TB HDD -Windows license key -DVD-RW (optional) Return your GTX 960 and put those money towards new card. For 1070$ you get: higher tier graphic card (1070 is in top 3 Nvidia GPUs for gaming), high quality 250GB Samsung SSD, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a very nice PC case (looks simple, stylish, reduces noise and is optimal for all types of cooling systems).

Reducing rain/snow/fog frequency?
BlackRoseOfThorns replied to DiaborMagics's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Thanks, this should at least get me started. I think I will contact Sharpshooter8 to ask him if Sharpshooters Classic version does anything with weather, to be sure. I don't want to switch ENB though, would the Heavenly Weathers plugin work without its original ENB, but with sharpshooters, if indeed the vanilla weathers are the only ones in the game? Okay, thanks for explaining the process. Just for clarification: I back up Sharpshooters (done) and I do everything you said, with Sharpshooters still installed. I don't remove it? Because installing a new enb usually comes with its own enblocal.ini, its own d3d9 dll (from the top of my head its called d3d9), etc. Should I copy and replace VW's things into my Skyrim folder? Because you said everything except the esp, etc You just want the Weather mod + Enb Weather list on top of ohter Enb preset. Enbseries 0.250+ with Enb helper (for editing weathers) should work. -
Ok, I will try to explain some basic stuff and compare products in this post, so it will be easier for you to get the hang of it. DaddyDirection's build is solid. However since you will keep some parts from your old PC, you will be able to save a bit and make few better upgrades. ~CPU~ I was also going to recommend i5-6600k. The price dropped since it was released and the performance per $ ratio is decent. It's only 10$ more expensive than non K version. All CPU models with K letter following the name can be overclocked (OC) and hold the value for much longer time than their basic non OC versions. It's important to pick the right CPU, because each CPU series requires different motherboard and you will be stuck with the combo for a long time. i5-6600k needs LGA 1151 socket on the motherboard to slot it. ~Motherboar (Mobo) and RAM~ For overclockable LGA 1151 CPU you need decent Z170 type motherboard. You can find the motherboard type in the Specifications section on sites like Newegg. This type of motherboard also allows you to install DDR4 RAM with higher frequencies/speed through a Bios tweak called XMP profile. It's as simple as selecting your RAM type in option menu (takes about 30sec to do it). It's best to stick to well known RAM brands, which are on your motherboards compability list. 2133mhz DDR4 RAM doesn't need XMP tweak on Z170 motherboards. Anything higher than that will run at 2133 untill you configure XMP. Also remember that new Z170 motherboards and i5-6600k CPU works only with new DDR 4 memory, so don't buy old DDR 3 by mistake. ~Storage Drive~ You already have 1TB HDD for storage. This leaves some money that can be spent on much faster SSD. It's crucial for games with long loading times like modded Skyrim. As a bonus your Windows and all other programs installed on it will boot/start two times faster. 250GB SSD costs up to 100$. ~DVD Drive~ Nowadays you don't really need it. You can download everything you need from the internet and save it on usb flash drive. Even Windows OS has this option. I have one external Blue-Ray drive, which I have used maybe once in last 2.5 years. Unless you have bunch of DVDs you are still using, I wouldn't bother with it. You can keep the old Dell drive, if you really want to. ~PSU~ I would keep your Corsair PSU for now. It's a cheap model, not the greatest quality, but there isn't anything alarming about it. Wait till some nice PSU goes on 33%+ sale. ~GPU~ Gtx 1060 is your bang for buck card. However Gtx 1070 will last you for longer time with it's +40% performance. This will mean that a game that runs @43fps with Gtx 1060, will run @60fps with Gtx 1070 as long as your cpu is fast enough. I'm not sure if you are familiar with a term like "bottlenecking". It means that one part in your system is holding back the whole machine. A poor CPU will hold back good GPU, because it has to handle all the data. The higher the FPS the more work for CPU. Besides that there are a lot more task the CPU has to do when running the game. If you pick weak CPU your future GPU upgrades might be problematic. -Evga GPU brand has the best warranty. They accept all RMA (Return merchandise authorization) -that weren't users fault- without any problems. With other brands you might be forced to work it out with their customer service. Their cards are tiny bit more expensive than competitors. -ASUS is somewhere in the middle ground when it comes to product quality and RMA, it depends on specific item (their ROG monitors are problematic). -MSI has a very good quality past last few years, but it's better to handle their RMAs through the shop where you bought the card than to send it to the main company. -Gigabyte tries to push out high spec cards at low price, but it tends to lead to problems like a coil whine sound comming from the GPU. It might happend to any brand, though it's more common with certain Gigabyte models. Also there are many who dislike their RMA and customer service. All the brands offer 2-3 tiers of the same card model. Higher priced models will usually have different cooling solutions and be overclocked (OC -overclocked / SC - superclocked). Sometimes you will find same GPU model but with different GDDR5 memory amount. For example there is 3GB and 5GB Gtx 1060 version. The most quiet GPUs: ASUS Strix (Gtx 1070 link) MSI Gaming (Gtx 1070 link) The fans won't start untill the card reaches 60 degrees. It can be changed with included fan profile tool/program. The performance is almost exactly the same. ~PC Case~ Why I would go with Fractal Design S Mid Tower instead cheaper Corsair Mid Tower. -Corsair comes only with 1x 120mm fan and you have to buy second yourself. Corsair 50.00$ case + ~13.00$ for second fan = 63.00$ (without any Promo) vs Fractal with 2 bigger fans for 80$ 120mm fans are louder than 140mm ones (requires higher speed to push out the same amount of air). -Padding inside the case for noise reduction. -You can fit more fans inside. Has 7x 140mm fan slots, 1x 140/120mm bottom slot + 1x 140mm with the windowless model. -Dust filter on the bottom is longer, allowing you installing 140/120mm fan right before small PSU box. Helps a ton with cooling. -Frontal dust filter is easier to clean. -2x 3.0 USB or the front vs Corsair 1x 2.0(slow) + 1x 3.0 Both cases are good so decide which one has better value for you. ~Windows OS~ Windows 7 is a lot better for modding old DirectX9 games. Win8/12 currently has a bug limiting old DX9 games to 4GB VRAM. If you have Win7 license key, keep it. ~Skyrim PC build TIPS~ When you go to other sites for help with your first real PC, you will get confornted with common reasoning "If you play at 1920x1080p resolution, you don't need powerful machine". It is true for optimized games. In other titles you don't have true open world. Everything is created in rooms or small locations, where developers can control how many objects are displayed on your screen, reducing GPU/CPU stress. With games like Witcher 3 and especially modded Skyrim/Fallout you will get huge FPS dips in some areas. Unfortunately you have to compensate for it with hardware that can run 1440p or lower game details and limit mod quality/amount severly. Bethesda games require very strong CPUs, due to their engine design (shadows are CPU bound). While weaker CPU could get you by with other games, it will be a limiting factor for Skyrim. Even my i7 quad @4.5GHZ has problems with modded 64bit Fallout 4 and I had to install mod controlling shadow distance based on FPS. Mods adding more objects, NPCs, script will slow down your game, introducing input and AI lag, if the CPU gets overhelmed. There is no hardware overkill when it comes to Bethesda's games. Skyrim with ENB runs better on Quad Core (4 physical core) CPUs.

Are you keeping any parts (1T HDD, Optic Drive, Corsair 600W PSU) or Windows OS from the Dell PC or are you selling it? Will you build the computer this time or do you need prebuild config? Maybe you have a friend who can put together from parts? You would save a lot of money by doing this yourself and to be honest newegg prebuild PCs specs aren't that great. Is it 1k USD or EU? Maybe at some point you could sell the GTX 960 for 90 euro and upgrade to a better model. We can get you covered with decent pc build, if you give us a bit of information. PS: Do you prefer GPU with better warranty or lower noise level when not running demanding games? Edit: If you have your money ready before Black Friday in November, you might be able to get some stuff at serious discount.

It's too late. This Dell thing is 1.5 year old. The easiest way out of this situation without breaking the bank this year is to start slowly pushing out the bad parts. Till the end of the year she should get MID/FULL ATX case with MINI ATX support/screw holes (this Inspiron thing was suppose to run on Intel HD cpu discrete graphics and be used for Excell calculations or typing in Wordpad, so they put everything in a can...). Next year she should save up for motherboard, CPU and SSD drive big enough for system and Skyrim. Her old GTX 960 will get her by till then. Right now the GPU prices are not so good for those who are not forced to replace their cards this intant. New gpu models prices are inflated and there's no real price cut on old models untill Nvidia announces Gtx 1080ti. The 960 GPU is underperforming, because of the: -Mini ATX PC Case with 0 airflow -Cheap CPU with super bad cooler (no airflow, high temps) Pics straight from the horror stories: In some cases they are idiots, who didn't learn anything about computer parts outside of their shop catalogue. Believe me, there is nothing more annoying then going to the shop asking for specific product and get greeted with blank stares, because the staff has no idea what you are talking about. People on the Tech sites have 50 times better hardware and software education than salesmen.

It's not the video quality that doesn't look great, it's the lightning, textures quality and flora mods. Yeah, but that comes from someone who has 1200 file entries in Mod Organizer... I think I've tested every single decent texture mod out there. You want a quick fix? Good ENB and weather mod choice: LODs >> DynDOLOD -
Reducing rain/snow/fog frequency?
BlackRoseOfThorns replied to DiaborMagics's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
ENBs which have unique settings for each weather, won't recognize new weathers and will produce weird colors. On some occasions the ENB will be bundled with it's own weather.esp - also incompatible with other weather mods. I believe Heavenly Weather has the same entries as Vivid Weathers and cannot be used as standalone module. How to do DIY FIX / MERGE: Make a copy of your current Enb and tweaks, so you can revert changes in case you didn't like the outcome. install VW (everything except patches and main .esp) + HW from NLVA Enb site. Then copy weather list from NLVA Enb into your enbseries folder. This worked for me for couple of Enbs. Sometimes it requires adjusting ambient lightning level, to make it look proper. Just remember that VW adds new weathers with more colorful lightning (sunrises/sunsets) and might make your game look totaly different. PS: Weather list from Rudy ENB NLVA will also work and might be closer to sharpshooters style. -

BlackRoseOfThorns replied to DiaborMagics's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
NLVA Enb for Vivid Weathers has a Heavenly Weathers plugin. I use it together with Rudy Enb NLVA and Wonders of Weather. If you want something more simple, you have to find a mod that edits vanilla types of weathers in each region. It will be compatible with Enbs designed for vanilla weathers. You might be able to figure out how to do this kind of mod yourself by looking up Expanded Skyrim Weather in CK or TES5Edit. Here's Skyrim Weather ID list: -Link- -

He would be paying at least 20 more bucks for 850W model, which he doesn't need for his configuration. Besides Newegg is out of the question unless there would be a big discount (Black Friday for example). He will be charged with 15% tax and around 60$ for shipping to New Zealand. The models he can get from local shops are 750 G2 (650W G2 is not sold there) and RM650x which are roughly the same price (depending on the store). -
Solution no.1: Buy a real PC CASE and move everything from one case to the other yourself. It's fairly easy, will just take time to do it first time around, since you will have watch some youtube guides. You will get a lot better performance out of your gpu/cpu and it will buy you some time to think what to do next. Adjusting your gpu choice and size to your case is silly, unless you are building a movable mini atx for LOL (not very demanding) game nights at your friends place. Buying small card won't make the build you have right now any better and in a year you will be getting mad at yourself again, because you wasted money on subpar parts. Buy a case you're gonna use for next 10 years. ATX standards won't change anytime soon. Something like this >> Fractal Design or windowless model with a slot for additional fan Fractal Design Define S There are also cheaper options, so take your time to think about this. Though this one is a good deal. The bottom is cut out and has a dust filter and it comes with two low noise 140mm fans for free. The only problem you might encounter is from Dell/Store side, if they have issue with you changing the case while they are still obligated to do free technical service within warrantee period. Go ask them. Solution no.2: Sell your whole rig or most of it. It's very weak and the only parts which are usable are drives and maybe the RAM, if you buy old DDR3 compatible motherboard. Even the 300W PSU is not enough for new graphics card. Keep your gtx 960 for now. Don't bother. People already advised case alteration (in detail) in his other thread and nothing came out of it.

RaceMenu + ShowRaceMenu Alternative will let you access character creation menu and adjust the height. If you have installed Enhanced Character Edit it should have the option.

It seems the local stores in New Zealand add tax and international shipping cost to their final price, which suxs. I recommend Gtx 1060 with 6GB of VRAM and dual fans. Are you ok with ordering from Techworld? They seem to have good customer rating. I'm just not sure if they handle warranties or send clients straight to manufacturers. Easy to reach even if using 1/2k textures......i know from exp. We're talking total memory not VRAM. I actually still have good amount of wiggle room VRAM wise but the memory gets dangerously close to the limit. With the FULL SRLE guide installed i did the flying around skyrim test using SPM and total memory peaked at 3.7 and VRAM peaked around 3.3 if i remember correctly. Used almost all 1k textures. NO CTD in 10 minutes of flying around but shows how easy it is to reach that memory limitation. GPU depends on budget and other system specs. I would say get something thats equivalent or better than a gtx 970. 970 or equivalent will allow you to mod skyrim to its fullest (barring memory limitations) and also let you play the newest titles on near max settings at 1080p. For future proofing something with 4gb or more of VRAM is ideal. 1080p Benchmark: -

Gtx 1070 already has models with custom PCBs. MSI GTX 1070 Gaming Z 8GB boost clock goes up to 1860 MHz as it's slightly overclocked and costs 460$. Non OC X version is a bit cheaper, 450$. Evga FTW is also a 460$ model. EVGA AXC cooler SC is on the cheaper side and you can get it for 430$ on Newegg (I believe this one has normal PCB). The gtx 970 will stay at low price due to the mixed memory used for this model (3.5GB +500mb VRAM). 1070 is a better future-proof purchase in my opinion. I'm curious why you haven't menrioned RX 480, as it performs same or better than R9 390 and is below 300$ mark. Did it had any problems I'm not aware of? Personally I would go with AMD only, if I was tight on budget or planned on purchasing Freesync monitor. Both RX 480 and R9 390 are gtx 1060 6GB equivalents, the price is almost identical. 1060 wins when it comes to temperatrures. Right now some of the models might be affected by inflation, but I think MSI 1060 6GB is fairly decent (290$). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzyUVQHzDwk Custom gtx 1070 draws around 200W. Getting 600-650W unit would be a good idea, if he plans on changing his motherboard and cpu in next 5 years for an overclockable model. With PSU warraty lasting from 5-10 years it'a a long term investition after all. BlackRoseOfThorns is correct. As we were worried, you do indeed have a cheap PSU. So, yes, you should definitely get a new PSU immediately. You are taking a chance every time you use your PC with that PSU. Sorry to sound like an alarmist, but it's quite true. I agree that this one has to go. There is no point risking 900-1000$ PC rig with a part that can be easily replaced for 60-100$. I wouldn't use it even for budget build, if you really value your money.
