  1. I'd recommend checking in your mod manager's folders. There's probly an override in there, that the manager is using for your game settings.
  2. Ouch :( The message states that your D: drive is not accessible. So the drive that your files are on is not working :( Or windows cannot read/write to it. :( There's a few things that could be the cause, but it would help us out, to know what kind of drive it is, and whether it's an internal or external drive.
  3. Trust me, even we have to go onto the internet to see what those crash log codes mean. ;) Another problem with the game crash log, is that they're often incomplete. As soon as the game crashes, so does the logger. :wallbash:
  4. Absolut: You are pretty much spot on, except that your figures are ever-so-slightly off. By one. The hard limit is 255 not 256. The main Fallout4.esm counts against the hard limit, making available (regular) mod slots 254. Those are then also automatically counted against by any DLC the player has.
  5. Dj - well my first thought, was that you might be playing a race mod that allows you to play ghouls, and that was messing things up. But you didn't mention anything like that. I'd think about redownloading CBBE and then manually putting the texture files into the data folder. That's about the only way that I've gotten it to work whenever I've tried something out and it ended up causing problems for the CBBE textures. Also... since you brought it up... the HD Texture pack DLC is a bad idea. Like all the other textures that Beth put into this game, those textures are horribly optimized for PC gaming. There are others that are much better here on the nexus. And while it's not really HD, I like these, myself. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1204
  6. Ok. That's wierd. The code box ended up at the very bottom of my post.
  7. Heyas jacob! Not a problem, glad to try to help you out with this! :) Hahaha I don't mind at all, as long as it's something that I can answer ;) Otherwise, I hope you don't mind getting "ummm... I dunno  "  If you had been running the Borealis mod fine before, I would think that it would be more likely that you've installed something new that is conflicting with it. I don't know if you are using a mod manager or not, or if so, if your manager shows you any kind of dates on files that were installed. But, you could definitely go in, DEactivate the borealis mod, and test out on a new character, to see if the problem is still there. If the problem isn't there in your test, you can then REactivate it, move it down to the bottom of your load order, (Make note of where it's currently at tho first! You may wanna move it back again) and try on the test char again to see if the LOD problem is still there. Moving it to the bottom "may" resolve the conflict if there is one. But it will then override the mod that it was conflicting with.... Insignificant Object remover I don't think would be a problem. I have used it for years. It also does not affect the textures of buildings. It only affects small objects strewn about the ground. I've been meaning to install the Dynamic Shadows mod, the next time that I play. I dunno if it would affect LOD or not, but my understanding is that it gives you the option to set a specific target framerate. If your framerate drops below the target level, it goes in and resets the settings for the shadows GFX to a lower level, until your FPS gets back to target level. For checking your .ini files.... once you've got them open in notepad, or whatever editor that you're using, you can just press and hold the CTRL key, and then tap the F key. That'll open a search box. Just type in LOD into the box, and press enter. That will autosearch for references to the LOD settings. ;) However. Here comes that "I dunno". WHAT the actual settings ARE, and which way that you would need to adjust them.... That... I dunno :( :( Mine are set like this. fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=3500.0000 fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=2000.0000 fMeshLODFadePercentDefault=1.2000 fDecalLOD0=800.0000 [LOD] fLODFadeOutMultObjects=4.5000 fLODFadeOutMultItems=2.5000
  8. Heh, our brains are bouncing off of each other again, Blinx! I was putting together the steps to teach how to do exactly what you posted. All moral/spiritual arguments aside (and yes, I do understand where you are coming from STG...there was an old console game where the player captured, bottled and then... ate... souls... for healing. I didn't find that suitable either.) That said, what you're asking for, is really easy for you to make. First thing you will need to do, is download and install F4Edit. AKA XEdit. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737 This is similar to the creation kit, the modding tool for Fallout 4, but simpler and easier to use. Now before I go any further, please note: I do not know absolutely anything about Horizon. Therefor I do not know anything about compatibility with it. Once you have Xedit installed, open up JUST the Fallout4.esm file, and for good measure teh Horizon file. So you will want to UNcheck all the boxes in the list that comes up, EXCEPT for those two. It will take a bit of time for Xedit to open the files. Especially the Fallout4.esm file. How long, depends on your computer. But be patient, it shouldn't take more than a minute or so. Since you are looking for compatibility, on the left side pane, click the + next to the Horizon file, to expand it's tree. If you see an entry for Constructible, we could be in luck. Click the + next to it, and start scrolling through the list for co_chem_stimpack RIGHT CLICK on it to bring up the Right Click Menu. In the RCM, you will want to choose Copy As Override Into Once you have done that xedit will present you with options for what kind of file. Pick .esp file, and then it will ask you to name the file. Ok, now you will have a new record at the very bottom of the left pane, which is the new file that you created. Click the + next to it to expand it's tree, find Constructible, and then the record for the over-write of the stimpack's recipe that you just made. Click on it with the left mouse button, and that will open it's file contents up in the right side panel. The area of interest to you, is the section that I highlighted with Yellow. I placed an arrow, to designate the bloodpack that you are wanting to change. RIGHT CLICK on the name of the bloodpack. Xedit will make you wait a couple of seconds, and then ask you if you want to make changes. Click Yes. The name will now turn into a drop box, with an arrow at the right of it. Click on the arrow, and you can choose any alternate substance that you want to, to replace it. OR You can RIGHT CLICK DIRECTLY ABOVE where it says bloodpack, and choose DELETE or REMOVE. (pretty sure it's Delete). Which will then in turn, just completely remove that area for the required componant. IF the construcible object is NOT listed in the horizon file, then you will have to do this through the Fallout4.esm file. Exact same process, but opening a different file instead of the one that I was just giving directions for. Once you have made the edits that you want to make, have double checked them to make sure you're good with that, you want to save the file. To do this, you simply press and hold down the CTRL key (located very bottom row, very left corner of your keyboard) and then tap the S key. That is the keyboard shortcut for File>Save. Take note tho again, that if you need to do this via the Fallout4.esm file, I do not know what else that you need to do to make this Horizon compatible. Also note, that this change might not take effect on any Stimpacks that you already have in your game, if you have a mod that lets you scrap them. On any of your CURRENT characters. New chars that don't have the old componants written into their save game files will be fine. It should however, fully take effect for when you are trying to make them at the chem bench. Unless of course, additional steps are required for the Horizon patch. Good luck, and happy gaming.
  9. The map should show you if the location is cleared, or not. It should say [Cleared] under the locaton's name. But faust is correct, some locations do have recurring spawn.
  10. The changes in the textures has to do with LOD. Or Level of Detail. What you're seeing is when the game takes too long to convert from the low graphics textures used when you see them at a distance, to the normal textures used when you see them up closer. First question is whether or not you have a mod that affects these textures, in a way to optimize, enhance, replace, or assist game performance. Second thing to check would be your game thru the game itself. Fallout4 Launcher.exe Third would be to check all of your .ini files for references to LOD. If everything there checks out, Fourth would be to run a diagnostic on your video card.
  11. I actually like that idea. Would also be cool to have all the left over drug injectors and inhalers that we could sell or scrap as well.
  12. Hiyas Aiya. Ok thank you for letting me give you a nickname. My dyslexia super appreciates it! :D Also, thanks much for being understanding and patient about what to change in that ini file about the intros  I'm gonna go ahead and post the links to the memory upgrades first. I'm on MY 8gb machine, and she wants me to close those tabs, hahahaha Cheapest, and most 100% compatible. https://www.amazon.com/Team-PC4-19200-2400MHz-Laptop-TED416G2400C16DC-S01/dp/B01BU77LQW/ref=sr_1_16?crid=2YE35VRPN4AG3&keywords=ddr4-2400%2Bcl%2B17%2Bnon-ecc%2Budimm%2B288-pin%2Bpc4-19200%2B16gb&qid=1672698787&sprefix=ddr4-2400%2Bcl%2B17%2Bnon-ecc%2Budimm%2B288-pin%2Bpc4-19200%2B16gb%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-16&th=1 next up. But it runs slightly faster than what your machine does. So it would still run at 2400 megahertz. IE faster ram, but your machine can't take full advantage of that speed, so not really worth the extra $$ https://www.amazon.com/Patriot-Signature-PC4-21300-Heatshield-PSP416G2666KH1/dp/B07Q2BDXBG/ref=sr_1_53?crid=2YE35VRPN4AG3&keywords=ddr4-2400+cl+17+non-ecc+udimm+288-pin+pc4-19200+16gb&qid=1672698970&sprefix=ddr4-2400+cl+17+non-ecc+udimm+288-pin+pc4-19200+16gb%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-53 I like this brand. I've used their laptop memory in a couple of my machines. A tad bit more expensive than the first link I gave. But I can give a personal recommendation on the brand. It is also running at the same clock speed as what your factory memory does. https://www.amazon.com/Tech-2400Mhz-PC4-19200-Computer-AT8G2D4D2400NS8N12V/dp/B07KGM2QKV/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2YE35VRPN4AG3&keywords=ddr4-2400%2Bcl%2B17%2Bnon-ecc%2Budimm%2B288-pin%2Bpc4-19200%2B16gb&qid=1672698787&sprefix=ddr4-2400%2Bcl%2B17%2Bnon-ecc%2Budimm%2B288-pin%2Bpc4-19200%2B16gb%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-4&th=1 If you want to do more searching on your own, these are the parameters that you need to look for, for compatibility. DDR4-2400 UDIMM 288-pin Interestingly enough, your motherboard has a couple of quirks. She tops out at 16gb of ram. So any more than that would not be spending your money wisely. Her memory slots also top out at 8gb each. So buying just a single 16 gb stick of ram, would be a waste of precious cash. It wouldn't work. (I personally also do NOT recommend only running off a single stick of memory. Sometimes a stick goes bad. So there is a second one that will keep the machine running. Rather than trying to start it up, have a black screen, and having her scream loud beeping noises at you! (Also called Beep Codes) Another word of advice, after checking your system specs. Your primary SSD (solid state drive) is actually kind of small. Not a lot of space on it, after windows, and all the other junkware that HP installs. And the leftover space will get filled up over time with system files, temp files, and other junk from normal usage. But. On the big plus side, they gave you a very nice, big secondary HDD (Hard disk drive). So when you are installing stuff onto the machine, make sure to install it to the secondary drive  Files that you save, I'd also recommend saving to the secondary drive. I also recommend a program called CCleaner. Use that periodically to get rid of the junk files that will start to build up on the primary drive. "Stairway to Heaven"??? Oh gawd! That's... CHEEEEE-ZZZZY!! HAHAHAHA! That really doesn't bode well for me, wanting to watch the TV series!   As for the Graphic Novel. https://www.amazon.com/Crow-James-OBarr/dp/1501176994 Tho I dunno what the differences are, between the special edition, and the normal one. If you are accustomed to doing the modding manually, I prefer to use a program called Q-Dir. http://q-dir.com It's a windows explorer alternative. What I like about it, is that it can open 4 different folders all at the same time. Side by side, on top and bottom. Basically splits the screen into 4 different windows. It makes all those copy and paste or drag and drop operations VERY much faster and easier. And if you have a still fully functional version of NMM, then by all means... keep using it! Stick with what you know! Ok, I'll start looking up some of the mods that I'm using, for helping out about the graphics. Probly get that going tomorrow. Hah. I dunno which of these categories you'd put some of them into. Like for instance the mod that turns Dogmeat into a pink flamingo......
  13. Thanks for the input Vibes! Yeah, its a mod that I've been wanting to try out for quite a while. It's good to hear what other players think of it! [Edit] I do want to mention tho, that this effect works for vanilla weapons. Mod added weapons have to be edited with certain keywords to make the effect take place. The editing itself isn't that hard. Niero included what needs to be added/removed in the mod description. If you're playing with mod guns, I highly recommend copying that text, and pasting it into a text file on your computer. Editing the mod weapon files, does however also mean that the crit gore overhaul has to load BEFORE your weapon mods in your load order. So placing it ahead of them, as you install the mod, would do very well in foresight ;)
  14. It will most definitely be interesting to see what kind of changes (if any) happen around Bethesda, now that they are under the M$ umbrella.
  15. Oh. Ummmm. That makes things complicated. Yeah, that's gotta be a mod conflict. You will probly want to post your load order, so we can see if we can spot what might be some suspects.
  16. Heyas As. :) If you are talking about the mod that makes it so that it turns the ash/goo piles into burnt skeletons, ur talking about the crit gore overhaul. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23780 I hope that's the one that you're looking for. It's about the only one that I know of that changes the effects on energy weaps.
  17. Aiya (can I call you that? It's a lot easier on my dyslexia  ) I will get back to you tomorrow (probly in the evening) about what to change in the .ini settings for the intros. I really do apologize. I moved from state to state this morning. And I had to fight with a bunch of settings for about 2 hours this evening just to get my machine to connect to the internet here at the hotel. Kinda brain fried! Yes, movies were really good. Tho I didn't check out the TV show. I didn't know that there was one! As for the comic. I didn't read any of them for the sequels, but the graphic novel that started it all out, was absolutely amazing! Nowhere near as cheesy as some of the characters in the movie. And definitely went into a lot more detail about the mental/emotional ordeal that he was going through. I felt like Sarah (while written well in the first movie) was portrayed a bit better, and the cop too, in the graphic novel. If you plan to buy yourself another present, the graphic novel is high on my recommendation list! The actual install for RAM is actually really simple. It's just a little board, held in by a couple of plastic clips. Just open the clips, take the old board out, put the new one in, and push the clips back in. Repeat for the second one. In a PC, the worst part of it is keeping the wires out of the way, and getting Them (the wires) back into the machine to close it up. But if you have friends or fam that is familiar with it, they should be able to have it done in 10 minutes or less. (depending on how hard the PC is to get open and wrapped back up again). While I don't wanna put words in his mouth or volunteer him for anything... HY or I could look up what kind of RAM your machine takes, and look up some examples. We know that it's a HP. We'd need to know which model, and then which number. For example, "HP Pavilllion 1234". Pavillion is one of their popular series, so I used that as an example. When we know what model you have, we can look up what kind of RAM it takes. I'm really glad to hear that you got some gaming time in! That is great! Especially since that mission with Danse can be kind of hard on a graphics card. There's a lot of mobiles active in that mission. There's also a lot of lighting and other visual effects going on there in Arkjet. Tho... warning. Downtown Boston is gonna be the true test. That area is a real strain. It gets laggy even on premium video cards  @ HY- a 6 gb card would most definitely help her out. But from the sounds of it, her budget is pretty tight. I definitely know where you're coming from, and I do agree with ya, bro. Tho what with her budget, and the fact that there's so many used and abused vid cards in the market right now, I kinda think she needs an experienced buyer to work with her on that. Other than some of the higher drain areas like DTB, the ini files that I uploaded, along with some mods to get rid of the fog, particle effects, and a few others that I can't remember RN... I've got the game running really good on the Sager laptop that a buddy gave me. Which is really, really surprising, that 6 year old machine only has a 1/2 gig vid chip in it! @ Aiya- A PC is always a really good present to give to yourself, regardless of what the intended uses are. And to be honest, IMO the most important part of it, is the motherboard and the CPU. Which, you're pretty good with what you got! The rest, is like modding guns and armor in game. You can upgrade it a little bit at a time. When you have the resources. I think that I've seen the mod that you're talking about, with the achievements. I haven't really checked into it. Tho read thru the comments to see if it works, or causes any problems  Just did some fast checking. This seems to be the best of them. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15317 It does require f4se, which doesn't count as a mod, as far as the game is concerned. There's a link to it in the mod page. It does also require this one, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15639?tab=posts that one, from reading about it seems a bit complicated. Myself, I'd probly just download a savegame that has all the achievements. But... I've played this game waaaaay too much, LOL. Modding the game. Well, I myself really prefer doing it manually. Been doing it for as long as I've been modding, or playing with mods, so that's just what I'm used to. But using a mod manager makes the whole process a lot more easy. As well as gives you additional options, which vary depending on the manager. I personally used to use an older version of NMM, just for FOMOD installers. But its no longer nexus compatible. They changed some of the things about the site, so while it will still install mods, it won't DL from the site anymore or reference the mod pages to see if there's updates to the mods I have installed. But Vortex and MO2 are both good managers. HAHAHA Yes, mods for a LOT of things that we don't! (Need)
  18. And there is the problem.... Beth games REALLY don't like integrated video..... Proc is good, just need a real video card. I'm hoping to find a fix that doesn't require me replacing pc parts. I don't have the money right now. :/ Ok sorry to double post, I didn't see this before I wrote. Yeah, when it comes to video cards, that really is not cheap. :( But, that Ram usage is severe. Your card is eating a lot of memory, to run the game. Have you installed the .ini settings that I gave you? I know that you'd said that you wanted to go thru the game without mods, to get the accomplishments. But. I very strongly recommend that you try this out. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1204 It's only an archive file. And I don't think that it will count as a modded game as far as accomplishments. What this mod does is changes the textures. To ones that are much more optimized for gaming, than the poor excuse that Bethesda put into the game. The ini file that I gave for you, is already prepared to have mods like this. Trying to think of ways to get your memory usage down.
  19. Heyas Aiyatani. Nah it's a good system. It may need a bit of a boost is all. Not saying that it will, just that it might. But yeah, you want to watch your task manager to see how things go. And don't feel bad. I have a light gaming system. I bought it as a Christmas present for myself. And it only came with 8 gigs of ram too! ;) Ram is one of those things that they skimp on, to help keep the cost down. And considering that for a pretty easy upgrade, it's only about 30-40 dollars at most, it definitely helps. But yeah, just keep an eye on things for now, and we will see how things go. And take care of your power management settings. ;) HA! Yes there is a mod for everything! Or... almost everything :D OBTW - From your quote. That was a really good movie. Even better as a comic, but a really good movie
  20. Hullo! HA! Yeah, settlers, and brahmin. "Roof brahmin"! I've had them spawn stuck in the bathrooms of some of the houses too! That one can happen with the PC too. Tho, as we have a habit of saying... There's a Mod for that! :D I'd recommend turning power saving off. As it's cutting power to some of your processes. It can also affect your wifi as well. https://www.lifewire.com/turn-off-power-saving-mode-4706502 This might be a big help with whats going on with your crashes. Mkay. The available ram that your computer has, might be an issue. Are you running windows 10 or did it come with 11? One thing that I'd recommend doing, is watching Task manager (Ctrl + alt + delete keys, all at the same time), then choose task manager. There should be a link at the bottom that says More Options. Clicking on that, will show you what your RAM usage is. I'd recommend monitoring that. Especially during game play. If you are hitting more than 85% during game play... You're going to have to come to a choice. A) You can eliminate some of the software running in the background to try to reduce the demand on resources. Again, through task manager. Or via uninstall if you see some listed there, that you know that you don't want. B) You may need to end up purchasing a RAM upgrade for your machine. This is not very expensive for a pc. With only 8gb of RAM in your machine, it really limits how much your machine can do. Especially when it is sharing the RAM with your video card. Myself, I recommend a bare minimum of 16gb. Whether you want to upgrade past that tho depends on how much the motherboard in your machine will support. However, that so far is not a "MUST" have, as far as we know. Monitor your Memory usage, especially while having the game running. HAHA! Yeah, my ideal pc would be a shotgun. Two motherboards, 2 sets of processors, 4 video cards.... Ok ok, back to reality now, wolf! :D Someday tho... ;)
  21. Hiyas Linity! Ok the first thing that I would check in game, is to see if they have power or if they need power. The second thing that I would check, is to go into workshop mode, and see if they are damaged and in need of repairs.
  22. Heyas Aiyatani. Yep I got seriously hooked, when I played this game on my friend's PS4. I'll admit tho that I haven't run into some of the bugginess that I was seeing in the game, playing on console tho. Some of it was pretty funny, and kinda miss it! :D The BIG key thing to remember, once you start playing with Mods. As Wolfgang says: "Moderation". And do NOT test mods out on your current playthrough. Have a test character set up for testing mods on. Because sometimes adding/removing mods can mess up your savegames. ;) But... we need to get you to where you can PLAY first! :( Ok. So first off, is this a PC or Laptop? And how much memory (RAM) is in the system? One of the things with your video card, is that it shares memory from your computer. Meaning that it doesn't have any of it's own. As it would if it had what's called a "dedicated" video card. One of the things that I am concerned about, is that your system may not have enough memory to feed the card while this game is running. Another thing to look at would be your power saving mode. If this is a PC, you can just turn it completely off. If this is a lappy, well... we will have to take a look. And trust, I understand. When it comes to buying PCs, dey ain't cheap! Not all of us have 800-1200 for an entry level gaming machine!
  23. Ok. Here is the files that I have on the laptop with the game installed on it. You will need a program that can handle .zip files. If you already have a program that can handle this, you can ignore the following line. I myself prefer Peazip, it's a good, free program that handles the popular formats for files, and doesn't include advertisements or any other software. www.peazip.com Ok here is a link to the files that I uploaded. https://www.mediafire.com/file/gdbpgrha46obue7/Ini_Settings.zip/file Now, the disclaimer: I would not intentionally send anybody any kind of files, that could be harmful. However, the internet being what the internet is... I ALWAYS recommend that people virus scan ANYTHING that they download. I've used mediafire before, and people say that the files are ok. But again... the internet being what the internet is, I have to recommend that you virus scan the file after you download it. There are 2 folders in the .zip file. One for your My Documents folder where the game files are located, and one for the main Fallout4 folder. There is an instructions file, in each of those folders. Tho the process is pretty much the same for each of them, lol. They are just .txt files, so you can open and read them with notepad, which comes with windows. I DO believe that I have those .ini files set up to skip the intro movie, on new characters. IF that's something that you don't want, I will scope thru them and show you what you need to change in order to show them again. It's basically just changing a "0" to a "1". This setup also removes a large amount of the ambient grass from the scenery. Which cut down significantly on the usage of the built in video card the laptop had. So just a warning there. Not really sure what the setting for that was. :(
