  1. About 3 months ago I was cleaning out my game directory (it was a mess) and I found the ll_fourplay.ini file. I had no idea what it was and thought it was a virus or something. I did my usual Google search and found out that it was created by AAF. I found a post that discussed how this number can be manipulated and benefit the game. I am not a programmer so my eyes pretty much glazed over the post. Mine has been set up as follows: [Custom Arrays] uMaxArraySize=2000 Should I change that and lower that number. I ask this in that whenever I create even a single settlement, my game performance decreases exponentially. With each settlement created, performance within settlements decrease and eventually that becomes a game wide issue. I do have a MOD that allows me to build more than the game cap allows for a settlement. I use to set it at 30, but realized that I really did not need that much and since I was having settlement problems, I do not go over 4 times. My question is two-fold, 1. should I reduce the uMaxArraySize? Because this ini is in there, is there anything else I need to do or is it automatically benefiting my settlement building? I did find this blog on the site that should not be mentioned: https://$%^&*00/topic/81889-devtestbeta-ll-fourplay-community-f4se-plugin-v40-2021-06-01/page/8/ Just replace the symbols with the name of the website. P.S. niston, I have seen your avatar before in several posts. Just love that actor.
  2. About a month ago, by hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall Windows. I did not want to place the game in the usual place Steam wants as I wanted the game on my root directory. What I neglected to do is disable and uninstall One drive (I really do not like using it). I downloaded all the requisite files and mods, etc. set them up, but when I set up F4SE it set up all my ini files into One Drive. How can I move the files from one drive to my game directory on the C drive and make sure my mod manager and game recognizes where my ini file are and where my save games are located (for the save games I believe I can edit my ini files to point to the correct directory). Thanks.
  3. If you do not have a mod manager (you should), you can copy all your save files to preserve your game and then re-download all of your mods. You just want to make sure that you get the load order correctly and set-up your script extender. If you are using a mod manager, there are instructions on how to do that. I would suggest that you install the game and all files on your root directory (C drive) to avid issues with your virus program. Check this out for Vortex https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/2974027084081954111/ As for MO2: https://stepmodifications.org/forum/topic/15480-how-safely-move-mo2-app-data-from-c-drive-to-f-mo2-installed-on-f-drive/
  4. I am glad you solved your issue. I have done all of that as well as undervolting my CPU and GPU. I am still having issues with severe stuttering, predominantly in settlement building where the game pauses for maybe 10 seconds, then my fps goes up to the 60s for a bit, rinse and repeat. The thing is, I have two different apps monitoring the temps and clock speeds and they are not at the point that they would throttle, so it makes no sense. I have even reduced the clock on my CPU to 3500 Mhz to prevent throttling. I am at a complete loss. Although misery loves company, I am glad that you at least have solved your problem. Happy gaming.
  5. Cool. I have used that console command on so many items. I can even save such changes with Transfer Settlements and it sticks. It is one of my favorite console commands when settlement building.
  6. It may be temperature issues with the video card. I know I have mentioned that but depending on your mods, they do put a lot of stress on the CPU and GPU. In your graph showing your lag, I experienced the exact same issues, my problem was over-heating. You may want to look into under-volting your CPU (there are plenty of YouTube videos explaning the process, I recommend Throttle stop). Although it sounds counter-productive, under-volting actually increases your CPU speed as it reduces heat. You can do the same with your GPU, though I have not yet learned how to do that efficiently. I have increased the speed of my CPU by 1,000 Mhz just be under-volting, a huge increase. I hope you figure it out as I understand how frustrating it can be.
  7. Glad you solved it. Eventually I want to get away from AWKCR, VIS-G and and DEF-Ui. There are many mod authors out there that have created better solutions. Fall UI and all of its companion mods are amazing and so lite. AWKCR is full of bloat. Eventually these will go the way of the dinosaur unless the mod authors update them and make them more efficient. If you are not running a lot of mods, you should be OK with those, but eventually, they will strain your system if you keep adding mods.
  8. Texture mods can be a killer, especially if they are in loose file format. You can combine them with other BSA texture mods through Cathedral Assets or a tool provided by the CK as BSA are much more efficient to load. I have done that with the game files that someone added their choices of textures and I added mine. It worked very well. You should try the High FPS mod. I finally figured out wh7y my game was lagging so much. I have an outdoor "man-cave" with a TV an evaporative cooler, etc., and I play outdoors as I smoke cigars while I play (I do not smoke inside my house). Irrespective of the number of fans I am running (4 under the laptop and the evap blowing on to my laptop) the temperature outside is very high (over 100 degrees and climbing now). At least I know that it is not a hardware problem per se. Companion mods can be problematic as they are heavily scripted I believe. The max I will run are three, Ivy from Lover's Lab (my all time favorite, I am waiting on version 6 to come out to play with her again) and a recent discovery, Darlene and Amazing Follower Tweaks (you cannot control Ivy or Darlene with AFT but I use it for the other companions to get their perks and then dump them). I like Heather Casdin and Ellen the Cartographer, but they have not been updated for years and after playing with them several times, the romance is over. Ivy and Darlene are actively being updated by two very good modders and I think they are the best companions for this game. I also have eliminated many of my weapon mods as I can only carry so many weapons with me. I use the BR77 as in latter stages it can be very powerful, which I need as I have mods that allow NPCs to gain experience with no limitations, coupled with mods that increase their intelligence and fighting (like taking cover or trying to surround be with cross fire, my combat game play is great, leaving only settlement mods (the vast majority of my mods), some visual mods and presets and of course Quest mods. I would easily go over 700 mods as there are so many out there, but with more mods, comes more exposure to instability. Keep working on your load order and eventually you will find a stable one. Good luck.
  9. Not sure how long you have been married, but, never, ever, give your wife such power. You might as well cut your balls off and give them tom her to wear as a necklace, and when you want to go out with the guys, you have to ask her permission to bring your balls along, and when she refuses, your pleading of "But the guys have theirs!" will go unheeded.
  10. I assume you are running some mods. I also assume that you do not mod games very often. If my assumptions are incorrect then the following may not be helpful. If you are running mods, there may be a mod conflict. Start a new vanilla game under a different character and save directory and see if you have the same problem. If you don't, then you know there is a mod conflict. At that point, you will need to add a mod or two at a time and see if they play nice. It can be a long process depending on how many mods you have and what the mods do. Hopefully you are using a mod manager. A good mod manager should alert you to a conflict, but don't always assume that it's recommendation for which installed mod goes after the other is infallible. You need to understand exactly what the mod you have added is intended to do. If mod B is meant to change the color of a workbench to pink and mod A makes the workbench clean and new and mod C is a framework for modders to add things to a workbench. You probably would want to order the mods as CAB unless the mod author ("MA") of each mod has different instructions. There are plenty of helpful tutorials on YouTube re: load order and the like. Google them. It would also help you get some answers if you posted your mod list so people can see your load order. Good luck. EDIT: I forgot to add that if you do find the culprit (the conflicting mod) depending on the mod, just uninstalling it may not solve your problem in your current game as some errors can be "baked" into your save. It is never a good idea to remove mods in the middle of a game, especially mods that are scripted. By changing load order, sometimes that will fix your problem. You need to check the MA page to see what he/she recommends with respect to removal of their mod mid-game.
  11. What happens when you forget where you kept it locked up or lose the key??
  12. Faithful poster. In your response you stated" "I'd suggest using Place Everywhere, it doesn't break precombines. You can't remove some objects, but you can move them around." It is my understanding from researching this issue that even moving an object around will break precombines. I agree that Jenncave's mods are amazing and have been using them for a long time. As for the downtown area, I just don't build there any longer because of the lag/fps issues. If I do, I just build on top of everything and do not delete anything. As for using Scrap Everything, yeah it will kill performance in that settlement cell but I accept that when I am settlement building. It should not impact the rest of the Commonwealth however. I do believe my stuttering issue is heat related so I need to look into that. I have under volted my CPU. The under volting of the CPU has dramatically dropped my temps for that and increased its performance but my lagging/stuttering throughout the Commonwealth remains. I cannot effectively under volt my GPU however.
  13. The hard drive may be the culprit if you are not seeing the proper read and write states. I assume that they are fairly new? I use SSDs so read and write is usually not my problem. It is heat that is killing my system for now. I saw the temps on your CPU and they are good. Mine are also good,\but what about the GPU? in any event, I hope switching to a different drive will fix your problem.
  14. I feel your pain Have you considered that maybe your GPU is throttling due to heat issues? I have been having lagging issues and I have pretty much tried everything that have been recommended, including Throttlestop to reduce voltage going to the CPU and MSI Afterburner to basically under-clock my GPU to reduce it from getting too hot. Throttlestop has helped with my CPU as it is working within specs and the temperature is great, but after I tried under-clocking my GPU, it actually ran hotter, which makes no difference unless there is an issue with the GPU itself. A slight overclock to the GPU gave me much better performance, but the throttling was still there due to heat issues, at least, that is what I believe is happening as I have tried all software related tweaks and none of them are working. My issue is primarily due to the fact that I use a laptop, it is not that old (less than 2 years old) but it may need some maintenance such as re-pasting the GPU with maybe liquid metal. I do not see issues with your mods (I am not an expert) but the fact that you are reporting stuttering and not constant CTDs tells me it may be hardware since you have stated that you have tried many of the performance mods. The error in your Buffout references your N-Vidia card. The MO suggests downgrading the driver to an older version, but I am not fully convinced the driver is the issue but merely a symptom of overheating. I have 2 fans and the laptop fans at max and my video card is still hitting in excess of 80C. Another possibility is having a large amount of texture files, such files can slow down the GPU. I have eliminated about 25 texture files, that did nothing. I reduced the graphics quality from good to low, nothing. These things however, may help you. Finally, some weather mods can have an impact on stability. I have found while in game my stuttering increases dramatically when there is a heavy rad storm. When I change it ti clear weather, the stuttering is substantially reduced or is non-existent. I wish there was a silver bullet I could point you to, if there is, I have not found one. I really enjoy this game as I find it relaxing but dropping down to 18 FPS and then jumping back up to 60 is simply intolerable. In monitoring the GPU, I see that it sometimes drops down to 300 mhz, WAY too low, and then jumps up to 1300mhz. Since it is a laptop, I cannot really upgrade the GPU with anything faster as the heat issue will continue to occur. I wish you the best of luck and will keep my eye open on this topic (if I can figure out how to get notifications). if I come up with any ideas. I will share those with you. You have a decent video card. I have the 2060 RTX mobile

  16. While my list of mods was not that extensive (I had around 400 mods) I made the decision to eliminate certain mods so that my game performance would increase. I am an ardent settlement builder and want to share my blueprints, so I have a huge number of settlement mods that I will not get rid of, but some of the mods that I did for textures, I bundled those up with the basic game assets as per a guide I found that has increased FPS and decreased CTDs. I normally do not have CTDs but FPS issues. So now, if I am going to build settlements, I set the graphics level to low and when I am not, I set it back to high so my FPS remains consistent. Bottom-line, you need to make adjustments with this game engine and one of the best ones would be to reduce the number of mods. The more mods you have, the more likely you will have CTDs or performance issues unless you have one heck of a PC and even then, you may still have issues. You can put a Yugo engine into a Ford 4x4 pickup and it will run, but when going uphill, it will run backwards!
  17. In the interim, just use the console to set the scale to a size that fits the area. The item will still take up the same amount of space, but it would look right. Just put it up against a wall or something.
  18. Yeah. It's a drag getting old and losing your mind. I think that is NotePAD++
  19. Was cleaning out my game directory and found the above file. I cannot figure out which mod installed this and whether I need it as I have two other mods to help with stability and FPS and I do not want this to mess those mods up. I suppose I can just move it and see what happens, but I am curious.
  20. Not vanilla as far as I remember. It may be due to a mod or mods that have broken previs. If these have been broken and you disable your mods and load a game that had those mods, I believe that data may still be in there, or, your copy of Fallout may have been messed up.
  21. AAF has an ini file. Open the ini file with Notebook ++ look for the following line: ; Adjust wizard hotkeys using DirectX Scan Codes ; See here for list of codes: https://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=DirectX_Scan_Codes toggle_key_1 = 36 ; Home Just look up the code and replace the 36 for home to another key of your liking.
  22. I don't know if you just don't post a lot or are new to the game. Also, you have not stated what exactly happening in your game. Is it just never loading up, or does it crash at certain times. This is crucial info to include in your request. If you are new to modding, your list is huge. You have to start small and build up. By starting small and then adding mods, you can see if that newly added mod is causing a conflict. You can check conflicts using xEdit but that takes knowledge, knowledge that is readily available on YouTube is you have the time and patience. Before installing a mod, see where the mod author want you to place the mod in the load order. I noticed that you have AAF. I believe AAF needs to be low in your mod order and animations need to be placed in a certain way in your load order. Also, I did not notice that you have installed Zaz extended Skeleton. If you are adult mods, that mod needs to be installed, again in a certain order. With each mod you are adding figure out what that mod is going to do and install those mods together and decide which mod will come after which, the mod that loads last wins the conflict fight which is not always bad as long as you prefer the changes made by the conflict winner. There are several guides to help with load order and optimization. Here are just a few: https://themidnightride.github.io/index.html https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23556 (there is an updated version on Discord) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2242115007 (another great guide) An alternative to doing it with xEdit is to simply cut out 1/2 of your mods (make sure that the mods you disable are not dependent on other mods in your load order) then start the game. Run with it a bit to see if it CTDs or runs fine. If it CTD's then the troubled mod is still in your load order, if not, then you have a list of potential candidates. This is not by far foolproof because it could be that non of your mods are really breaking your game, but your load order is. I would not rely solely on Vortex and I would not run Loot's sorting as that is part of Vortex. When you know you have a stable load order, definitely do not sort it with Loot. Loot can tell you if a file is dirty etc., but I think Vortex will now do that also. My advice, check out the three sites/guides above as well as the updated guide on Discord. If these are not to your liking, just add a few mods at a time and when Vortex give you a message that there is a conflict, figure out which mod you want to be loaded after the other mod based on what the mod author stated you need to do, or based on what you know the mod is changing in your game. If you are an experienced modder, then my apologies for this lengthy response. When I started modding Skyrim SE, I would just add whatever mod I wanted without thinking, I would just allow Vortex to decide what went where in the load order (unless it would not give me any suggestions and then I just guessed). I have learned to mod by making a ton of mistakes and I still make them. Good luck.
  23. I could not take a close up shot without the content being too revealing given the puritanical nature of the site. You can decapitate, mutilate, and simply annihilate a person and that can be posted without blurring, but heaven help you if you show something of an "adult nature" i.e., nakedness. One might go blind I guess.
