  1. Hmmm... I would think this almost easily doable, since there already IS an adventurer wandering around who you sometimes meet. ( a very friendly orc on a mission ) He even wanders from dungeon to dungeon, so if he has such full NPC capability, I'm sure that other adventurer NPC's could as well. That means it's likely such a mod either already exists of could be made. I hope you can find one; I'd like to see more adventurers around, myself.
  2. All that stuff would be awesome. Don't forget a ZOO!
  3. The daughter of the Forlorn Watchman is alive and well in Imperial City, living in the Talos or Temple district. Her name is Angelie, I think? Anyway, a little mod that would let you tell her that her dad was the watchman and that you freed his spirit would be kinda cool. She'll already tell you that her dad was lost at sea, so adding some lines after that should be easy enough. Maybe she could even give a little reward? An example: "Lost at sea? Wait..you're Angelie GRANTHAM? I met your father. He was the Forlorn Watchman! In fact, I've been looking for you. He wanted me to give you this." Better yet, maybe the Watchman could tell you to find her? No, wait, too hard. Instead, just add a note to his treasure chest saying to keep everything except one thing, a locket would be good, and to take it to her? It would have to be written in the way a living guy who doesn't expect to be dead soon would write it, not thanking the player for his service but instead asking whoever found the chest to take the locket to his daughter. Just a little mod to make things a wee more flavorful. The tricky part would be in not messing up any other dialog trees or quests, which should be easy enough, but I've seen some weird things happen sometimes. I once tried a mod once, for example, that only did one thing, which was to change the amount of money you could bet at the arena. That wound up totally trashing three quests! So, yeah, be careful. Thanks to anyone who might actually try this one.
  4. That was it! That worked! That totally worked! Now it's perfect! YOU DA MAN!!!! Thanks again!
  5. Oh. Rats! Well, it didn't work. In fact, it didn't even go back to looking like it did the first time. It looks kinda like the color scheme of a painted troll, but with all the blotches of color being not blotched, but clean-edged. I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce 4 6600 card. I wonder.. you say you never touched the yellow parts? Could that possibly be the very problem? Could replacing the yellow parts with a new yellow part maybe fix it? I know that's kinda out there, but it's just an odd thing that popped in my head. I turned off all my other mods and tried again in the hope that it was a mod conflict doing it, but that didn't help either. Has anyone else reported any problems, or success, with this? I'm perfectly ready to accept that the problem is on my end, but it would be nice to know for sure. Argomirr, wouldn't it be simpler if you just downloaded the file you uploaded already and tried it, getting exactly what we other downloaders got, since it's already up and available? That would rule out any further possibility of corruption due to any screwups on my part. By the way, I'm giving you kudos, and my thanks, for everything you've done already. If it can eventually work for me, then great. If not, well, we tried.
  6. Yes, I have. Three times now I've tried, and each time it only gets worse. Now the robes are completely pixelated, looking like some sort of weird patchwork mosaic. They are still shaped perfectly, but they look like they are just colored with little bitty squares of green, yellow, black & purple. The texture file is obviously very corrupted now, but I have to assume that much of that corruption is coming from my attempts to fix it. Actually, it looks really cool, but it's not what it's supposed to be. Hmmm... I suppose I could painstakingly remove those textures manually from the Data file so as to not write over them, resulting in better results? I tried just removing the folders, but maybe that wasn't good enough. Worth a try, I guess. I have to stop for now, though, so it'll be tomorrow before I can give any report on how it went. My prediction is that, at best, it will go back to the way it was the first time. Maybe I'll get lucky, though. I hope so; it really is a great looking robe.
  7. Whoops; something went wrong. The robe is a wonderful purple, but the yellow marks are not showing, replaced by hundreds of little multicolored square pixels in large patches. The texture for the yellow part didn't come through on the download, I think. I tried re-installing it, doing it bit-by-bit the second time by clicking "yes" to each part instead to "yes to all" but got the same result. Your screenshot shows perfection, and you've already had a lot of people download it, but no one has yet commented on it so I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem. Can you doublecheck to see if you maybe missed compressing the yellow part when you made the zipfile? I'm not exactly sure what else to try on my end. I install lots of mods and have a clue, in case you're wondering, so I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right, but who knows? Thanks again!
  8. This isn't really so much a request as it is a topic of quick discussion, simply because it would be one heck of a tough mod to make. How fun would this be: After finishing the main quest of the Shivering Isles, what if the worshippers at the various daedric shrines were all able to recognize you for what you had become? Furthermore, what if any daedra you contacted had modified quest dialogue reflecting the change in your status, and what if most of them were none to happy about it? They'd still let you do their quests, but what if they all got together, say, for example, after you finished Hermaeus Mora's quest, and decided to put you on a new quest of their own, sort of as an "initiation" into their little club. ( a hazing, more accurately; they don't like what you've done ) Also, a new shrine to Jyggalag could get erected, and guess who gets stuck with having to handle all the details? Maybe even the "Whom Gods Annoy" quest could be mildly altered in some way, like maybe you could force Rosentia to take the staff to the cave herself, or maybe you could just take it without having to go find out anything about it from the mage's guild. Maybe after taking it, you could use the staff's TRUE power that so far has been unknown, such as dispelling the scamps at will and summoning them as a normal summons when desired, for example. Also, two new spells could be added in addition to the others you get, and these would be to cause insanity or cure insanity on someone. That one would be a scripting nightmare, I suppose, but loads of fun. Finally, maybe some adventurers could try to attack you once they figure out your secret. You could zap them silly, or even more fun, charm them and give them "the mark of Sheogorath" which would let them past the gatekeeper. Then you could tell them to go have a fun visit to the isles, where you know they'll head straight for Xydellian and a bad ending, after which you'd get their stuff when you next went to visit. Then you could either release them as loonies, or cure them and let them off with a stern warning about respecting their betters. Heh, heh... so much potential! So... any ideas or suggestions?
  9. I got it! Maybe the Knights of the Thorn could be charged with the duty of finally doing something about the Orum Gang, quest by quest. There's all sorts of potential with that ranging from scouting and subterfuge, and building to a final big battle royale with the Orum's and the Camonna Tong guys who are backing them. After ridding the town of Cheydinhal of these vermin, maybe they could get a little respect.
  10. Hey, that poses an interesting question: How much of the architecture in the Imperial City is original Nibenay Ayleid, and how much is made by humans?
  11. Yeah, same here; I wouldn't last a week in Cyrodiil. Hey.. If I could catch a clanfear and bring it home.. hooowhee! A live dinosaur? I could exploit that in OH so many ways.
  12. Even worse, my own speaking voice has been mutating into something sounding very much like that of a kahjiit's or argonian's. Really. I often catch myself taking on a strange accent and stretching my syllables out too much, and I don't even play catmen or lizardmen. Weird, eh? Maybe I need professional help. On the other hand, if anyone should ever need such voices for an upcoming mod, I'm your guy. Hmmm... maybe I should switch back to Morrowind soon...
  13. The Heretics of Shivering Isles wear robes which are the same as Mankar Camoran's robe in appearance. Can these be changed to a different color to distinguish them? "Crown Royal bag" Purple would be nice, and go good with the yellow markings.
  14. Ah, it's about time someone did this. If it turns out as well as the Elswyer mod it'll be huge. If I were you, I'd try to assemble some sort of "Modders Dream Team" of the very best of the best in the hope of making this mod a true hall-of-fame masterpiece. It's a very ambitious project that will give everyone some very high expectations. Good luck!
  15. So we could use mods? That's handy. First stop-- a healer. I'd get everything fixed up good as new. HA! Eat THAT, modern medicine! Next stop- the market district for a little dumpster diving. All those barrels have a lot of great loot in them, and are conveniently located next to all the shops. Selling all that junk would make me some quick gold, and while gold is apparently not worth much in Tamriel, it's a thousand bucks an ounce here at home, so I'd be stinking rich upon my return. Next stop- I'm going fishing. Can you imagine what something like a slaughterfish would be worth here at home? I could get famous for "discovering" it, and make a bundle selling specimens to aquariums around the world. I am operating under the assumption that magic items would not work here on earth, so I wouldn't bother getting some or learning any spells. Potions would probably also not work very well, but I would absolutely experiment with a few. A sixpack of strong invisibility potions can be a real life-changer, ya know.
  16. I would day that it is certainly addictive. I also think it is very aptly named, since when I play it the rest of the whole world evaporates into nothingness. It causes me some problems in that regard, actually, and that's a sign of addiction. I tend to spend every available waking hour playing it sometimes, and when I dream, I dream I'm in Cyrodiil. That's probably a bad thing, but I don't care.
  17. Yes, it's a bit southeast of Imperial City on the outer road that circles the city, south of the intersection with the road to Cheydinhal. It's really out of the way, so many folks could miss it despite playing the game for months. ( who ever goes to Leyawiin THAT way, anyway? ) You'll see a burned-down ruin, and the weatherbeaten sign out front that says "All Things Alchemical." Apparently Skingrad is the shop's new, second location. Be sure to check out the ruins for anything that may have survived the fire. Something did survive, and you'll laugh when you see what.
  18. Ah, of course. mithril, not mithral. That changes everything. Thanks for all those links! This'll keep me busy for awhile.
  19. Ah, now we're talkin'. Thanks Azira! I did a search for mithral weapons but got zilch. LHammonds, that's a most excellent idea. I like the elven shapes and think those shapes in supershiny, featherlight mithral would be just the thing. Once I learn how to retexture, I'll do just that if somebody doesn't beat me to it. I suppose something gold-plated would also be nice if it was shiny and didn't look dwarven. Hmmm... I just got an idea for a mod. -What if there was some blacksmith who did work with alloys and such? -What if he sent you questing for materials that he could use, such as sets of mithral armor, silver weapons, orcish molds gold nuggets, and chunks of admantium? -What if he could then take those items, melt them down, make alloys and such, and then reforge them into new custom items? -What if you had to equip each item a few times along the way for a custom fit? You'd put it on and smack it with your hammer, but couldn't repair it all the way until after doing this a few times. As the item got more & more completely tailored to you, it would become more & more repairable, have higher health, weigh less, encumber you less, interfere with spellcasting less, offer more protection or do more damage. It could take half a day to make a set, but once finished it could be worth it. Oooh, even better, what if that was only the first part, and then came the final finishing? I'd imagine a mithral/adamantine alloy would look quite ugly, but be very light and strong. A final plating of silver or gold could be added and polished to a high lustre for a topnotch item. HA! Maybe throw in some dialogue paying tribute to that old show "Are you being served?" and let there be some lines like 'let me get your inside leg" and "don't worry, it will ride up with wear." Or not. I guess that would only be funny to a select few. Anyway, I suppose it would be hard to do, but yeah, custom-tailored equipment made of unusual materials would be great. The construction of each piece would be like a little micro-quest, and it would feel like finally having something special in the game. Enchanting the pieces would just be gravy.
  20. Hmmm... okay, thanks! This is gettin' complicated. I have at least come up with some cool stuff that at least makes this all worth doing. For example, I think that the ten ayleid statues that Umbacano wanted are really supposed to be a key to a secret teleporter which the elves used to escape when White Gold Tower was overrun. That teleporter is long past any useful state, but I figure the insane ex-guild mage helping me might like very much to get some parts from it, so some sneaky questing will be in order. Still, it's easier than building a rocket. Building a big telescope from mirrors and dwemer parts could be a good miniquest, too, along with figuring out how to create a spell for breathing not water, but.. nothing. ( or maybe creating a ridiculous spacesuit? ) Alas, thinking up all this stuff is a lot easier than making it actually happen.
  21. Mithral. Light, strong, and shiny. You'd think it would be perfect for making swords as well as armor, but apparently not. Why are there no mithral weapons in the game? ( Or silver armor, for that matter? Morrowind had silver armor. )
  22. Weatherleah is supposed to get repaired??? Well, whaddyaknow. I've never seen that. I'll have to check into it. At any rate, I don't have either of those two mods you mention, so if I have the same problem that's not it.
  23. Whoa! Coooolll. I'm starting to think that there's almost nothing left that someone hasn't thought of already. Hmmm.. horkers, perhaps? Heh,heh; looks like the modder has the "gargantuan mudcrab" mod. That's a fun one.
  24. Feel like creating an new worldspace that's out of this world? I've been trying to work on a new mod called "Mission to Masser," in which you get to play astronaut and go to the moon. I've been having a bit of trouble figuring out how to make the sky as it would appear from Masser, with the stars visible both day and night and Masser replaced with a great big ( really big ) planet Nirn. By day, the sun would be very bright and the sky would be very faint and somewhat pinkish, with the stars being only dimly visible. The night would be pretty close to the normal sky of Cryodiil, with the obvious difference of not having Masser visible, being replaced by Nirn. I suppose that Secundus should look bigger and brighter as well, and where Nirn is always looming large in the sky day and night, Secundus would act like a normal moon, since it orbits Masser, not Nirn. ( check the orrery if you don't believe me, LOL! ) The terrain is easy enough, being the kind you'd find at the bottom of the bodies of water, but tinted reddish. Naturally there's no plants or water, but I'd like to include some unique gems scattered about, much like the "blueberries" of our own planet Mars. ( Martian "blueberries" are weird little round stones of mainly Hematite which are distinctly very blue in color. They are utterly unlike anything found on earth and will be worth a fortune to whoever can eventually go GET some someday ) Rock hunting isn't the reason for going, though.
