  1. Ouch! Do you have a source for that? It simply won't launch for me either and I am on Windows 7 x64. Thats... a major problem if true. Same here, if it actually gets as far the loading screen. Lately it simply black screens the entire PC and I can't do a thing with it I have to hit the Reset button on the PC case to reboot the machine! Ouch, ouch, ouch. edit: well deleted the entire thing from my hard drive downloaded it again all 6 hours of it, let it re-detect hardware etc, and it'll launch... eventually. Takes half a dozen attempts before the game will launch without CTD'ing. Good luck, you're going to need it.
  2. I've got the same problem. Simply cannot get it to launch without crashing since update. Even verifying Steam cache doesn't fix it. I've only got like 2 mods! And F4SE. Even if it launches once in a blue moon it'll either freeze after a minute or two or CTD. Game has become basically unplayable. If no better soon I'm going to nuke the entire thing from orbit delete the install folder wipe all the .ini files and redownload the whole kit and kaboodle from Steam again. :/ edit: just been on Steam forums seems like we aren't the only ones. The curse of broken Bethesda titles strikes again!
  3. Get a better air cooler. Water coolers are no better unless they're custom loops which are really specialist items. 70-80 is too hot never mind 80-90. For the latest generations of Intel chips 73 is about the maximum recommended temperature iirc as it'll degrade if kept at excessive temperatures for long periods.
  4. COMPLETELY remove animation mods including all and any loose files and FINIS, then verify Steam cache.
  5. Oh absolutely and if you want the box+discs and whatnot thats fair enough provided you want to pay whatever they're asking for it, I bought the TES collection boxset with Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim on discs together with a paper map etc. The important thing was the Steam key inside which I used and then downloaded the entire lot I don't think the discs have even left the box. Its a nice thing to have as a collectors item, but its worth nothing more than that.
  6. I dunno about anyone else but I havn't felt the need to mod FO4 much at all I got tired of all the dead vegetation so got some grass and something that puts some leaves back on the trees (even Chernobyl has healthy vegetatation even if its too dangerous for humans to go near, wildlife too. Life is suprisingly resillient) but thats about it. Whereas Skyrim within days of getting it I was modding it to the nth degree. I just havn't felt the need for Fallout. Maybe something to improve that console-ised dialogue choice system if such a thing exists. But other than that I'm simply not bothered. The engine is finally stable with no stuttering and textures look fairly decent, if unexeptional, even God Rays look better than Skyrim's ENB version and the shadows are light years ahead. So I really don't feel the desire to want to tinker with it, and there are times I've felt I've spent more time messing about with mods on Skyrim than I've actually spent playing it.
  7. And the RX480 performs even better at that. Vulkan too though you'll be lucky to find a review site that'll benchmark it as most seem to favour Gimpworks titles. Makes you wonder how much in Nvidia's pocket they they really are. Just picked up a Nitro myself for the 2nd PC.
  8. Planes are just that, flat two dimensional objects that block anything behind it rendering. Boxes cover entire areas. Functionally they're very similar except boxes allow portals that are effectively a window that lets you see into the contents of the box at that point. They don't, they're simply optimized by keeping the polygon count to a minimum. If you visit some of the larger single celled houses in Windhelm for example they're very sparsely populated almost empty, thats deliberate. Bethesda must have spent a lot of time optimizing or had a specialist team overseeing the worldspace designers with a view to never letting the polygon count get too high. Either that or their version of the CK has something that tells them when there are too many objects in the field of view. Modders just have to get by on trial and error, mostly. Only one or two portals are allowed per box, I believe, theres a page about portals and roombounds on the CK wiki that'll give the details.
  9. Are you using a "clean" save from before you started working on the mod? If you don't have one there are savegames you can download. Because if you start working on something especially if its scripted and then you modify something while still using the same save it'll typically cause issues. Always test with a clean save thats unknown to the mod especially after making any changes, good hygiene is important when modding and especially so when you're dealing with scripts.
  10. Not all meshes are designed to be seen from both sides, most walls are like that they have only one visible surface, look from other side and you can see right through it. You'll need a mesh thats designed to be seen from either side or add a separate "ceiling" below the "floor". Stone floors typically are one-sided, whereas wooden floors i.e. the upstairs in Breezehome, are designed to be seen from below as well as above and indeed there are gaps in it which means you can see through the floor to the room below. Thats not necessarily a good thing though because it means the game engine has to render both rooms at once which can lead to performance issues. With "solid" floors you can optimize with occlusion planes etc between walls and floors.
  11. Sounds like a mod has an error where the default water height has been changed in a single cell. Done it myself on onr occasion part of Whiterun was under water. Still not sure how that happened but at least it was easy enough to clean up with TES5edit.
  12. This is the "Momentum" group and like minded individuals on the extreme left, they want nothing to intimidate anyone who doesn't agree with their agenda but its part of general movement of the Left to try and inhibit free speech like throwing words like "Rascism" into any discussion, want to discuss immigration? You'll be railroaded into strawman arguments trying to prove your "rascist" agenda. This kind of hear no, speak no, see no evil approach is why Rotherham happened in the first place. And there are people still in denial over it. :pinch:
  13. Ok, heres my advice: start simple. Don't get overwhelmed with a huge project because its all too easy to become bogged down and disheartened. Secondly it sound like you don't have a clue what you want to be doing? You need to focus on exactly what you want to achieve: there are different type of modders: 3d modellers, scripters, quest writers, house designers etc. Most modders tend to fall into a particular camp and while one moddder may be an absolute genius when it comes to 3d modelling i.e. creating weapon sets or armours he may know diddly squat about scripting or quest design, ever wonder why that amazing player home you downloaded you can acquire for absolutely free? No quests, tasks, or even a purchase price from the Jarl's Steward? Its because they know jack **** about those other things. Not to criticize them but what I'm saying is modding is a broad church and its rare you'll find someone who has the skill set across the board and conversely why collaborations are sometimes the best mods out there, because each collaborator is playing to their strengths.
  14. Yes exactly and you almost always had to insert the disk in the drive and it would run a CD check to prove you actually owned the game, some of the older games actually loaded data off the disk too. So if you moved and lost the disk or the disk got scratched as it inevitably did sooner or later putting it in and out the drive... oh dear. Oh dear oh dear! The other issues is the sheer size of the data Fallout 4 is what, 25gb or thereabouts? Shadow of Morder was 30gb+ iirc. The only way to fit that much data onto a disc is on a Blu-ray. And the last time I looked those drives are expensive not to mention the physical space the discs took up. I used to have shelves full of games in CD and DVD cases. And everytime I wanted to play a different game, go searching on the shelf for that one title amongst countless others to stick it in the drive and put the old disc back in its case and back on the shelf, only to repeat again an hour later when I wanted to play a different game. Can't say I miss it at all.
  15. We don't know who sent donations we only get a message from PayPal a donation has been sent and the real name of the person who sent it. There is absolutely no way of knowing which Nexus member sent it at all unless they send a PM. Other than that we can add a generic "thank you to those who donated" but other than we don't have a clue, like the Kudos system no-one knows who clicked that button except the person who sent it.
  16. Good bloody job too, anyone who remembers the endless strikes of the '70's knows it had to change. And the unions are still stuffing the Rail service on Southern, high levels of sick leave, absenteeism, until someone gets a grip and deals with the damn unions we'll continue to see this nonsense. And anti-capitalist, gimme free handouts, Momentum and others on the extreme Left that support Corbyn is exactly why Labour will never get back into power. And good damn riddance. If only Cameron had the guts to grab the unions by the balls he probably woudn't be out off office now. /rant Thats probably go something to do with the fact its easier to download via the game interface than it is to log in here and downlod with NMM or manually install (still running NMM 0.56 here and the one mod I have downloaded... came from Bethesda.net) :ermm: 'Cos script compiling issues. Like the latest versions of NMM MO has problems with getting scripts put in the correct folders too, there are ways around it or so I've heard but I can't be bothered faffing around with it.
  17. Not entirely sure what you're trying to do but the texture filepaths for models are set in the .nif file itself, open the picture frame model in NifSkope and point them at the texture filepath making sure its a valid one, save then when you open the CK drag the object from the object window into the render window and the model together with its textures should show up there and in the game.
  18. Ok, did you check the dialogue on the marriage quests? Because its been a while since I looked but I believe they're set up for generic voiced actors and not unique voiced ones. You'd have to patch all the marriage dialogue options or somehow temporarily change his voice type for the duration? I'm not sure if thats even possible though.
  19. Agreed, with any project like this you're starting from a known quantity and moving to an unknown one, and the best advice is keep the possible variables to a minimum because its easier to keep on top of any problems. Case in point if it was me I'd start with a vanilla body, make sure the follower part i.e. the CK stuff, is working correctly and only then move on to the unknown part i.e. the CBBE body. Because the way I see it you're trying to do to much, too quickly and making life hard for yourself. Small, simple steps and a lot of them is much better than a few large ones where you can't be sure where you're treading. Making a vanilla follower is actually very easy because the game is set up to create new NPC's very easily, so long as you stick within the template established within the CK. Once you move away from that mold you're dealing with a whole host of other issues that may have nothing to do with the follower framework at all and are more to do with how do you create/modify CBBE bodies? I have no idea because I don't use them but regular followers, they're easy. And I'm not a programmer at all.
  20. You can turn off DoF open up the settings and untick the Depth of Field box (Shift+Enter) then save or edit the enbeffect.ini directly - EnableDepthOfField=false under Global settings If you prefer another enb preset's DoF you can simply drop that on into your skyrim folder and overwrite vibrant's one If you want to edit the enbeffectprepass.fx... sorry never got around to editing the DoF. Easier to just use another existing one I found.
  21. That only affect the number of kids adopted, once you have two it shuts down the adoption quests and Bethesda havn't set them up to be able to re-started without breaking the adoption system. The custom house part of the mod though should be unaffected, you just won't be able to adopt any more kids on this playthrough (start a new one or download a savegame with most of Skyrim completed for testing purposes) Had no idea it can be that the marker had such a wide area. He means that you have to add sandbox home markers in those locations, theres a strict limit on their sandbox radius. The sandbox home package allows 4 possible markers so 4 separate locations they can sandbox in during the daytime. By contrast their sandbox evening marker has only 1, their bedroom. The spouse sandbox package by contrast is really basic and apart from DLC houses its simply the default one on the marriageFIN quest. You'll have to edit that quest to add a better package or better still create an override quest and package that has a higher priority if you want to avoid conflicts with marriage mods. Because they don't have a "run" override on their AI package. You'll have to tick the box if you want them to run instead, walking is the default option.
  22. Because human history is like that, the Stone Age covers 99.99% of all of human history. The Dark Ages/Middle Ages lasted a 1000 years and technological progress was slow to non-existent and far below the level of technology the Romans had. They had flushing toilets and sewers and concrete, they weren't in common use again until the 19th century and concrete until the 20th. Its a mistake to assume the progress of technology is always fast or consistent. Also if you notice apart from a few enlightened individuals like Calcelmo no-one cares or worse is mistrustful of superior tech like the Dwemer had. The lack of curiosity and blatant prejudice and superstition towards either technology (or magic) mirrors that of europe until the Age of Enlightenment from the 18th century onwards from then on development was rapid but its mistake to assume it was always like that, and as the fall of the roman empire proves its possible for human societies to collapse or disentegrate and descend into darkness for extended periods of time. Specs and tidal mills hardly counts as a technologial revolution. And gunpowder was invented by the chinese over a millenium earlier it took that long to filter through to the West. As for the Black Death it loosened up the labour market and brought an end to serfdom in Western Europe as people could up sticks and move to where they got paid better wages as labour was in such demand but that not a technological change just a social one. Things start to move from the 17th C onwards and from the 18th Century onward technological change has been breathtaking arguably the invention of the combustion engine being the single largest contributer to that as previously all forms of work was performed my muscle or wind power. Of course if we're talking about a fantasy world then the creators can come up with any excuse they like, or none at all as seems to be the case with Skyrim.
  23. I have to agree I've never played a Fallout game before just like Skyrim was my first TES game and like that I'm loving it. Hours and hours just get sucked away blink and 3 or 4 hours have vanished just like that. Well until I came across a certain Deathclaw who makes me want to throw my controller out of the window, but thats another story. I love Bethesda's sandbox games. I really do. I'm suckered in hook, line and sinker. I dislike being tied down to linear gameplay or endless quest driven stuff where I get bored and just want to wander off and explore the world at my leisure. Especially RPG's. I've never got them and I doubt I ever will. Clearly theres something in it as they're absurdly popular but like the recent Pokemon craze I find them bizaare and leave me scratching my head trying to figure out what the fuss is about, like the game-within-a-game card game Gwent. Whats that all about? Why would you want to play a card game while playing a videogame much less collect its cards?! I just don't get it. I've actually tried several new games lately and FO4 has really sucked me in whereas The Witcher 3 is the biggest disappointment I've had in quite some time, still waiting on a refund from Steam on that one. I feel its aimed at dedicated RPG'ers and leaves mainstream gamers out in the cold and I feel misled by all the hype surrounding it. I never learn. Never ever buy an RPG unless you're seriously into genre, I think Bethesda's titles suckered me into thinking they're RPG's when really they're not and that I'd actually like this one, which was a mistake. As for long time Bethesda players being disappointed in it, well thats the just 1st Law of Videogaming, isn't it, never play a successor to a title you loved because you'll always be disppointed. You'll never capture that moment of joy and elation you had the first time round because playing a sequel will always be a case of more of the same and it'll never match the level of hype or expectation. The only frustrating thing so far is the game engine simply refuses to recognise my monitor resolution, theres simply no excuse for it in this day and age TW3 has no problems with it, even the ancient Source engine game Black Mesa picks it up straightaways! Having to hack .ini files and widescreen HUD fixes is not my idea of fun. Strange really as everything else about the game's design is so polished from the professional and believeable Pip Boy to the slick comic book artwork to the nice 'n' easy progression that eases you into the games controls and gameplay, so unlike TW3 which basically tosses you in the deep end and simply leaves you splashing around wondering what on earth you're supposed to be doing and trying not to drown. TW3's menus and map system look and feel amateurish and once you get away from the main chars its peripheral characters, villagers and the like are almost cartoonish whereas FO4's slick artwork and alternate-reality slice of slightly kitch 50's Americana and the art directors' obvious wisftul melancholia in portraying of a kind of American idyll long gone or a golden age of innocence, an american Paradise Lost, is a delight.
  24. Why don't you try it and find out? Its only a "may or may not" cause problems, which sounds like a general disclaimer to me (I add them myself on occasion to try and cut down on the "OMFG you ****ed my game you tool!" and the like comments which may or may not have anything to do with my mod, either way its rarely worth the effort trying to track them all down as anything that deviates from vanilla is like chasing infinite rabbits down infinte holes). In short its a get-out-of-jail-free card as its impossible to know all variables, if it works in vanilla thats good enough. Anything else is an unknown quantity.
