Anything out there about unarmed combat?
Fatalmasterpiece replied to SpellAndShield's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Wrote a whole post but my stupid phone deleted it when I tried to post... I own my own suit of armor I use for reenactment battles. I don't care who you are, Mike Tyson could punch me in the face of my helmet and I might get knocked back a little but his hand is going to be crippled and broken, unable to fight any longer. I wouldn't be harmed. Unarmed combat needs to exist for necessity but beyond the basic punching its silly and unnecessary.. -

Totally want to see someone punch a dragon to death. The problem with doing more than punches is that it would require creating an entirely new form of combat, and they might as well have to completely rewrite how they did battles all together. If you could grab some guy, do a suplex or choke hold, then submit him before breaking his arm... there is no room for adding this into the game engine unless it was intended from the start. There is a reason people invented weapons. Successful unarmed combat against multiple enemies who do have weapons is completely impossible. -
I don't recal any weapons made from Mithril but I may just be being forgettful. I wonder if there is a reason if there are not any.

If it hasn't already been announced the chances of seeing any multiplayer in any way shape or form is extremely unlikely. Bethesda has already stated their stance in the past on why they don't want to do it, and that stance doesn't look like it's changing any time soon.

You make a valid point. I wish though that they would learn to use limit poly count to create good models. It looks like they finally got faces and bodies right, after amatuer modders have been out doing them for years. I remember the first time I installed some of Ren's hair in Morrowind. I think it was my first mod install and I almost took a crap in my chair. The models were so much better they made the standard ones look laughable, all without impacting performance. And this was from some random dude chillin in his house killing time. I'm thinking my only major gripe with Skyrim is going to be weapon models and probably armor...

Your deffinition of good must differ greatly from the opinion presented by the top endorsed mods for Oblivion... With the exception of a few (such as Midas Magic), most don't even add abilities. I certaintly never downloaded nor installed any mod which gave me more overpowered abilities beyond that already present in the game. I'm kind of hoping there is a way to play the game without really focusing on these dragon shouts.

Thanks. I'm running Avast and have had good luck with malwarebytes in the past, I'll try it again. Edit: did a scan and came up clean. Still no explaination of the strange pop up in the OP -
It's the post apocalypse, people can't even find water to drink that doesn't kill them, super mutant murderers have taken over the nation's capital, bands of marauders run around abducting people to take them back to their base and kill them in grisley manners. It is supposed to be depressing!!! :wallbash:

Interesting Ub3rman, I'm going to read the rest of that article... but that picture at the beginning, while cool, keeps bugging me with the character wielding a rather poorly modeled, bulky sword... They could at the least put some specular on it so it looked like it was metal and not stone. Anyone else think besides the character models Skyrim doesn't look like that much of a visual upgrade from Oblivion?

Skyrim is going to be dumbed down.
Fatalmasterpiece replied to antonkr's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I would have to disagree. I wasn't new to TES when getting Oblivion, and I didn't get it at launch but I was pleasently surprised when I did get it. Oblivion was a great game with many advantages and disadvantages compared to Morrowind, I can only guestimate but I think I probably have 600+ hours played on each game separately. Oblivion fixes many problems that Morrowind had and brought many new problems to the table. I don't think it's fair to say one was better than the other. I will also add that I have never played through more than the first quarter of either game's primary quest. At Oblivion I stopped at closing the gates and Morrowind I stopped at collecting the thingys for Caius Cosades (aka half naked Patrick Stewart) Edit: After reading the arcticle about the new combat system it is obvious that fighting will be FAR more indepth than in previous TES titles... so the game being dumbed down is looking less and less like a possibility. -

Hopefully no one will be able to replicate it! lol I did have some other windows open as you can see, but all of those should be pretty safe websites so I doubt they would be the source of such an issue. I will do a scan then. Can anyone recommend a good adware/spyware scanner/remover for win7 64? -
popped up when opening NVNexus in browser. Sorry for the large SS. http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/58/16316662.jpg

Essential mod list for more realistic game play
Fatalmasterpiece replied to sukkafree63's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
I highly recommend Wanderer's Edition. Also, just search the term Ironsights, then select the filter to sort by downloads and look at which one gets the most downloads, it's probably the best one. That method works for pretty much anything you want and has been my route to modding these games for 5+ years now. Also you should get FO3Edit and learn how to create a merged patch once you get all the stuff you want. It will help with stability and avoid crashes and incompatibilities. -
By Fallout I assume you mean Fallout 3? I preffered 3 over NV for sure. It was built better and felt like a more immersive atmosphere. Sometimes traveling through the subways in the dark was really scary and always trying to find ammo was a real challenge. NV feels more like a sandbox where I just run around and shoot stuff. Less survival, less fear or danger. Even though, the game mechanics themselves are better thanks to updates like ironsights, ammo crafting etc.

Yeah I have to admit I was not that enthused about the Dragon Shouts thing. The whole dragon language sounds awesome but actualling having these powers sounds like it's just going to cause your character to feel that much more out of place in the world, since eventually no one will be able to do what you can, teleport, slow down time, summon dragons etc... Reminds me much more of Fable where you are one bad a$$ amongst a bunch of piddly NPCs and the game only throws at you what you can handle. I liked it in Morrowind when you felt like the rest of the game had the same powers as you had so you never felt like a god and you could face unknown challenges at the next turn of a corridor.

Will you be buying a new rig for skyrim
Fatalmasterpiece replied to Dianadoesitbest's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It is part of windows 7, comes up on system properties. It gives the over all score as the lowest asset. But it is a little flawed, to get above the 5.9 on hdd it must be solid state.....I needed a little more storage so I am using a pair of 1.5tb wd caviar black in a raid 0, for faster speed of data retrieval in game. Have a pair of 5870's in xfire, and 12 gigs of ram coupled with a 920 quad core. This rig is under a year old and was maxed out pretty much from Alienware when I had it built, stayed within my budget for a tower of 3500.00 and am quite pleased with how it does run games. May upgrade it later this year, but I don't see a great need as it should meet my needs for a few years yet. May by a new case and psu from alienware just for additional drive space ;and transfer everything over to an area 51 alx case when I retire next year or may just order a new one as I have not decided yet. Micky That's about $2500 more than you needed to pay. See "Alienware" ^ :teehee: -
Skyrim is going to be dumbed down.
Fatalmasterpiece replied to antonkr's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
The problem with fast travel is it is a lazy, content robbing, short cut. Why come up with anything more interesting if you can just teleport? For someone griping about removal of features you sure don't seem to mind the removal of a reasonable and plausable travel system found in Morrowind for a short cutted 'hey we can just teleport' dumbed down system like Oblivion. I can't express enough how much people need to stop trying to explain Skyrim features by basing things on actual world Norse people. You can't assume something will be the same simply because the Nords are visually themed on an actual group. If that were the case, why did the Empire, based on Romans, abolish slavery? Why don't they use gladius and tower shield techniques, the corner stone of Roman military superiority. Because they arn't Romans, they just look like them, similarly to how the Nords just look like the Norse. Your generalization of the Norse and their "legal system" is terrible. Are you refering to the Norse in Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Finland, Normandy, Greenland, or possibly the Rus? Do you really think they all had the same laws or looked the same? People's generalization of this culture on here is as bad as people who casually say, well the Indians did it this way... in reference to the millions of Native American's who's diverse cultures spanned thousands of miles. -
Now that I've seen screenshots of the weapons its clear Bethesda is continuing the unfortunate route of oversized, and unwieldy weapons... Thinking I need to brush up on my rendering skills and create a weapon replacer that makes the items look realistic and usable. There were some really great ones available for oblivion. Unfortunately no one ever seemed to address glass weapons looking more like popcicles than actual blades.

I preferred the oblivion route with daedra. The depiction of all cultists being violent in morrowind was annoying and it was fun in oblivion to feel a part of the mythology of the daedra.

I think you have a great start on your first mod. Start learning blender and you'll be a pro by November. -

This. I second these opinions. Corpses actually rotting would be awesome. They probably already have skeleton meshes, so why not? And definitely a lot of work should go into stealth - it's a huge part of fun and exciting gameplay for me! Given the climate of the game's location, it could be years, decades or even longer before dead bodies decayed. Even then, a bleached bone white skeleton would be extremely unlikely. You forget scavengers, good sir. In these harsh climates predatory animals are not above consuming human and animal remains. Very rarely are well preserved bodies found in the woods around here. And though the cold plays a vital part in human preservation, you'd be hard pressed to find a location, frozen year round with "Large cities" and "Farming",so you didn't take into account the summer thaw. Your preserved bodies would be rare sight, only possible on mountaintops and iceflows, buried in snow and ice soon after death. Remember, even though the permafrost never melts on the tundras, there is a summer thaw. In areas such as forgotten buried tombs there isn't likely to be very many large scavangers around to pick clean the bodies. Half the dungeons will probably have undead in them, undead which won't scavenge the bodies but will keep at bay most things that would. Not only that but how do you suppose a scavenger such as a wolf would be able to put your skeleton back together to be recognisable after he ripped your limbs off the torso to keep his share away from the other's in the pack? If anything you would find A bone, A skull or A rib cage scattered on the floor, not an entire skeleton. If you are killed by ice wraiths in a frozen crypt in a permafrosted valley... who is going to pick clean your bones? Maybe the next adventurer who comes along will get hungry, eat the meat off you, bleach each bone, then carefully place the skeleton back piece by piece to reform your visage and create this nice white skeleton you envision. -
Going to add that idea about templates to the thread for the guy bringing ideas to the developers. I'm sure there will be a book within the game I really hope so. It would help to make the game have that much more depth.
