  1. Not only higher powered psu but make sure its from a good company. Read reviews and find out the specs on your planned psu. Corsair, enermax... Who makes your psu matters!
  2. A new game engine doesn't mean it will be easier to make or even possible. It all relies on if havok physics will be applicable to weapons. If so then maybe... I would like to see them but that all depends on the developers.
  3. Download and install FNVEdit. Google, fallout how to create a merged patch. You should be able find a guide to explain not only how to merge them but how proper load orders and FOMM works in general.
  4. Yeah I know it can be a pain in the butt. As a rule of thumb I never or rarely use mods which edit the game world like adding npcs or alter locations because these are the most likely to cause conflicts and crashes.
  5. Interesting, might you have a link to that article if it has been digitized? Guessing you mean't GTA?I find it rather humorous that one of the few games which does have racial diversity is also one that capitalizes directly on violence and crime... but, we are in agreement, it comes down to profit and white people with money want to play games with white people in them... Living in the larger cities of Michigan most of my life, it is really strange when one doesn't see minorities. I wonder if Bethesda will ever do a future game based primarily on Hammerfell. With the prominence of Redguards, it's interesting to consider what the financial implications would be.
  6. Currently the military. Hopefully they will have a new election soon, as they promised to the citizens (i.e. they would support them). Anyone with enough money for bribes will be the new president... That seems to work just fine here in the USA.
  7. I am assuming based on what you describe that you are using Windows 7? Might I ask what kind of copy you are using, retail, steam download, d2d, burned iso copy... >.> ?
  8. I tried to find canon lore info for Detroit in regards to Fallout but couldn't find anything. Could you provide a link to the data your referencing? All I know is the concept art for Interplay's Fallout Online seems to depict Detroit.
  9. Yeah you have a good point. Personally I wouldn't want to see it because in reality, nothing would be mutated... it would just get cancer and die, or be horribly disfigured like ghouls. So in my mind, even Cazadors don't make much sense but... meh. So if they are going with the whole, excess radiation causes freak growth, strange fast evolution kinda thing, then yeah there should be people like Total Recall running around. But then again you would think there would be more Mexicans and blacks running around too but I already pointed that out :P
  10. You can just use the grenades she offers you, hide in the server room where you downloaded the data and close the door before the explosion. It's really easy.
  11. All the original files are stored inside BSAs. By placing anything in your data folder you overwrite those BSAs and possibly change other game data/settings, even without anything activated. Electro-city won't make it impossible to start another game. It doesn't even modify the game that way. The reason you can't is due to some other game file which has been altered or something you did.
  12. To be honest I think the real reason is just that Oblivion often forgets details and doesn't tend to tie up their loose ends... there's a lot of rough edges in New Vegas that could have used some work. I just hope that if Fallout Online is ever created, which is supposedly set in Detroit, Interplay has more racial diversity, or when Bethesda makes another they do the same.
  13. I think your missing the point. Its a sandbox RPG. Skip the story, I always do and there's more than enough content to never touch the main plot. I even got a mod that skips the jail and starts my character on a boat for oblivion. Why not put your effort into a mod like that? I hate TES weapons personally but rather than complain I'm working on a mod to replace them all.
  14. Why, theres no reason to since using master update effectively makes v9a into v9b. You need to understand that disabling all your mods doesn't actually disable everything. The files are still in the data folder, they are still overwriting the game files. All Esps and Esms tell the game to do is edit the game world data in some way, but they control nothing over meshes, textures and other resources used by the game.
  15. That's completely different. Lord of the rings was set in a completely different fictional universe based on myths created by ancient Europeans. There were no black people because there were no black races to be present from the get go for those who created the myths the books were based upon, such as Scandinavians. Fallout is set in a futuristic USA, a place where there are different ethnic groups, and at the very least signs of these groups, like pueblo villages, adobe buildings, use of the Spanish language in old world items... It's almost as if Obsidian got all their information about Nevada and the American Southwest from Las Vegas post cards and Chevy Chase films.
  16. You make some good points but there are some strange inconsistencies... As you say, the 50s USA wasn't exactly racial equal. If Obsidian was meaning to reflect that, it is strange they do it in such a background, passive manner rather than actively showing characters as having closed minds. As far as I know, every faction in the game has a least some racial diversity, so it leads me to believe this isn't "back of the bus" type casting going on here. I'm not sure if I can recall any black Legion soldiers off hand, and they seem to be the most likely to reflect this kind of racial discrimination. Then again, it may be as you said, something from the past and not necessarily reflected in the "present" despite impacting it through less racial diversity being present. I'm not sure the amount of population present in Wasteland USA who were not from vaults and not turned to ghouls. This would be a great contributing factor... but who knows how many survived without shelter. There may be some details on the wiki somewhere. It still doesn't account for the lack of physical evidence of these peoples even existing though...
  17. I recommend doing a new clean install of Oblivion and don't add anything, no script extender, no mod manager, no nuttin cept maybe use the official patch. Does that still crash every ten minutes? If so you may have a heat issue with either your CPU or GPU. Also it could be an issue with running out of memory.
  18. No, you only paid to be a supporter(£1 plus tax, VAT or processing I am assuming), which only gives you access to the better image share. See your group changed to supporter. Premium membership is more expensive (1 month: £2.49) and offers more features such as no ads, file history etc. The description page that explains the membership more thoroughly is actually quite detailed and useful.
  19. No, any precursor dictates your character too much. As it is, your character could have never committed a crime and wound up in prison for any imaginable reason. There should be no backstory as to who you were before becoming a prisoner.
  20. So I'm not trying to cry racism or QQ about how it's unfair... I just don't understand, after playing through NV, why there are no black, native american, asian or any other minority companions... besides Raul who is kinda err ghoul-hispanic but not overtly. Not only that there aren't even any of these minority races which play a major role in the story line, at least that I can remember. To top it off there isn't much of a native american or hispanic cultural presence in the area, such as pueblo or adobe buildings, artwork, businesses, language etc. I know the Khans live in some vaguely native american style dwellings... but that seems more attributed to being on the move from the NCR than a cultural choice. Do any of the prospective DLCs cover this or is Obsidian just kinda oblivious to the fact that these cultures play a major role in the region. As a multiracial but mostly white person myself I don't find it offensive but just laughably ignorant and one dimensional.
  21. I see your point Broken but we will just disagree on the jailbreak thing. To me it is a minor plot device that doesn't detract from the story but enables it to be flexible. I think though we may find common ground in disappointment that yet again you are the chosen one and yet again you have to save the world from the unspeakable evil. As you said, why can they not break the mold and try something new for a change? What if my character is evil and doesn't want to change the world, or wants to see it die. What if my character is good but more concerned in taking over the mages guild and finding secret artifacts rather than becoming the OMG UBER ONE!!!111N!N!1 I don't care about learning all the dragon shouts or stopping the dragons from killing towns or becoming the next Dragonborne uber man of omgwtfbbqpwn. I just want to explore the landscape, become powerful, have great battles, discover amazing locations and do it all without being pidgeonholed into the same ol same ol your the chosen one bull pucky.
  22. Yeah but unlike games like Dragon age or what have you, there's plenty of play time without ever having to realize becoming the chosen one. You can just take over the guilds, raid dungeons, complete quests, explore etc. So you don't HAVE to be the chosen one. None of my characters ever were. The prison makes sense because it's perfectly permissible that any character could spend a brief stint in jail without it derailing their character's theme.
  23. I wouldn't know, I've never finished a TES game. I just play them for their sandbox and modding abilities and run the side quests. I don't even know what happens after you meet Casius Cossades or save Martin... nor do I really care. Sounds like we have that in common hehe. As long as the story doesn't begin, your a normal farm boy/girl, who just wants a normal life until your family is killed and you realize you are THE chosen one. Gods I f**** hate that plot... as someone who has had to live through many of the "tragic loss" plot devices in my real life, it's really not as cool as people make it out to be when your an orphan from a violent backround and have to make it on your own.
  24. I would save alittle bit on your processor and put a little more in your GPU if your gaming. I'm big into eye candy so I usually get a top of the line GPU and a couple steps down CPU. CPU costs for getting top of the line do not reflect the improvement you will get in performance for a few more tenths of a gigahurtz.
