  1. Well I don't know what I'm doing but I started the Windows resource monitor before playing and indeed my 4 cores were at around 70% while I was playing, looking at Riverwood from the stone bridge..Not that I did ANY ini tweaks related to multithreading.
  2. Isnt HDT Havoc just for boobs physics ? Oh yes get an i7 so you have jiggly boobs !..Seriously... What are the tweaks that you speak of for making Skyrim use 4 cores ? If its the same old BS from the Oblivion days, that doesn't do anything for performance
  3. futureproof maybe but if I recall correctly my modded Skyrim only goes up to 700ish Mb of RAM used. Which would be surprising and I know that Skyrim Performance Monitor doesn't play well with ENB when you use the enbhost.exe. But my ram sits at 700ish Mb and my VRAM at 2.2Gb. (Oh I have 8Gb RAM btw) Anyways RAM is the cheapest thing to buy on a PC
  4. For the original question, I agree that the i7 would be overkill. I have an i5-200k at 4.2Ghz and I barely top 42% cpu usage in-game To who was asking, I mentioned the r9 270 because the original poster mentioned it in his list of potential new cards. It's really weak compared to the other choices; as far as I know the R9 270 is a rebadged 7850 (what I had before switching to the R9 280x, and the 280X is a rebadge of the 7970). Also thank you but I dont know why you are giving me tips on tweaking Skyrim. For what it looks like I am very happy with the 55ish fps. Of course I DO have mods that add stuff, 86 of them last time I checked. I think the one that is the most taxing is one of those Whiterun mods, and lush grass and trees. For the rest I have some 2k textures, but not that many. All run thru the texture optimizer. My ini files are also tweaked a lot, I have 300 hours logged in and I'm sure half of that time was spent tweaking and testing mods . http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_enb2014_12_0200_05_24_96_zpsb0fcc46a.png http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_riverwood.jpg http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_ScreenShot7_zpsd305ff10.png Some recent screens, but the game is looking even better lately after tweaking the DoF and stuff. I'm now able to run Tamriel Reloaded ENB with all the eye candy (SSAO, godrays, DoF and stuff). Oh also, my gfx card is always running at 99% but that's why you buy a good graphics card no ? I would be pissed if I paid for power that is not used by my games. It is always sitting at around 67-68 degrees anyway
  5. How are i5's more stable ? Never heard that anywhere. R9 270 is rubbish. I just bought a R9 280X coupled with my i5-2500k running at 4.2Ghz, with 90ish mods running and Tamriel Reloaded ENB/Climates of Tamriel/RLO/Hi-res textures/LOD/Lush Grass and Tress blablabla. (Running at 1080p mind you) FPS is generally around 55 fps, sometimes going in the 40's. My gpu is constantly at 99% usage and around 2.2Gb of VRAM usage. You will need much more power (I guess) if you want to play at 1440p.
  6. Is it Customizable Camera ? I have this one installed and it plays nice with the free cam
  7. For starters I think Christmas lights would be the most atmospheric change that could be done ! And what about a big Christmas tree that would replace that big tree in Whiterun
  8. Do you have a mod that changes the first person view installed ? Usually I just go in 3rd person mode, then hit tfc 1 in the console and I'm good to go ?
  9. What about the encoder that comes with Geforce Experience ? Shadowplay or something ? It's supposed to be pretty good
  10. Oh yeah, I forgot that hehe. Still, I think it would be a nice immersion feature for, well, people that like to throw rocks
  11. Hello everyone, so I was just playing Far Cry 4 last night and I thought it would be nice if there was such a thing as being able to throw rocks to distract enemies in Skyrim ? I know I have noisemaker arrows, but it could be nice for the non bow and arrow type people. Just throwing it out there *ba dum tss*
  12. The ones that come to mind are : Ultimate Follower Overhaul Faster Arrows Realistic Ragdolls and Forces Binocular vision for NPC's while sneaking Campsites in Skyrim Campsite of the Northern Ranger Celtic music in Skyrim (all plugins) Customizable Camera Deadly Combat Enhanced blood textures Even better quest objectives Immersive HUD Immersive patrols Immersive Weapons Lanterns of Skyrim Left hand rings Lore based loading screens Lush trees and grass More bandit camps No NPC greetings - Reduced distance Proper aiming Realistic crime radius Sneak Tools Simithing Perks Overhaul Complete crafting overhaul remade Weapons and armor fixes remade Wearable lanterns Vilja in Skyrim (companion mod, I'm not sure anything compares to it)
  13. Yes. Your processor is decent (I have an i5-2500k myself) but your graphics card is relatively crap by today's standards. Since most game's performance nowadays rely solely on the graphic card, you'd be set with something better. I just moved from a radeon 7850 to a radeon R9 280X and it's amazing.
  14. Pretty much all ENBS that use SSAO and Bokeh DOF will drop your fps to these numbers. I use Tamriel Reloaded ENB, with the HIGH preset. With some personal tweaking of enbseries.ini I have great fps with a R9 280X. Pretty much always close to 60. That is with Climates of Tamriel and Realistic Lighting Overhaul.
  15. Try Stakado`s Cinemascope ENB, it's the one I use. Not as fancy looking as Realvision but great in its own way. 'Tamriel Reloaded' is more like Realvision but much more performance friendly
  16. Straightest answer : 8.1 is the best OS for gaming. Also I am modded to hell and back and everything works fine in Skyrim. Windows 8.1 x64 i5-2500k AMD Radeon 7850 2Gb
  17. To everyone saying "too much for a laptop", this is a great laptop for gaming. Not what your grandma uses to go on AOL. I play Skyrim with lots of mods AND ENB on a lower specced laptop (i7-3630qm, GT650M 2Gb, 12Gb ram, ssd drive) and it plays just fine. Oh well I just saw that the issue is resolved hehe. Skyrim on the go is the best !
  18. Hey ! I use Stakado's Cinemascope ENB, very light and super pretty because it doesn't have any super fancy (and power hungry) effects like Ambient Occlusion and Bokeh Depth of Field. http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_72850_2014-02-01_00012_zpsf6cbeba8.png http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_riverwood.jpg http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/Skyrim/th_72850_2014-02-02_00001_zpsf64876a5.png http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/Skyrim/th_72850_2014-02-06_00002_zps568b99d5.png I play with that ENB, 1366x768 windowed on my laptop, i7-3630qm cpu and Geforce GT 650M 2Gb vidcard, official HD texture pack and at least 40 mods and it plays great.
  19. Well what was the point in getting a "ridiculously" high sneak skill in the first place..
  20. Categorized Favorites Menu without a doubt
  21. What? I thought at your age you would know you can't compare 24 blurred movie frames with 24 discrete rendered frames. Oh well, I know I like my 60 fps. To the OP, you can also set shadows to high instead of ultra, as shadows are done on the cpu and can make a big difference performance wise and none visuals wise while playing.
  22. How do you play "offline mode"? I'm sick to fookin' death of having to wait 5 - 20 mimutes for slowazz steam to finish syncing my game after a crash so the loader will allow me access to start playing. thank you In steam, Steam menu, switch to offline mode...seriously did you even try lol
