  1. yeah the culprit is unlocking the framerate
  2. When I was a kid, if I didnt like a game I switched to another one. I didnt spend days nitpicking. Oh well, guess I'm getting old.
  3. Graphics worse than (vanilla) FO3 ? That is just trolling non-sense.
  4. Can it be that papyrus logging slows things down a lot ? I was dissatisfied with my fps in a specific spot (outside of Whiterun, with the Immersive Settlements mod) where I had 30 fps. Renamed my ini files, created them again, ported some settings from the previous inis to the new ones, and BAM I went from 30 to 45 fps ! And its just great all around compared to before. Only thing that comes to mind is that in my new ini files I am not using papyrus logging.
  5. I was expecting something life changing but there isn't anything specific in your post ? Is there a specific issue with AMD cards ? I run a R9 280X with an i5-2500k with 90ish mods and Tamriel Reloaded ENB, Verdant Grass and what not and my game is 100% stable (fingers crossed, at lvl 31)
  6. Did you mess with your skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini ? If so you could try deleting them (or renaming, just to be safe) and re-run the skyrim launcher so it creates those files again
  7. I used to play with Stakado's Cinemascope ENB when I had a less powerful graphic card. Runs on ENB 0.108 but still looked very good. I think its the most performance friendly
  8. Hey ! Good thing you were able to start the game ! Oubliette made good points about Steam Workshop mods though. And that thing about moving your Steam folder out of program files. IF it is there anyways. My steam folder is on a different disk, and my Skyrim folder is on a different disk altogether (I have a small SSD drive so I installed only Skyrim on it and symlinked it to the Steam folder but now I am getting offtopic.) Another tip, if you get hooked on mods(you probably will) dont install too many at once ! Install one or two, run LOOT, start your game mess around a bit. Install one or two more, run LOOT, try your game. If you see a mod you want, be sure to read ALL of the description page (well at least the compatibility/requirements/installation instructions). It doesnt hurt to read the comments also, to see what issues people get and if you are willing to try it.
  9. You should start over with a completely clean install. Then install SKSE, NMM (Or Mod Organizer..I use NMM myself) LOOT, the Unofficial Skyrim patch. Always install mods thru NMM unless instructed otherwise ! It will save a lot of headaches. Also just so you know, it's normal to not have a mesh or texture folder in an unmodded Skyrim. Also iin your example where the files you had installed would not show up in game, it is because of that ArchiveInvalidation thing that will allow/disallow to have "external" files replace the standard textures/meshes. All taken care of automatically if you use NMM.
  10. When you go into your basement you try to press Shift+F12 because it's too dark
  11. Not sure what you're talking about but I have never had that in my game ? You should upload a screenshot
  12. Works perfectly fine but yeah, HD 4000 is really crap, so is any i3/i5 where the model name ends with a U (they are the low-power variants of the i3/i5, or something like that).
  13. Did you even try or are you just a milk drinker :pirate: https://www.google.ca/search?q=skyrim+console+command+enchant&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=4Z6QVLP-JY2VyQTdmoGADg
  14. I guess I'll buy the DLC's on my next playthrough then. I have never finished the main quest anyways, or finished any of the guilds quest lines in 300 hours of gameplay.
  15. Hello everyone, I am running Skyrim with 86 plugins at the moment. Some of these are vanilla variants of mods that otherwise have DLC versions, some are just oblivious to what DLC you have. I'm guessing it would probably break my game (or the mods) if I buy and install let's say Dawnguard or Dragonborn while I am already progressing with a character but I just wanted to read it from someone. Would I really have to start clean and re-install all the mods ? Thanks !
  16. Verdant is amazing, just installed it this week but it does hurt fps a bit. I also use Lush Trees and Grass (only the Trees part since Verdant handles the grass) For ENB I have settled on Tamriel Reloaded, it has all the bells and whistles you'd expect from an ENB but I feel it is lighter on hardware than RealVision. SMIM (Static Mesh Improvement Mod) is a given although I don't have it in this playthrough. Climates of Tamriel Realistic Lighting Overhaul What system did you get ? Sometimes people assume they have a kickass system (and it probably is for all other games) but Skyrim with ENB`s and mods can bring any system to its knees. Oh yeah, K ENB looks amazing but I wouldnt even dare try it on my system (i5-2500k at 4.3Ghz, R9 280X, 8GB RAM)
  17. I hope they make it (it would make no sense if they stopped now anyways) and I hope it integrates lots of ideas and ideas from the popular mods
  18. thanks for that wall of text you posted previously, even though my desktop pc is tweaked a lot already I still read all of it and I might look into shadow stuff to see if I can squeeze some more performance. About grass mods hurting your performance, did you try verdant grass ? Installed it yesterday and it's amazing and didnt hurt my performance much. http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_ScreenShot48_zps236a2178.png
  19. oh my bad yes it's shift+enter to toggle the ENB menu hehe, thanks. I guess I'm missing a checkbox or something in SPM though, because if I activate the overlay I won't have the ENB menu. That is with ENB 0.264 and SweetFX. Good tip about lowering the high/med/low settings too, thats what I do and I dont see any diff between high and low.
  20. The settings you are looking for are in the enbseries.ini file, in your Skyrim folder. [EFFECT] UseOriginalPostProcessing=false UseOriginalObjectsProcessing=false EnableBloom=true EnableAdaptation=true EnableDepthOfField=false EnableAmbientOcclusion=false EnableDetailedShadow=true EnableSunRays=true EnableSkyLighting=true EnableReflection=true EnableImageBasedLighting=true EnableSoftParticles=true EnableParticleLights=true EnableLens=true EnableSunGlare=true EnableSubSurfaceScattering=true EnableWater=true EnableUnderwater=false EnableCloudShadows=true EnableVolumetricRays=true EnableProceduralSun=true EnableMist=false Depending on what version of ENB you are running (I mean when you start the game, it should stay ENB 0.264 or something) you can press shift+f12 in-game to have the ENB menu popup. (The menu doesnt show on my pc though, if I have the Skyrim performance monitor overlay running) From there you can tweak settings on the fly, but remember to click on 'save configuration' then 'apply configuration' for some of the changes to take effect. I recommend bringing up the console in-game by pressing the ~ key first. Also for this to work you will have to run Skyrim as Administrator or else the changes you do in the ENB popup menu won't do anything. Are you running SKSE ? If so it is SKSE that you will have to run as Admin.
  21. Isn't there a command you need to use to set their faction friendly to the Dragonborn ? Does it do that with every forsworn or just a specific one ?
  22. I never thought the day would come that I would say this, but after trying many ones over the year, now I just stick to Microsoft Security Essentials since Windows 7 (now on 8.1) Does the job perfectly fine and is as unintrusive as it gets. Then again I have my friends and their parents getting viruses (well, mostly spyware/adware) at least once a month. Most of the viruses you'll get are because you're stupid (not talking directly about anyone on here) and you need someone to hold your hand while browsing. So +1 for Microsoft Security Essentials for me
  23. Hmm what did you compare to ? Your specs are definitely NOT <more than enough> to run with the mods/ENB that you want to use. I have a laptop with an i7-3630qm,12gb RAM, and a 2Gb GT650M so pretty much the same as you, and it is crazyness to expect to have 2k textures AND an ENB running on that machine. Also, what model of i7 processor do you have ? If you have your R9 M265X and the gpu integrated into your i7, you need to mess with stuff to be sure that your R9 M265X is the one being used while playing. Edit : Well I fired the game up on my laptop although I haven played in month, its better than I recalled : http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_enb2014_12_13_1_13_11_zps92742687.png http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_enb2014_12_13_1_14_16_zps140ec4b6.png http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo50/dayglo98/th_enb2014_12_13_1_12_31_zps53cc5442.png That is in 1600x900 with Stakado's Cinemascope ENB (this one is very light), no vegetation mod, no lighting overhaul (like RLO or ELFX) and no 2k textures except for the Official HD Texture pack. So there is still ways to make the game look decent but nothing like Project ENB or Realvision (!!!)
  24. watching skyrim unmodded burns my eyes. Thats why I glued the f12 key so I cant accidentally press it
