  1. My meshes and textures are placed inside the Skyrim data folder (meshes in mesh/armor, textures in texture/armor, so on and so forth), so I'm don't think that's the issue. Pretty much what I have done so far is this: - opened up the vanilla Stahlrim armor in Nifskope, changed the version numbers to 11 and 34, deleted the BSShaders branch. - Imported the NIF into Blender 2.49 using Nifscripts and the settings from the TESAlliance tutorial. - Deleted the skeleton. Removed all vertex groups from the armor. Separated the armor into chest and leggings. - Imported in a Skyrim body and copied its weights over to the armor using Bone Weight Copy. - Imported the body's skeleton and rigged both meshes to it. - Exported the edited armor back into Nifskope. Changed the version numbers back to normal and reapplied the BSShaders. That's pretty much what I did for the file. The only thing I did in Nifskope was link the BSShaders branch to the right NiTriShapes. If it helps, I'll upload the files for you to take a look.
  2. So, long story short, I'm working on a mod that adds in versions of the vanilla and DLC armors that let you wear chestpieces and leggings separately, similar to a few other mods that have been done but haven't updated in a very long while. (In fact I've even gained permission from Topvman - the creator of 'Greaves Return' - to use his meshes as a reference for my own work and to include in the mod itself.) http://i.imgur.com/EubsMgI.jpg I'm having a issue where the model of the armor shows up as a huge red marker inside the Creation Kit. I already know this means that something is wrong with the mesh and it isn't showing because of it, but I can't figure out what it could be. These are the files in Nifskope. http://i.imgur.com/C1QRnLj.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/K9i2xhY.jpg Can anyone help me?
  3. You have a lot of work cut out for you if you want to use those models. They're in .tga format, which is completely incompatible with Skyrim, which uses the .nif format. You'd need to import the models into 3DS MAX or Blender (whichever you prefer), and you'd need to rig a skyrim skeleton to them, then you'd need to reapply the textures that came with them (which again, you'd need to convert in .dds format using Photoshop). The followers themselves can easily be made inside the Creation Kit, and I'm sure there's a few hair packs around you could use for their hair. Of course you could always go to those youtube videos that have Final Fantasy Followers in them and go from there :)
  4. Hey there, I'm working on making a mod that separates the vanilla and DLC armor sets (pretty much every piece of clothing or armor in the game that is supposed to be worn in two pieces instead of one), and I've started with the Forsworn Armor. However, I've run into a strange UV issue that only shows up in Nifskope. http://i.imgur.com/NCYq8OP.jpg The body's UV map doesn't display the texture correctly. I haven't taken a look in Skyrim's files, but I have a feeling its because I'm using the body texture meant for the _1 body and not the _0 body. If anybody has some suggestions in the meantime, they're more than welcome.
  5. I've been spending the last couple of weeks working on ideas for a couple of quest mods I have in mind. However I'd like to start with a simple mod first. One that allows you to recruit the Old Orc as a follower rather than just being forced to kill him, culminating in a brief questline that is completed when he dies against a Dragon Priest, Ancient or Elder Dragons or against high level enemies in general. How do I add in a additional dialogue branch that allows me to recruit him?
  6. I really need some help on this. I'm not sure what to do and the Civil War questline won't progress until this gets sorted.
  7. So, a strange thing happened shortly after the optional peace summit you can organize at High Hrothgar if the Civil War is still raging during the finale of the main quest. Somehow, all Stormcloak forces consider me be their enemy, and shortly after the peace summit, as soon as it ended actually, the Stormcloaks began their siege of Whiterun when I fast traveled there to trap Odaaviing in Dragonsreach. Anyway, that's only the leadup. The problem is that after defending Whiterun from the Stormcloaks, I reported to General Tullius like the quest object said to, only for him to be stuck saying that I fled the field of battle? My quest marker still points to him, but that's the only thing he says to me. Is there anything I can do to skip this part of 'Reunification of Skyrim' where I need to report to him?
  8. I've been getting these really annoying CTDs every single time I've tried entering into Riften. Even using the console to place myself there just results in another crash. I've gone through my mods to check if any of them are conflicting and uninstalled the ones that affect Riften in some way or another and remade my bashed patch. None of it has worked. And since every time I've made up a merged patch using TESVEDIT, it just crashes the game, forcing me to deactivate it to get the game working again. So I installed the latest version of the program and now the problem is that apparently making merged patches for Skyrim is a unsupported option. Does anybody have a confirmed working version of TESVEDIT that can make a merged patch that doesn't crash Skyrim?
  9. I've edited the female Skaal clothing mesh using blender and its NIFscripts, but now I need to make the edited file Skyrim-compatible using Nifskope. I have no idea how to do this. And many of the tutorials I have already found don't really cover modifying existing meshes. I tried using NifConvert (A tool used to convert NIFS into various formats) but for some reason it doesn't want to work with my .nif. Can I have some help figuring this out?
  10. I used 3DS Max to import the mesh and do a bit of work on it before exporting it with the same settings back into Nifskope. I did notice that on the original nif all of the bone files for the skeleton were still there but on my exported nif they weren't. That could be the problem.
  11. So, I'm working on a mod that -eventually- will be about adding new and unique semi lore-friendly armors into Skyrim, all of them associated with or featuring in quests that tell a story. Companions will also be added with this mod, and one of them, is the subject of this post. http://i.imgur.com/aKzfbhQ.jpg?1 As you will see with the first Nifskope image she is essentially Korra from Legend of Korra. So the problem I have is that the armor does not show up inside the Creation Kit. It's completely invisible. I've made the armor addon for it as well as the boots, and the thing is that the male version works completely fine. Everything shows up. It's only the female version that's invisible. The male one shows up both Nifskope and the CK just fine. http://i.imgur.com/ZNA4GTr.jpg?1 And within Nifskope the female one shows up without any issue at all. http://i.imgur.com/aKzfbhQ.jpg?1 But once I get it inside the CK, it completely disappears. http://i.imgur.com/jtRllCq.jpg?1 I have no idea why. I think it might have something to do with the actual mesh itself, being that I did delete a part of it and rotate and scale a few other parts. As far as I know that shouldn't cause any issues like this to come up. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion?
  12. So, basically, I've forgotten to make a _0 version of my custom armor mesh. What scale value would I need in Nifskope to edit my _1 nif with?
  13. I've been trying to merge a couple of mod esps in order to cut down on Skyrim's esp limit to improve its stability. However, for some reason the new merged esp I create relies on the separate esps it was created from as masters, and I can't use it without them on? Am I missing something?
  14. Its a simple texture issue. The hand textures are a little off compared to the rest of the body textures. It could be that you didn't overwrite a file somewhere when installing CBBE.
  15. Ladies and gentlemen, Skyrim is a wonderful game. It is a beautiful game. It's armor? Doubly so. From the angular plates of Nordic Carved, to the sweeping curves of the solid Ebony, to the sharp and dangerous armor of spikiness that is Daedric, I love every single piece of armor the game has to offer. You could say I am in love. But the one thing that puts a wrench in the relationship is the lack of unique armor. Truly unique sets, with their own backstory, their own little quests. So this mod is designed to cater to my need for diverse and unique armor. I won't pretend to say that this mod will be rigidly lore-friendly, but each set of armor will both look and feel like it belongs in Tamriel's vast and epic history. I present the MOA mod. Each week I will be updating the spaces below with pics of the armor, in-game and outside of it, at first they will simply be placed in the world for people to find and wear. But later on I will implement a short-medium questline for each one. Most of the armors will have a corresponding cloak to go with them, and the quests for some of two of them in particular, which I think you can guess for yourself, will be Imperial or Stormcloak affiliated. As each separate mod grows, I will eventually separate them into separate posts. ================================================================ Snow Elf Hunter http://i.imgur.com/HD0bmef.jpg A snag on the road to success. *clears throat.* http://i.imgur.com/siHNqLr.jpg?2 Ah. 17. ^ The esp controls all records of items added by a mod. Yes the mesh and texture files for the items will still be inside the data directory, but their placement in the game is determined by the .esp file created when the modder was working in the Creation Kit. If you uninstalled the mod through NMM, then the mod's files are gone. If you do a reinstall you'll get them back, but I don't think they'll be in your inventory anymore.
  18. Unfortunately when you uninstalled the mod you deleted the .esp along with it. That controls where the items from a mod are placed in the world - including your inventory.
  19. Probably the Dragon AI overhaul and Civil War overhaul actually. And Immersive Creatures as well. The Dragon overhaul essentially makes Dragons into the tough and tense fights they should be, and the Civil War overhaul expands on the vanilla conflict in ways that are both fantastic and well-implemented.
  20. I've had trouble with this as well, but I think I've worked it out. I placed the NIFS I wanted to modify within the Skyrim directory along with the textures I wanted to associate with them. Then I opened up Nifskope and the textures were showing up perfectly well. If that isn't the case, then its usually because the texture path has been changed if you moved the NIF while working on it. Basically all you need to do is find the BSHADER node, if I'm remembering the name correctly, and you'll find a purple gear icon. Then you click that and you can choose the texture you need!
  21. Requests go in the Mod Requests sub-forum. And it's actually not that hard to do it yourself, it only takes a few minutes in photoshop or gimp depending on how much time you want to spend on it.
  22. Right! So here's a first look at the look of the armor I've decided to cook up for this mod. http://i.imgur.com/p1AtpKr.jpg Owing to the fact that I not model so good, I instead have done this. I'll be uploading pics of the mask, war axe and cape soon enough.
  23. Hey there, I've tried taking up modelling and modding again and I thought I'd start with a small quest-driven armor and weapon mod. I've modeled this axe right here, and would like to know what people think of it and what they think needs to be done better on it. Critiscism is very much welcome. http://i.imgur.com/9fInB3x.png I've made up the UV map best I could, but I'm essentially a no-go when it comes to making or using textures. I need some help here. http://i.imgur.com/VaUUBWq.png
  24. This isn't really such a big issue, but I've noticed that a few of the weapons in my game have their UVs all messed up. Can I fix this by manually replacing a texture in the data folder? I'll give a example: the Hunting Revolver by itself, with no weapon mods added on or anything, has a incorrect UV map. But with mods on the UV map is completely fine. Sort of a similar deal for That Gun as well. Can I fix this by manually replacing the texture linked to that weapon?
