New install of Vortex - hangs on "loading extensions"

Hi Folks,

Just installed latest version of Vortex onto a PC that has never used it before so that I can install some witcher mods. It won't load past the dark grey screen showing "loading extensions" even if left for 30+ minutes..

I've tried uninstall + reinstall same version plus an older version and same issue. Installed latest vcredistx64 as mentioned in another thread, same issue.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

removing a current version and replacing it with an older version is not a good thing to do and probably will ensure that you won't be able to get it going without even more pain.

i'd advise you to completely uninstall vortex from your system and use something like revo uninstaller to remove any remnants. then go into your appdata folder and remove the vortex folders from there.

this will give you a completely vortex free system.

when you've done that, download and install the current version.

make sure when you install it, the installer runs as admin. note - only the installer, to install vortex. never run vortex as admin.

see how you go with that.

but don't, really don't, remove a version of vortex and replace it with an older version.

Thanks a lot, it was just out of desperation to get a witcher auto loot mod up and running tbh.

Just tried all that, deleting everything that came from revo and running install as admin and same :( just sitting there loading extensions. How long should that normally take? I've never used before so don't havea reference to compare to.

there's something wrong with your system then, as the program installs without issue. what that issue is - no idea - could be anything.

Install the Visual C++ runtimes.

Since it's a PC that has never had Vortex on it, it may need them

DO download and install the x64 version of the required Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 (on the web page below, it's the download that reads x64: vc_redist.x64.exe).
https://support.micr...ual-c-downloads

Install it even if you think you already have it installed. Yes, it's a Windows install. Double click the downloaded file, follow the prompts, and yes you'll need to reboot. If you're getting error 126, it's probably because you don't have the C++ Redistributable installed.

Also, make sure that all Updates for Windows have Installed.

If it still hangs, can you please see if there is anything in the Vortex log file located at %appdata%\Vortex\vortex.log ?

Wahey! I thought I'd already done this but I must have been using an older version. Thank you, it is now loading!
